Rockwood Tap House Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I have been here quite a few times and always had great service and food. However, this time around, on V-Day, we were not impressed with the honey mustard wings-they were dry and the cream of chicken with rice soup was okay, not enough flavor. Our marinated skirt steak was delicious, as always! thank goodness for that. The server came around as we had food in our mouths, but unable to find when we needed her and it was NOT busy for Valentines Day as we thought it would be.
Thursday is their "Fall off the Bone" BBQ Baby Back Ribs day. BBQ Ribs were excellent. My friend had the Tuna Steak sandwich medium rare and he said it was fantastic. Service was very good. It is very quiet at lunch time and that makes it a good place for business lunch meetings.
I noted in the reservation that it was for a birthday. When we were done eating I mentioned to the waitress that it was my friends birthday I asked if they offered any dessert. She said yes ice cream only. Then she said oh you could have gotten 20% off if I mentioned it and had the coupon that was emailed to me with the confirmation. I told her no coupon was on the email and so needless to say I guess making a note that it was for a birthday did no good.
Food was ok but over priced for what it was. Lots of bar food, hamburgers, etc. Did have a couple steaks and prime rib available at steak house prices but this is seriously just a bar with some booth seating. Decent beer selection but our flight was mislabeled so we ended up ordering the wrong full size glass. When we mentioned it, it was just brushed off by the server. Not likely to return as there are other better places in the area.
Dinner was fine, service was fine...but somehow, there's nothing special about this place. There was a decent crowd, our server was friendly and efficient, and there was nothing "wrong" with our food.
Yet I somehow felt the food was more "assembled" than cooked. I think we could re-create our meals out of the GFS Food Service freezer section---gravy out of a mix, guacamole from a container.
There was a nice selection of beers available, and the atmosphere was nice, hence there's no reason for a bad review. I'm just not sure there's much reason to go back.
I found this restaurant to be cozy and warm with a nice bar. The wait staff was attentive without being obtrusive. The food was average. We had the Southwest Eggrolls and the mini burgers. The sauce for the eggrolls was somewhat bland, but the egg rolls themselves were tasty. The mini burgers were nothing special. There was a sparse spread of sauce on them with a pickle skewered on top. We skipped dessert and had tea and coffee. The only tea they had was Lipton’s. That’s fine, but, step it up a knotch.
Lastly, we were in a both, which we wanted, but, the distance between the seat and table is a bit too much for a shorter person. I had to put my coat behind me and ended leaning forward, which ended up killing my back.
Would I return, yes. The menu looked good. Hopefully, the next time will be better.
Food was very good and our server was super nice and attentive. The only problem is that much of the seating is in the very large bar area. There was a group of people that were very loud and vulgar. Kids were in the area and management did nothing to quiet them down. Moral of the story is to ask to be seated in the area past the bar.
This was a great find. Beautiful place with very good food but I wonder about the future as it was very empty for a Saturday night. They might want to think about sprucing up the parking lot. When we drove up at first I was wondering if the place was open. Weeds and cracks in the parking lot do not make for a good first impression. Too bad because the interior is nice and the food was very good. Most every other restaurant in the area is packed on a Saturday night so the small crowd in this large restaurant made it easier to talk.
I will go back but they need to fix the exterior- the Profit would be aghast. Get some roundup and contact an asphalt company.
My husband and I decided to try this place out after seeing reviews on Open Table. We were pleasantly surprised with the decor and atmosphere. It was very relaxing and sort of rustic (wood and stone) which my husband likes. We had an AWESOME server named Devin (Please ask for him when you go in) he was so sweet, helpful with ordering and had great suggestions of food on the menu. My husband got the Boneless Pork Chops w/Apple Bourbon BBQ glaze, he loved it. I got the Carribean Chicken salad which was delicious. They have an huge Craft beer menu for those interested in that. We would definitely go back and will definitely ask for Devin.
The Friday special of 22oz beers for the price of 16 oz is now only 4pm - 6pm. We always come after 6pm and always took advantage of that. Sorry to say our waiter was the least personable we've had there since we started coming 5 years ago. We'll be back, but hope things are better next time.
