It was my Mom’s Birthday, it was a wonderful meal . Our waiter ( Angel) was wonderful . He was very attentive and brought my Mom two pieces of cake with a candle . The food was delicious, we all had steak .
Everything very nice
Excellent experience for a birthday celebration.
We all enjoyed our meal.
Delicious food, great service. Very nice decor. Will definitely go back
It was my boyfriend's 60th birthday and I wanted to take him somewhere with a beautiful atmosphere and I thought about Rod's. He was so happy; he had been there before many years ago when he attended college at Fairleigh. He was really taken back. The food was excellent, the service was amazing and the ambiance was just beautiful. We will definitely be back again!! Thank you.
Service was very good at first, but declined as the restaurant became busy.
Wait staff was very attentive and caring. Made me feel very comfortable and not rushed. Made thoughtful recommendations and really catered to your needs.
Seafood Paella Special was delicious, nice wine menu
From the Blue Point Oysters to the perfectly grilled Petite Filet Mignon, everything was fresh, flavorful and perfectly presented. The side dishes; Vidalia Onion Strings, mashed Potatoes with crispy Shallots and the signature Creamed Spinach were all terrific - top shelf recipes and preparation.
Great staff and good food. Always a good experience
Amazing service, tasteful food and perfect atmosphere
Excellent dinner and cocktails. Service was great.
Always a romantic and pleasurable dining experience…the food is always consistently delicious. We missed their famous date nut bread due to supply issues, but they made up for it with everything else. You simply cannot be the old world, classy ambience that takes you back to when times were simpler …
Our party of four dined on New Year’s Eve. We had wonderful wait staff who gave us terrific service and advice concerning our food and drink selections. We were seated promptly with accommodations for a booth on the lower level. The hostess actually gave us a return call after we asked for the seating arrangements. Thanks to all involved with welcoming in 2022.
Fried calamari app was terrible
Brussel sprout side dish was terrible
New Year’s Eve
A pandemic dining experience. What else can I say? I hope they can recover and go back to normal soon. I have a lot of great memories at this restaurant and they’re a classic staple in the area.
Service was terrible from both the manager and wait staff. Food is always awesome there but this time the service ruined the experience. The server would be the best worker at a bagel joint bc he was constantly in a rush. Slinging THEC bagel Sammies is where the rush is warranted. Not a fine dining steakhouse like Rods.
Rods has been an establishment that for the 35 years I’ve been going is always good. Food and service plus the ambience.
Throwback interior with very solid food
I recommend Rods to all my friends and family. Definately my favorite!
Extremely slow service. We sat upstairs. I’m not sure how one gets to sit in the main part of the restaurant, as it appeared quite lovely. Unfortunately, the server spilled a glass of water while bringing the food. No one came over to apologize. Just brought napkins. Food was prepared well. Just unfortunate that my daughter’s friend had a lap full of water.
Rods is always good. You can’t go wrong here. Recently started adding stuff back to the menu. Oysters have been fabulous. The staff is excellent. Sever named Sarah and bartender Jess are outstanding at their job
I would recommend Rod's for a delicious enjoyable evening with either family or friends
Food and service were top notch.
We have been dining at Rods for years. My wife and I go every Christmas. Very underwhelmed by the seafood - shrimp and crap cocktail was embarrassingly small and the shrimp tasted like bleach. Steaks on the other hand were great. If you go for a steak and cocktail, you’ll love it.
Absolutely worst service I’ve had in a very long time and they were not even busy on a Friday night.
Waited 1 1/2 for appetizers
Over 2 hrs for dinner
Waiter forgot orders
We were placed in the train car area and forgotten about
Asked about our order multiple times then finally complained to the manager who never even came to check on us after food finally arrived
Would never go back
Poor reflection on the restaurant and the manager
I am a regular at Rods. From the food to the atmosphere to the incredible wait staff it is a wonderful experience
It is a birthday tradition for many years to eat at Rods
We eat in the train car and feel transported to a different time and place.
Overall very good meal. Food was tasty and well prepared. Service seemed a little overwhelmed, but restaurant was crowded with a number of large parties. Ambience is nice and has a classic old school vibe.
OverLl recommendation if in the area or staying at the Madison Hotel.
Awful banquet food. Over coked tasteless steak and over priced.
Good food, courteous service. Well blended drinks. Classic ambiance. Food on the higher end of expense for what you get.
Whether it's a special occasion or just the need for a good meal, this is a great choice. Even if one is alone, the ambiance makes one feel welcomed and comfortable.
Came here for our 6 month anniversary. Very cozy place with highly attentive staff. We didn’t feel rushed and enjoyed a delicious meal. At the end we were brought a surprise cake to celebrate our anniversary which was a very pleasant surprise. Food was good drinks were good and ambience was perfect!
The Keller sirloin was ok. Could have been cooked to medium. It came out rare
All in all ok
Great as always.
Ask for Juan Carlos or Luis. Both amazing servers! Best martinis in NJ.
One of our favorite places but last experience was not great. We actually arrived early for our reservation and the hostess said she would come get us at the bar which she never did. Then we stood by the desk for another 15 minutes before we were seated at a table for six when we were a party of two. We’ve been coming to rods for years and it was a bit disappointing
Thank you for your comments, I'm sorry to learn that your recent experience wasn't what it should have been. I will speak to the hostesses who were on that night, in a constructive manner, to avoid a re-occurrence. Please accept my personal apology and I hope to see you again. Sincerely, Jerry Keller
Had 7:30pm reservations and didn't get seated until after 8pm. Appetizers didn't show up until 9:00pm, and dinner a long time after. Ordered a bottle of wine when we sat down and it took over 30 minutes to come. When I made reservations I told them it was for a 75th birthday and they said they'd send a small cake with a candle to the table, but never did that. I've been to Rod's several times before and never experienced such bad service. Place is gorgeous though and food worth the crazy wait time. Also, had drinks at the Red Dog Tavern next door and the bartender couldn't be bothered to help. Poor attitude.
Food was good but the steak was far too expensive for what was served. My wife had a chicken pot pie which I felt was a bit on the small side, and the veggies too large. My daughter had salmon which she said was good. We split a piece of chocolate cake and cheesecake among the three of us. The cheesecake was possibly the best I’ve ever tasted but the chocolate cake was stale and had obviously been in or close to a freezer.
