This was our third visit since they opened. We loved the entire experience from the great bartender that made some crazy non-alcoholic drinks, the amazing pastry chef who creates magical dessert combo's and the overworked chef who micro manages the entire process to make sure everything is perfect. Thank you for another great ride!

Fantastic food in an amazing environment. Approachable enough to make you feel comfortable, but the things they do with food will blow you away dish-after-dish. Go with the Journey menu and get the pairing, you won't regret it.

We first met R.J. Cooper at a charity event a few years ago and were intrigued by what we learned about his (then) new restaurant. What took us so long?
Merely finding Rogue 24 is an adventure in and of itself, nestled in an alley way that is seemingly far removed in both place and time from the nearby DC Convention Center. This physical journey represents an excellent metaphor for the visual and flavor excursions to come.
One should plan four hours for your Rogue 24 visit, which allows ample time to savor each delightfully distinctive course. We found the wine/beer pairing to be an excellent choice. It is difficult to call out favorites from 24 courses, but expect to enjoy grilled snail with a basil sauce, lamb tartar, waygu beef, and scrumptiously roasted beets among other delights.

We look forward to returning again soon!

This was our third visit to Rogue 24. Also the third time we did the full 24 course menu, along with the full beverage pairing. The two previous times, we thought there was some real thought that went into the pairings, this time there were 6 wines, definitely of lower quality and we were never sure why they were served and how many courses they were meant to pair with. We had an opening "cocktail" after the first bite and on the table for several more bites. We then got a full flute of champagne (which we never finish), for one bite, then a bottomless cheap white blend for it seemed like 10 bites. We then had a Chilean Pinot Noir for one or two bites, then a Borolo for the end of the meal, including dessert which was 6 small sweet bites. Overall of the 24 bites, 4 were memorable, and some like the beef course which we thought was outstanding on previous visits, now clearly used a cheaper cut of meat. For two, our total bill including tip was over $500. It would have been an interesting evening at half the price, tonight we feel we were taken advantaged of. (Don't think we are cheap, in the last year we have had 3 multi-multi course dinners for two where the bill was well over $900, and those meals were worth every cent.)

A lovely evening. A special treat while in DC. Completely out of the way down a back alley, surprising location and menu. The chef was very gracious. An overall good night.

My wife and I got the 24-course "journey" menu. It was a 3.5 hour delight. Every dish was interesting, delicious, and not too big. Cocktails were great. Very welcoming staff. It felt like being invited to dinner at the Mad Food Scientists Club.

While it is a very extravagant night out, the ambiance, staff and food make fit for a very special occasion. Some of the food was a little strange (a cricket inside a botan-like candy), it all tasted fantastic and the service was exceptional. Very friendly and informative.

We had gone to Rogue last year for a 10-course meal and it was great. This time we decided to go for the 24-course menu based on the chef's advice. It was horrible. It was as if a bunch of kids with sweet tooths were allowed to run amuck in the kitchen. I don't know what happened during the year in between, but to charge 200(per person including wine) for the meal we had was a crime.

We were visiting from the UK and found this place in the 'where chef's eat' book. We originally booked a table for 2, then our friends wanted to try it out too. I couldn't see a free table for 4 on the website, but an email to the restaurant was answered straight away.
The location is a little hard to find, but I had read it was down an alley way and we found it easily enough.
Love the décor and general feel of the place - very relaxed. We opted for the 24 course journey together with wine pairing. Every course was beautifully presented and delivered on taste too (the white truffle is so worth the extra $'s)
All in all, a very enjoyable evening and I'd highly recommend this place. The staff are great and the chef is quite a character. It's not a cheap night out, but it's worth it for the experience.

I'm almost without words. This was truly one of the most unique and epic dining experiences I've ever had. Over 4 hours, we went through a 24 course dining extravaganza. I can only imagine eating at Rogue is like being a judge on top chef. It is definitely a more expensive night but worth every penny...assuming of course you are a bit adventurous. All that being said, if you are a picky eater - you might starve. The courses ranged from dehydrated cauliflower with cucumber foam to more typical fare like steak to something with a cricket in it...I'm not even sure...but it was all delicious (for the most part - a few bites I might categorize under "interesting" but that made it all the more fun).

My wife and I recently dines here for her birthday. We chose the 16 course menu, and the associated drink pairing menu. The pace of the dinner was relaxed, each plate being more creative than the last.

The service was tremendous; the staff engaging and very knowledgeable. The Chef was animated and engaged all of the tables. A truly unique DC experience.

Restaurant space was cool and the service good but way too much time was spent making a small plate look decorative because the food had no taste. The mackerel was dry, the cracker broke apart when you tried to eat the pigstails; the cricket paste had no taste. I think the cricket would have had more taste! Was there really a scallop with the cauliflower? Chef is obviously trying to be creative using a bunch of funky ingredients but not so innovative if there isn't much taste.

Presentation was beautiful and cuisine was edgy and creative (not friendly to picky eaters--lots of things that I had never seen before, and I am a pretty adventurous eater). To be honest, some of the folks in our party left hungry--for the very high cost, it probably makes sense for the restaurant to up the portion sizes a bit.

We had the 16 course meal, and I was worried that it would either be too little or too much, but it was just perfect. Each course was only a couple of bites, but the combination of 16 of those was totally satisfying. Each dish was brought out in a timely fashion, and either the server or sometimes the chef explained what we were eating and answered any questions. Although they did not have a wine list, they helped us choose a delicious wine to go with our multiple courses. There was a good variety and many items which we had never tried. We really enjoyed the evening.

Came in from Austin and will definitely tell our friends about the place if they are heading to DC. Cool ambience. Chef is very interactive with the patrons. Amazing culinary adventure.

An amazing night, in a small, but vibrant and modern restaurant, located down a dark mysterious alley. Chef RJ is madly in love with food, complex combinations and unique ingredients, so I can guarantee you will taste things you have never tasted before. Chef RJ also spent a lot of time at our table describing each of the dishes we had in the 18 course tasting menu (Yes, I said 18! They have a 24 course as well!) and was very engaging with us and our three daughters. A unique and wonderful night for real foodies.
One important note: the restaurant charges a $70/person canx fee if you canx less than 48 hours out. I find this outrageous and think the restaurant needs to make it clear on Open Table where we booked our reservation.

My wife and I went to Rogue 24 last week for my birthday. The entire experience was phenomenal. The food was fantastic and featured interesting combinations of ingredients and cooking techniques and some uncommon proteins. Also, the service was great. I have been to some of the best restaurants in the country and, after this experience, I would certainly count Rogue 24 among them. I've already recommended the restaurant to friends, family, and coworkers, and they are already making reservations.

Great dinning experience. We waited in the receiving room for like 15 min and ordered the bourbon with pickled bag shot and it was a great start. We did the 16 course menu and it was a really great experience, all the plates were very tasteful and different. The bartender even asks what course we were so he can make make a cocktail that paired with whatever course # we were. Definetely will return.

I came into this restaurant not knowing what to expect at all. I was overjoyed with excitement from the 1st course to the 24th. Yes the 24th. There was about 5 straight dishes towards the end that were game changers. We thought the food before those was good. WOW. Things you never thought existed were brought to the table. Excellent drink menu as I chose a non alcoholic route and still felt as though I had some of the best mixed drinks in town. Great spot. Will come back whenever I'm in DC again.

First Impressions:

This restaurant is in a alley. So, the dining experience begins with the journey into another world - the brick streets, painted mural on the walls of the alley and the cool air of the wind trapped between buildings in the alleyway. After, you enter the industrial and modern entrance of the restaurant, you are transported into a different world: the restaurant has 52 seats and most only have two chairs.

Dining:
The food was top notch. As you already know, you have the option of getting 3,24,or 120 course meals. Each dish, is made in a open kitchen atmosphere. So, you are watching everything being made. I opted for the gazpacho, frog legs, and chocolate sponge cake - all were delicious.

Overall:
The dinner was pricey, but not more than I expected it to be! This is a dining out experience everyone should get the opportunity to experience.

Absolutely amazing restaurant. The service is fantastic (without being overwhelming) and the food is out of this world. Ambience inside restaurant is great. I had always wanted to visit a restaurant where the food and drinks were like what I saw made on Top Chef. well, Rogue 24 fits this bill. With a changing menu every two weeks, and plates that have things like "potato foam" you know that this is a meal that you can't make at your own home. We were fortunate enough to use a Glit City Voucher and coupon code to get this meal a bit cheaper than normal. Realize going in that the plates are not large plates. we had the 3 course menu with three drinks (one drink per course, made to fit the choices)...all was great.

I was going to go to have a Journey meal with a friend, but my friend ended up having to cancel just a few hours beforehand, which was unfortunate. But I wasn't about to pass up the opportunity myself.

Very glad I didn't cancel. The meal was simply spectacular.

I haven't tried a meal of this style before, so it was a new experience, and it was an excellent one. I'd made sure to request that beverages be paired with the courses, and the sommelier did an excellent job there. Each accompaniment, be it wine or beer, fit the various small courses perfectly.

All of the food was unique. Different takes on ingredients and techniques that I wouldn't have expected, but all of which combined very effectively and very creatively. Something not mentioned in enough of the reviews for this restaurant is its unique blend of traditional technique and molecular-gastronomic approach. Sure, some dishes are prepared by the more well-known approaches, like a perfect saute or excellent roast. But Rogue 24 also employees things like liquid-nitrogen, dehydration, foams, and more, And because the kitchen is open, right in the middle of the restaurant floor, it's a real treat to see and hear everything be crafted as the courses progress.

An excellent experience, and I'll probably be back when the seasons turn, to see what a different season would yield in the dishes.

And for anyone else: Yes, these dishes are small. The best bang for your buck is the full Journey menu. Don't short yourself, go for that.
