It has been a few years since dining at Rods restaurant versus the Red Dog pub. we dined in the elegant upstairs area overlooking the bar, there was a high degree of noise from below. Conversation among our party of 4 was difficult. Service was very spotty, felt abandoned at times. Prime rib and scallop menu items were ordered but found to be sold out ... at 7pm. Entree's we ended up ordering were very good. The pub is a better value for the money.

The ambiance and energy of this place keep us coming back. The steaks (and pork chop) are excellent, the service friendly and selection accommodating to different palates. We celebrated a birthday here and the cake they delivered was delightful. Only issue we had is they featured a 2014 vintage wine (with a very high published Wine Spectator rating on the menu) and served us the 2015 bottle instead. When we asked for the one featured on the menu, we were told they didn't have any more, but different offer it for an adjusted price. Keep an eye on the drink menu to make sure you get what you ask for. This place also has two great bar areas with live music - truly enjoyed the experience overall and will definitely return.

Excellent food in a comfortable, pleasant setting. Crowded and a bit noisy but it was a Saturday evening. Not very happy with waitress who gave us more time when we asked but seemed anxious to present the bill and get us out of there.

Great experience! We are getting married at The Madison in 6 weeks and went to dinner at Rod’s for our dating anniversary. The food was so good I’m confident it’s going to be outstanding at the wedding too. They accommodated us in the train car and it was nice and quiet. It can get a bit chilly back there. We had calamari and ceasar salad to start. A Delmonico steak, lobster Mac and cheese with huge lobster chunks and the scallops. Everything was excellent and huge portions! They even surprised us with a small anniversary cake! It was very sweet and I can’t wait to keep coming back each year to celebrate here!

All was fine and as expected, we did get two plates that were dirty and had to be sent back but nothing crazy they remedied it in short order. Food was very good and service fine. No home runs and no strike outs

We are new to the area and we have been looking for a new restaurant for my husband and I on date nights. The place is very nice so we assumed the food would be top notch. The filet my husband had was ok. I had the lobster penne dish and the lobster was overcooked and very tough. I expected more for the price. We also found a hair in our lobster bisque and they were very sorry and took it off the tab. We most likely wouldn't go back. Still on the search for good steak and seafood. This one didn't quite measure up.

Wonderful spot for lunch or dinner. All six of us had the absolutely outstanding chateaubriand. Shrimp cocktail was also wonderful as was rhe selection of wines. Service, however, was noticeably slow and confusing, especially by Rod’s high standards.

A reliable steak house that is a staple in our rotation. Just a bit disappointed that the host attempted to put us at a table for 2 which was clearly too small for a party of 3. Especially disappointing when there were plenty of open tables available

Me and my wife usually don't have much time during our busy work days, so we pre planned this date and got all dressed up for our night out. They have valet, great great seafood (Order the Atlantic Salmon) it's to die for. I requested the second level it's a little more quit and romantic than the first level where the bar is depending on what your looking for. For a 30 minute drive it was definitely worth while.

We have visited Rod's in the past for lunch, brunch, and our son celebrated his Bar Mitzvah there. But this was our first (yes, 1st) dinner there. It was as expected: excellent! And it topped off a birthday celebration in a relaxed and un-rushed way. Thanks!

Steak was amazing, crab bisque and caeser salad were pretty delicious too. The sides that came with the fancy steak were basic, boring and undercooked. The service was extremely slow and that atmosphere was a little stuffy. I would go back for the steak though.

The highly vaunted buffet was a vast aggregate of platters of sliced salami and cold food, tasteless and contained in ceremonial and battered covered "warming" dishes. Slicing stations were lackluster omelettes or roasts. Desserts were the strongest attraction consisting of cakes, pies and a cobbler. The majority of diners wore unattractive tee shirts and worn shorts. Perhaps befitting the cuisine.

A customer service experience as good as this is so rare! From the owner to each and every staff member, just superb. And I haven't even started on the steak... and the mushrooms! Phenomenal. Turn the lights down and every category is five stars!

Staying at the connected hotel and dined with 10 friends while attending an event. Wonderful menu. A wide variety of meals were ordered and everyone thought theirs was excellent. I had steak--very lean, flavorful and perfectly cooked. My wife says her scallops were the best she's had. Service was as expected--good. Wine was a quite pricey, and the $35 corkage charge is outrageous. But overall, really enjoyed it.

As always our dinner was superb. The service was impeccable, as it always is at Rod's. And the food, amazing, as we can also always count on. There was a rather large and noisy group around the bar, and the lounge singer/pianist insisted on changing song lyrics in order to chat up his audience, which I found annoying (but then, I find lounge singers annoying in general). But lounge singers aside, our dinner at Rod's was the same excellent service, menu and food as always. That's why we go there!

Great brunch; lots of choices and food generally very good. The seafood, salads and omelette stations deserve particular mention. The other hot food, not so much. Desserts were also first class.

The cozy, old-school atmosphere in the main dining area (not the Tavern), is as classic as ever. The service is attentive. Sadly, the food falls very short. My Mom ordered a petite filet. A petite filet in an upscale restaurant is not a regular size filet that has just been sliced horizontally, serving just a "sliver" of meat. It looked like a dark pancake it was so thin! And for the price, it was robbery. Nothing else on the plate, and to make matters worse, not served hot. Unacceptable in a place like this. Myself and the other diner with us both had the crab cake sandwich. The crab cakes were also cold and served with these terrible "matchstick" potatoes that you shake out of a can! And they were all broken little pieces that were hard to eat. Even Wegmann's serves actual fries with their crab cakes in their food court!!! This place is resting on it's laurels after many years in business, and hoping no one notices, as this is not the first time.

Disappointed on the execution of the filet mignon that was ordered rare. So overdone that the edges of the steak had a woody texture and so dry that I had to drown it in A1 steak sauce. Most of the wait staff had very little command of the English language. When I kept asking for bread (which I don't think I should have had to ask for) the waitress kept repeating, "red pepper flakes". I would say that communicating was a problem. Two dinners that were not ours were delivered to our table and the same for the drinks that we ordered. we asked to speak to a manager and was told that he was too busy, and that the waitress should just take one of the dinners off the bill. This worked out very well for us, because we had a gift certificate and did not want a credit to have to use at another time, because although this was the third time dining here, it would definitely be our last. Very disappointing experience, would not recommend this restaurant to any one of our friends. Three strikes you're out!

This was my first time visiting Rod's Steak and Seafood Grille. We arrived a bit early and had a drink at the bar and then were seated at our table in the main dinning room. The service was very good. They were attentive but not intrusive. We ordered the Ahi as an appetizer that was excellent. My guest ordered the steak and lobster tail - the steak was very good but the lobster tail was rubbery and tasteless (Do not order). I ordered the Veal chop (medium) and it was done perfectly. The creamed spinach side was not very good.. had more cream than spinach and you could taste cinnamon, much more than to our liking. But, the Lobster Mac n Cheese is excellent.
The overall ambiance is very old school and enjoyable.
