Rockwoods Grill & Bar
Food was really quite good. Our server was actually very good but was overwhelmed by a large party of people she had been seated with previously. She did fantastic considering how large the party was but she could have used a lot more help from supports staff to tend to the additional tables she was being seated with. Not the restaurants fault but the party was very loud with numerous young children running all over the restaurant with kazoos in their mouths.they would have benefitted from a private room But would definitely come back. This was Our first visit
First time at Rockwoods Grill We loved the food and the sever was fast, helpful, and charming. We will be back to try all the other great looking menu items.
Our waitress seemed like she was irritated and she really didn’t make an effort to smile. Once our food was served then she was better. It seemed like we were a bother to her
The food and the service were decent and the price point was solid for a standard night out. The fries seemed like they were maybe under a heat lamp for a long while and there were no real standouts among the dishes we ordered.
Good food. Great service. Nice atmosphere. Will be back.
It was great! Brought the mother in law for her birthday. Will be back soon!
We were very disappointed in the service we received and it has negatively impacted our view of the restaurant and has definitely made us decide we will not return. It took 15 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge us and take our drink order after we had been sat. After that, it took another 10-15 minutes to get our food ordered (a different server from the drink server). We watched both servers provide great service to the tables around us, but we were ignored. Our waiter never stopped over to check on us. She did come to drop off a box, where I mentioned it was my husbands birthday (it was also in the reservation notes) and she just walked away without comment. We then had to continue waiting until we were finally able to stop her and asked for the check so we could just leave. I would not recommend celebrating a birthday here because they do not care and the service is very poor. I recommend going elsewhere to receive better service and recognition of your special day. Such bad service and so disappointing!
The food and service was great however, the awkward side room that we were placed in was terrible. Dead quiet, brightly lit, obviously an afterthought due to overbooking. Disappointed since we made reservations weeks ago. It will be a while before we return.
We had a very nice Valentine’s dinner. My only comment would be that I was surprised my cod was more like fish sticks. I thought it would be more like a filet similar to what I get at Culver’s. Otherwise, service was great, food was good and our waitress did keep checking on us. Thank you! We will be back. We want to try the juicy Lucy!
A special place to spend Valentine’s Day with your family or on a date
Beautiful restaurant, helpful staff, tasty food; however, not many choices for vegetarian, gluten-free. I did not take advantage of the buffet so, to be fair, perhaps there were gluten-free choices offered in that location. Very clean, well-maintained bathrooms, too! Ample parking.
Good food. Could have offered more specials. Good service. We enjoyed the evening.
Excellent variety and excellent food. We are already planning on coming back!
Our waitress was wonderful. Disappointing, though, that my medium well steak arrived bloody and dark in the middle. When it was returned from the kitchen, they forgot to return the container of bernaise. Not the best experience for a $32 steak.
I have visited the restaurant for weeknight dinner and Sunday brunch. Neither time was it very busy. The prices are very high for the food. It is good, but not outstanding or memorable at all. The restaurant is unbending for substitutions or restricted diets. The service is average, but again not outstanding. I have given it a fair try with a small intimate dinner and a medium sized group brunch. That is enough tries. We will not return or recommend.
We always have a nice evening out at Rockwoods! This was the first time I ordered filet there - and it was cooked to perfection. I'm picky about sitting in a booth vs. a table and our hostess accommodated that request. Our server was very attentive and the food was great.
We went for out 54th anniversary. We ordered Steaks. I accidently ordered the petite filet. I thought I was ordering the Filet Mignon. My husband ordered the 6 oz Filet, so he got what he expected. When I got my plate, I was disappointed but it was my mistake. The waitress (Michele) indicated the two steaks were pretty comparable because my cut was just above the cut my husband got.
Sadly, my steak was tough and full of unchewable parts. I pointed this out to the waitress when she picked up the plates. She did say, "I'm sorry you were disappointed."
On the plus side, the wine (Malbec) was very good and our appetizer (Burnt end Nachos) was great. My broccoli was done to perfection.
The venue is beautiful although we were a party of 4 and the table was a bit small for us to be comfortable. The waitress was nice. I don't believe we will ever go back for a steak dinner, but maybe just for the small plates or appetizers.
I certainly would not recommend the "Petite Tender Steak" at all. My husband's Filet Mignon was okay but certainly not the quality we would expect for the price. I will say "yes" to recommending the Rockwoods to a friend because of the appetizer and the service. Just don't get the steak!
Staff appreciation dinner...fantastic!
We used to come here more often, but had a couple bad experiences in the past year..., but tonight we had another great experience with food back to its previous excellence and cocktails that are hard to find anywhere else in the area. We will be back again
I took my 19 year old grandson for dinner here as he wanted to get something special! He had the ribeye and lobster tail and I had the petite Prime Rib with scalloped potatoes and vegetables. Both were spectacular and I believe both steaks were made on a wood fired grill and the Prime Rib was the best I have ever had! Mark was our server and was very attentive and brought my grandson several refills of his coke without being asked! We ended up joking with him that he was a spectacular chef. We will definitely make this stop again!
The Costumer Service at this restaurant is great! The Food has always impressed me and we always choose to come here on our date nights.
Unfriendly waitress which was the first time I encountered this at this restaurant.
We frequent Rockwoods often. Saturday we had a party of six and most were new to the restaurant. Everyone thought the food was very, very good. Unfortunately my meal was not great. I ordered the brisket and I was served two slices. One of the pieces of meat was good and the other was inedible. It was very fatty and I could not eat it. We love our server and have had her often as well. She took my plate away before asking if everything was ok. I did not get a chance to tell her my meal was not great. We definitely will return because our experience is always good at Rockwoods.
Great food and great service!
Everything was great except my filet was ordered as medium rare and there was no pink in it when it was served. I did not want to waste food or complain so I just ate it. It was still a great filet. Good portions, good dessert, and a fabulous martini! We will be back.
Very nice place, decorated very nice, waiter very attentive and food was very good. We had reservations and did not have to wait more than a couple minutes for service. We haven't been there for a few years but it was just as good as we remember.
My wife and I went out for an impromptu date with our 16 year old daughter on a Saturday night. We were able to get a reservation within an hour and were seated immediately upon arrival. First of all, this is a beautiful venue and gives a very new world/classical supper club feel to the experience. Tables, chairs and booths were all immaculate. We were seated in a large booth in one of the dining rooms. Our waiter was polite, well versed and willing to go above and beyond (Martin' was his name). When we eat out, we like to order meals which I do not cook or don't like to cook at home because of the complexity and mess. I ordered pan fried Walleye with accoutrements, my wife ordered the fish and chips and my daughter ordered boneless wings. The food was all a 10/10, the service absolutely flawless and the atmosphere was lovely. I say this having visited some of the worlds top supper clubs in the nation. My only advice to offer this top notch dining experience: We were seated in an area where Sunday brunch is served for all dining rooms. They began setting the brunch tables and broilers at the end of our meal. It was not noisy but there was a lot of activity and bustling next to our table. I truly did not mind it, but those activities are best taken care of at the conclusion of everyone's dining experience. I would recommend this restaurant 100% in the future.
Go there at least twice a month and it's always excellent.
Service was very slow. The mahi mahi was fishing and the chicken was really dry to the point it couldn’t be eaten. Server was really slow.
Staff was so wonderful. Dining rooms looked great. The Christmas decorations added to the ambiance. Table side Magic was worth driving from Minnetonka.
Our server Maria was fabulous! The food was absolutely wonderful. It was loud but that is to be expected with the busy holidays. We will definitely go back.
Great food, staff and atmosphere. Will definitely go back again.
Always excellent food and service. Usually go there 2-3 times a month.
We had a large party and the manager put us in a nice corner with a round table to allow for good conversation. Made for a very nice night.
Loved being able to make reservations!!! Loved the dining room, easy to talk. Food good, service good, love Rockwoods one of our favorite places!!
We had to ask twice for ketchup while our kids waited to eat. We also had to ask twice for our wine order. We were one of two tables the server had but she couldn’t seem to keep up.
Amazing food and great service! Ambiance is very nice and we really enjoyed our Anniversary Supper.
This was our first time here. We all really liked it and will definitely be back!
First time at Rockwoods, 4 of us and we all did the daily buffet (it was Taco Tuesday)...highlight was the fajita sliced flank steak, smoked beef ribs next up. Overall, food was very good for a buffet...made a couple trips and it was always hot and fresh. There was a large group in the room where we were seated...they were a bit noisy, until they got their food...then things quieted down. We plan on returning...highly recommended!
We were a table of 8, 1 person orders from the menu, 7 had the brunch buffet. Everything from water, to drinks to ordering took 3 times longer than it should have. We even had to set dirty plates on another table because our waitress never picked one up. We were almost done before she offered the mimosa and orange juice that came with it....then we were charged for pop (One might expect that since she forgot to offer the table orange juice, and people decided to order pop, as she might have comped those, but she didn’t). fortunate that I have eaten a buffet there before, and knew that this wasn’t typical service. But was very frustrated at the fact that I suggested that all eight of us eat there, and then got such poor service.
