Portions are too large for two people. Food was just OK. I might return but only with a large group.
Overall great food. I highly recommend the princess chicken and ginger rice. The take on porkbuns as tacos for the appetizer was amazing. Overall had great ambience and decor, and delicious food. The only thing was that it did get a little loud on a Sunday night, but they were fairly busy.
The food and service was exquisite. The staff was super helpful and courteous. I have been before and everything has been wonderful each time. Highly recommend!!!
Food and service were great!
Decor of the restaurant is nice. Someone put a lot of effort into finishes and decorating.
All food items are a la carte which add up fast on final bill.
I had the grilled shrimp. The shrimp were ok but a bit mushy. They were on a bed of peas, corn and ???, which sounded good in the description but was a bit blah and non-creative in reality. The chef needs to come up with a new presentation for this menu item. My table mate had the carmelized shrimp which she said was delicious.
Green papaya salad was a B-; the dressing was tasty.
Food is very overrated IMO.
Service was adequate but it felt lack-luster, as they wanted minimal contact with the patrons.
I have no desire to eat here again.
Amazing food at Rock Sugar! The chicken lettuce cups were incredible and my long favorite the fried eggplant was delicious as well. Generous portions for the bowls
Great spot in LA!
We had an ideal table, inside in air conditioning, but looking out on the patio. Our food was very flavorful and 4 appetizers served 3 of us amply for dinner. Service was friendly and efficient.
We’ve eaten here several times and enjoyed it, but this was definitely our best meal here yet.
We had a great time! Great food and service. Thank you!
I was disappointed that they did not remind/ask us to validate our parking tickets. Since parking is free with validation we had to go back to the restaurant to get our tickets stamped. This was the second tina that it happened!
I have been a customer at Rock Sugar since 2010. I am always enthusiastic about coming and sharing my experiences with others. Unfortunately it was not what I had expected it to be. They didn’t bring the usual warm hand towels, I had to ask 3 times before they brought them freezing cold. The rice was also served significantly before the food and was slightly undercooked— making it cold while we waited for the rest of our food and ended up being tasteless.
2 for lunch- very disappointed the spicy cauliflower dish was removed from menu . We tried Brussel sprouts which were awful- nasty oil taste . salmon and festive rice were very good as were the cocktails.
I had the tasting menu and there was so much food. If you try that please go STARVING not hungry. The food was delicious.
The hostess was friendly but could not find my registration, she insisted I didn't have reservations. She finally got it straight. The restuarant was empty so didn't understand why it matter. I ordered ginger rice with shrimps and it didn't have any shrimp in it! Very disappointed
Superb from beginning to end! An explosion of amazing flavors with each dish! Each dish is perfection on a plate! Service is top notch!
Great pick and value for dineLA! Yummy food and wonderful service.
I went to RockSugar for lunch to take advantage of their $15 dineLA deal before it was over. I ordered the veggie stuffed flatbread and the spicy chicken meatball rice bowl. They were both delicious, especially the flatbread. I sat on the outdoor patio, and it was an enjoyable way to spend some of my afternoon. Unfortunately, as I was waiting for my meal, it started to take longer than I anticipated, so I had to ask my waiter to get my entree wrapped up to go so I wouldn't outstay my parking validation (from the movie I saw before lunch). He apologized and explained the kitchen was apparently a bit backed up that afternoon. I managed to get the rest of my food and the check taken care of just in time. All in all, still a good experience, and I'm sure I'll go back sometime!
Went with my family for Dine LA. The value was incredible- $15 each person for an appetizer and entrée lunch. The appetizers - samosas and satay was quite delicious. The crunchy calamari was so breaded, even my 10 year old daughter commented on it and did not like it at all (she loves calamari)...the 3 entrée, Salmon, Thai Chicken basil and Kuala Lumpur Noodles were so salty. It was unbearable. I mentioned it to the waiter and got a shrug. Love the ambience as the décor is so over the top, South East Asian that it was interesting :-)...however, will not be back.
Luxurious setting; friendly staff; wonderfully creative food, and lots of it! A really great spot.
not a great experience - delivered a flat bottle of Sparkling water followed by the wrong main course - cancelled that for it to arrive 20 minutes later and then charged for both the cancelled main and an extra bottle of water we didnt have . Wont be recommending or coming back
We waited about seven minutes for a server to show up. The papaya and green mango salad turned out to be a shredded carrot salad with a few bits of papaya and even less of green mango. We did not finish it and pushed it to the side but no entrée was brought after waiting 45 minutes. The waiter comes by and ask if we needed anything else to which we replied “Yes, our entrées!” He is apologetic and out they came after five minutes. We ordered the grilled cilantro shrimp which is exactly how it was described in the menu. The sambal egg plant however is not what we expected. It is fried not sautéed. The long pieces light at top sweet soy and has a small dollop of sambal which can be inhaled with one bite. To me this is as misleading as the salads description. Some balls sauce ties everything together and shouldn’t be a condiment that is optional and move to the side. The ginger fried rice had no ginger taste and had corn, which was not indicated on the menu. Had we known we were going to get a double dose of carbs in one dish we would have gotten a simple jasmine rice. To me this is as misleading as the salads description. Had we known we were going to get a double dose of carbs in one dish we would have gotten a simple jasmine rice. Our server was kind enough to comp our dessert to make up for the salad and the whole experience was one long waiting game. The simplest things like getting the check waiting for someone to pick up the card and run it, getting the card back involved long waits in between. We felt like the service was inconsistent because couples around us who were seated later had long left before we did. Their orders no less complicated than ours.
Kudos to the young man busing tables. He is attentive and takes his work seriously.
I wanted to order the dine LA menu however, there is a minimum of 2 dine LA order per table. The other girls on our table did not want to order the dine LA, so I couldn't. This is the first time I came across a restaurant with this requirement. It was not mentioned on the dine LA website either. Food was a little too salty. Chicken tikka masala was not very authentic. Thai Basil Cashew chicken could have more basil flavor, we barely tasted the basil.
The Seever Derick made our experience EXCEPTIONAL - all of his recommendations were delicious. His service was impeccable. It was a very enjoyable dining experience.
Server and food were great !
I dine here frequently for business lunch or dinner. Love the location, decor and zen ambiance. The food is a hit or miss. This time the later, the main entree was a major miss, I ordered the spicy cashew chicken and it tasted so salty it was inedible. Informed the waiter and the manager, who offered to substitute it, but due to lack of time, I declined. But was still unhappy about the dining experience to comment about it here. I cannot recommend eating here if the food is too salty. And sadly this has been the second time I’ve experienced this here at RockSugar in Century City.
As always it is a delightful restaurant to entertain clients, family or friends. Service is great anf food delicious.
Excellent all around . Food was particular great ....service great p
The decor is incredibly beautiful! And the beef skewer appetizer and Malaysian Beef entree are not to be missed!!! If you don't like spicy, just ask for everything without peppers! And for something on the sweet side, the butter cake is amazing!!! I love coming here!
Service is top notch. Great tasting food. Lots of flavor in one bite. I had the crunchy calamari for appetizer. Good crunchy calamari but didn’t like the sauce it came with. I had the Malaysian Salmon for the entrees. Crispy on the outside flaky on the inside, and is just superb. Mango with coconut sticky rice for dessert is making me comeback for more. Mango is topped with lime zest. Overall great experience and highly recommended.
My girlfriend’s mom came to visit from out of the country. We all enjoyed the food (as always) and loved the dessert!
Went there with friends for a Dine LA menu and the food was great. It was a great value for the price.
I love RockSugar from day one... Glad they are still in the Mall.... KUDOS
Normally, the service is quick and the bill is right, but our server just was not cutting it for my books. I enjoy the food here, and with DineLA, feel like I'm getting a good deal. However, it should not take 2 hours to get through lunch. fortunately, this was my day off...
Love the ambience
Very nice decoration
Food is good
Price is reasonable
Inside beautiful mall and they gave parking validation
Great ambience. Loved the food. Subtle flavours were blended well, a bit too sweet at times though. Attentive and knowledgeable staff. A definite revisit.
Enjoyed a late night dinner after a movie on a Saturday evening. We took advantage of the DineLA menu and we were not disappointed. My husband and I ordered and shared different dishes and the selections were flavorful and absolutely delicious! From the service ("Thanks Jonathan") to the ambiance (al fresco dining on a pleasant summer evening) to the quality of the food were all first rate. This is our second time dining at RockSugar and we look forward to coming back again and again!
The service and restaurant was very good in general.
Since it was very busy, it was quite noisy.
The food is good, but not terribly authentic.
We later found out that this restaurant is owned by the Cheesecake Factory, so that accounts for how well run the restaurant is, but food taste level for Pan Asian is not that spot on.
Was last there in November - it was very good then but excellent during most recent visit in July. Food is high quality, creative, and most importantly delicious. Service was exceptional despite very large crowd and varied menu. Prices are reasonable. Yum!
The food is delicious and the Dine LA menu is an OUTSTANDING value!!
Menu was extensive and a good selection. The orders came slowly and were good but it seemed as if some of the items sat for a while. It was kinda pricey so I don’t think I would go back unless I was with a large group.
