Our server tried to sneak in an extra $40 steak on our bill...
Mediocre food in a cafeteria environment
Service excellent A++
Nice dinner option for guests staying at the JW Marriott Desert Springs. Ahi Poke was very fresh and tasty. Steaks are a bit overpriced. Nice atmosphere.
average food. not bad but not exceptional.
service was poor. but they apologized and gave us a free desert for the slow service.
the waiter always asked the men first for their orders. the men would defer to the women and then the waiter would ask the women what they wanted. He always served the men first.
Our waitress was over the top amazing. She has been there a long time and so knowledgeable and polite and just over all a great person ! Makes you want to go back again. I think she has been there for 19 years when they had “Tuscany’” which was amazing !
The food and atmosphere was great. Our server didn’t tell us about the room to the left of the stairs on the other side of the hostess desk. We came in via the patio and totally missed where the carving station and donut wall were located. The table next to us sat down with crab legs after we ate and told us where those were served. That was disappointing.
Poor service overall. We order appetizers, entries and side dishes. Not only it took 1 he for the food to be ready but to add insult to injury, everything arrived all at once. This completely spoiled our evening. We asked to speak to a manager who showed up 10mn later and offered a Spa "pass" to me. I felt so insulted as that's all it was, a pass. We will never come here again.
3 of 4 thought meal was excellent. 1 struggled with menu choices - just not selections desired - not a venturesome diner either. Server outstanding.
This restaurant is an upscale option at the JW Marriott---a short walk from the Marriott Desert Villas. The scene is beautiful---especially the outdoor dining. The menu is limited but everything we ordered was done perfectly---Filet Mignon, Scallops, and Rotisserie Chicken. Our server was fantastic---so friendly and attentive.
Rockwood is one of my favorite places for Sunday Brunch. The food is awesome and the view from the patio is beautiful. My only recommendation is that they organize the hostess stand a little better. First impression is everything. They had three hostesses and they all seemed very confused and the restaurant was very busy.
Went with friends and family on a Friday night. We were told that we could either order from the menu or go through the buffet. Ordinarily we avoid buffets but after seeing this one, we changed our minds. This was the best buffet ever! Pasta, meats of all kinds, seafood, salads, veggies, desserts of all shapes and sizes, and an ice cream stand! Service was great and unobtrusive. Will definitely go back again!
We found this restaurant the week before and decided to try it due to the variety of seafood and prime rib. We liked it so much that we came back the following week with out of town guests. I hope they have this menu during the summer as it is a great value with good food and atmosphere.
Ask for server..Elaina. She is the nicest and most efficient. I’ve booked this restaurant three times with Open Table and each time I reach the reception desk they try to put me outside or in a location I don’t want. Even after I put my preferences on the reservation. This is a great food restaurant with a great chef. But the “seating” people just do what they want. This last time they seated us at the other end of the restaurant from the server I asked for. She saw us and reseated us in her area.
Food decent, crowded, irregular service, an overall unpleasant dining experience that I recommend only for people who seek the most accessible restaurant in a busy old hotel
attentive staff, high quality food and a beautiful view. we will definitely visit again soon
Just an average bar/restaurant in a neighborhood strip mall. Average, average, average, nothing more.
My husband and I both the had the filet. It was cooked as ordered and delicious. The plate was hot. The service was welcoming and prompt, much better than a few years ago. We loved the bacon wrapped fig appetizer. The grilled artichokes and potatoes were fine, but nothing special. I would go back.
Excellent wine and entree selections. Beautiful setting.
Dinner was good, service nice, beautiful surroundings outside.
Very nice Valentines Day dinner. Lovely setting. Filet was flavorful and tender.
We just had the best Valentines Dinner! When we arrived waitress Elena presented us with a special prix fixe menu developed by their Chef Albert Ruiz. The meal was executed perfectly. Our waitress Elena was most personable and attentive to our needs. Chef Ruiz has mastered flavorful meals from beginning to end. We look forward to returning They both went over and above our expectations
Love the place for Sunday brunch!
Excellent food and service in a very nice atmosphere. A little pricy but definitely worth it for the quality of food service and ambiance
Best service by a waitress I have ever experienced.
Great food, service and server."..................
It’s a beautiful relaxed place, great staff, food was excellent, everything was impeccable.
We enjoyed the dinner buffet very much. The seafood and prime rib were delicious. The dessert options were amazing. We love dining outside. I ended up eating breakfast, lunch and dinner here several times over my six day stay. All of our experiences were wonderful.
Having a second home in the desert, and hosting friends at such, we always bring our guests to the Marriott Desert Springs for a nice dinner out. The service and food this time was way below par. Initial acknowledgement of us seated at our table took 30 minutes. Finally get to order drinks and get a basket of bread (wife was starved) Drinks come 10 minutes later, and still no bread ( did I mention wife was starving? she's pre-diabetic) Order dinner. Got 5 meals right, one was wrong. All 3 of the 1/2 chicken orders were so bad that they were left on the plates. We promptly paid. left. and got something for my guests from in n'out. Great ambiance. Fix the food and we will be back.
Service was excellent and the restaurant is very convenient to the hotel.
Beautiful setting Have been multiple times for holiday buffets. Tried Christmas this year. So disappointing. All the breads were hard as rocks. very poor selection repeated throughout For 72 bucks each at least keep pouring the sparkling wine
This memorable brunch was on Christmas day - EVERYTHING about it was outstanding. From the huge variety of exquisitely prepared food to the professional & thoughtful service by Andrea to the perfectly glorious weather & exquisite setting outside on the lake at the JWMarriott in Palm Springs. Perfection was achieved by the whole team - management, chefs, front & back of the house staff - in creating this stellar dining experience.
AMAZING! It was my birthday and on Saturday night they have a Prime Rib and Seafood Buffet! Pasta bar, salads, appetizers! It was King Crab legs!!! $44 per person. We’re going back again this Saturday!!!
The service was slow and my entree was cold by the time it got to me. Expensive and disappointing.
We waited over an hour for our food without any explanation. When the food eventually arrived 3 of the pasta meals were cold and had to be sent back.
Food was the best part of the experience
Hostess was welcome and very respectful
Servers and food runners were loud in putting silverware and glasses. Need to learn more fine dining edicts. After dining and spending about $300 for only 2 people. The person left at the front desk refused to stamp the ticket for valet and we had to wait for manager to take care of it.
It wasn’t about the $8 valet parking but about the concept that the hostess said the normally validate tickets! They have some communication issues and as I said edicts about fine dining.. sadly for an establishment in JW Marriott.
We enjoyed an excellent dinner at the Rockwood Grill. The restaurant has the choice of inside or outside dining. This visit we chose inside along the expansive windows, as we decided to order their magnificent buffet for dinner. (Available Friday and Saturday.) Their set up for the buffet was quite amazing. The food choices included sufficient variety from soup and salads and a pasta station, to pizza, chicken strips and fries for the kids, to shrimp and crab legs to chicken and prime rib. And much more. The dessert selections were so beautiful from chocolate strawberries to pecan tarts to mousse chocolate cups and so many more selections. It almost looked too pretty to eat! Wines (extra) by the glass or bottle, and cocktails are also available. Service was friendly and professional. We were looking forward to returning to this restaurant on this trip and we definitely came away happy (and full).
The dinner was excellent from the bacon wrapped dates, to the meat and fish entrees, to the desserts. Our waitress was fantastic. By the time we finished our appetizers she was already a new “member” of our family. Would definitely go back.
We used to really enjoy this restaurant, but it just didn't seem to meet the bill this time. Friday night should have been at least moderately busy. Wasn't busy at all. Had our choice of any table.
I specified a special occasion (Anniversary), no mention of it by our waitress. Restaurant reported a "no show" to Open Table. Had our name wrong on the reservation at the restaurant. How can you do that when it is on the open table reservation? Food was good, but not spectacular as it has been in the past. Not sure we'll be back
Fantastic spot at the JW Marriott. I went to meet colleagues and business associates for lunch. Everything was fresh and wonderful. The calamari and tuna poke were delicious.
Rockwood was a fine dining experience. Nice setting overlooking the water and you can get a boat transport from hotel lobby to get there. Food was great although the menu was quite limited and a few were quite pricey.
Some items like steaks, were priced without any accompanying starch or vegetables. Service was fine but slow at times. Still all in all a nice place to dine.
