This is one of the most striking restaurant spaces in Los Angeles. The Pan Asian cuisine is unusual in that each dish is very well prepared by a chef indigenous to the country of origin. The fish and vegetable dishes were conspicuously well prepared.
Always a great experience. Outstanding food ambience and service.
Wonderful ambiance! Nice dishes and excellent service. Definitely worth and not pricey!
Delicious food. Creative South Pacific menu. Opulent decor. Great service. The chicken saté is surprisingly good and the ‘special Rice’ is truly that. Don’t skip the Vietnamese coffee ice cream.
First time, beautiful decor, great food, great service. Very recommend!!
The minute you walk into the entrance you feel as though you’ve been transported to some sort of Thai temple. The ambiance is spectacular. It’s great to dine with a group and share many plates. There are so many great choices but beware that the food can be a bit spicy, but it’s all very very tasty. We always enjoy our meals here.
Poor service : we’ve waited 25min to get 2 (simple) dishes.
Consistently great food and service. I haven't been here in a while and was pleased that they added some new, tasty items to the menu. Lots of great food options to fit even the most finicky eater.
Rocksugar is one of my favorite place to dine in for special occasions and always meet my expectations.
Always a fave place - server was slow to get to the table initially but food came out quickly.
Rock sugar has been a favorite of mine for the last eight years and every time I go there I am always impressed not only with the hosting but the food itself. The food is not only outstanding but is very cost-effective. I am glad to know that a restaurant like yours exist and your staff is second to known.
Just a quick note: Your hostess not only recognized us but she recognized that my girl had actually cut her hair and made reference to it. That’s what I call doing your job!!!!!! What a hostess (Black Girl)
We always bring family and friends to this restaurant! The food is always great! I am vegetarian so this restaurant has a lot of options. Drinks are also good!
I must apologize, our server was really sweet. I forgot her name.
Our reservation time was 8:30. We checked in at 8:32 and were told they were running behind by 5-10 minutes, I walked outside and came back 5 minutes later and my friends said “hey they just called your name”, it is now 8:42...I was told it would be a few more minutes...at 9:00 (LAME) that’s 30 minutes after our reservation time, we were taken to our table, which they were still setting so we had to stand in the middle of the restaurant while they finished (LAME) and after we were seated we waited 12 MINUTES (LAMEST) before we were addressed by our waitress!
So my 8:30 reservation technically started at 9:30...
No apologies from the waitress for making us wait almost 15 minutes before even acknowledging us, no apologies from the staff for making us wait 30 minutes for our table or for having us stand like idiots in the middle of the restaurant while they were setting the table...
So you tell me, how do you think our experience was that night?
Everything was terrific with the exception of being seated outside of the private room. There was an extremely loud group in there and we had to ask the waitress to close the door. It didn't make much of a difference because there is open space above the doors. It was very annoying. I suggest to diners to never be seated near that room when a party is going on inside.
The wait staff was courteous and friendly. The service was prompt and attentive. The food was delicious from the beef skewers and meatballs to the Tikka Masada and 2 shrimp dishes we ordered. Drinks were great and I enjoyed a refreshing non alcoholic beverage. Ambience was perfect. Overall a great night out and we had 2 friends join us for their fist time and they were equally impressed
I brought my mom to a mom’s day out. She’s usually very picky with her food but RockSugar definitely rocked her appetite! From the moment we entered the restaurant, the vibe was perfect. We didn’t have to wait because we had a reservation but the place seemed continuously moderately busy throughout our dining time-enough for all the staff to calmly serve and interact with the guests. Interior is beautiful! Our server was Natalia and she was really nice, accommodating and had full knowledge of the menu. She explained the nature of their service really well as well as the food. Our busser I didn’t get the chance to get the name of, was definitely hard working. I appreciate him a lot. She made sure our table was always pre-bussed leaving no empty plates on the table for a long time.
Food was A1, no words! We were a family of 3 and most items were shareable . We got the chicken satay, fried calamari and potstickers for appetizers. For me, the potstickers was the winner but the other 2 didn’t fail either. we got the garlic rice as well which was served with eggs on top but it’s usually chef’s recommendation to mix it early and so our food runner did it for us. I didn’t know her name but she was really friendly too lol. And then we had the green curry, princess chicken and shaking beef. The curry tasted like home to me, delicious! Princess chicken is a bit too sweet for me while the shaking beef was outstanding, meat was perfectly cooked.
Every bite was literally heaven, ambience is perfect for any occasion really, be it date nights, office or friends gathering but the best part is it’s also perfect for families-kids friendly! RockSugar is definitely my new favorite restaurant in town! Thank you for being a part of my mom’s day out. It’s a great finish to a great day!
The food and ambiance were fantastic! The service was excellent as always!
Good food, good service. And since I asked for a quiet table, we were put in the side room, so we could talk. We were with a friend from Paris who was delighted.
What an incredible restaurant! The food and ambiance were superb. I wish I lived closer I would come every week.
Great food. The pho was delicious and not heavy. Everything we had including dessert was delicious, nutritious and did not leave us feeling heavy after the meal. Beautiful decorations that left you feeling calm and relaxed the whole time you are there. Great staff and wonderful service.
Great food and ambiance! The meals are very filling and service was a gem too. I went for lunch and it was a quick bite with a nice view on the terrace patio. Definitely will return again!
Fantastic food, ambience, and service! Great for any occasion and special occasions!
Always great here
The staff were so kind and helpful! We hd ordered a dish that had not said on the menu that contained egg. When our dish showed up, it had egg in it. We told our waitress we didn’t know it had egg, and we cannot eat egg. She quickly took it back with ease and said no worries the kitchen will make you another one. Just calmly, she took it back without an attitude or fuss. We were impressed! And she brought back our eggless dish! It was delicious!!
Food was good but didn’t mention anything about our anniversary. Kind of made the experience bitter sweet.
Food was amazing but the service was very slow. Overall a good experience.
One of my favorite places to eat. Food is always excellent. Service was good as usual.
Everything was wonderful. We went there for a birthday, party of four, and got 5 appetizers, two noodle dishes, fried rice, the shaking steak and the wild cod. There wasn't a single thing we didn't enjoy. With ordering so many things, you would think that there would be a few that tasted alike, but I really feel like we had nine distinct, delicious plates of food. It's all great for sharing and the ambience is beautiful. You can tell that a lot of care went into every detail, in both the decor and the recipes. To top it off, the service was amazing. The meal was properly paced and empty plates were cleared immediately so even though we ordered a ton of food, the table never felt cluttered. This is a great restaurant!
The décor of the restaurant was great
Food was even better.
Always delicious but today was extra good. Probably have the best kitchen staff Saturday nights. Ribs and coconut rice were amazing. Pork buns were just ok, though.
Food was great. Alan was a great server to our party. Will definitely return when in the LA area.
No greeting from first host. Food excellent. Our server went on break, but the fill in didn't know it was my wife's birthday. Right before we walked out after finishing our meal, our server caught us. She then brought my wife a birthday dessert. Everything good, excellent, except for the initial greeting.
The ambiance is very interesting to say the least. The food was O.K. I love green papaya salad. I found their version not very authentic. My guy was very satisfied. I loved their Three Pot Creme Brulee.
The staff is always very nice and courteous.
We were there for lunch - overall a nice experience - service was very slow though - and we waited for about 1/2 hour just to get the teas we ordered. When I mentioned we were still waiting for our tea to our waiter he said they were still steeping?! And when the teas finally arrived they were all already cold. I guess they over steeped them! Food was good.
When RockSugar first opened we used to come all the time. It was one of our favorite places. I think we stopped going because we didn’t want to face the mall. Friday my now 14 year old daughter was going to the mall with friends so we met her for dinner so we could drive her home. RockSugar is as good as it always was good food great dessert fun ambiance and lovely service. Will definitely go back more often. Glad we returned to our old standby and we weren’t disappointed.
Great food! Great ambiance! Great service! Love this place!
Definitely a gorgeous place to have Lunch or Dinner. It's like dining in a beautiful Asian palace.
The food seems authentic and all dishes are outstanding. The Butter Cake for dessert, is a great favorite with my son and son-in law. The Vietnamese Coffee ice cream is wonderful. We started our Sunday lunch with different appetizers., Glazed Pork Belly sandwiches, Calamari, Pot Stickers, all fabulous! Then we filled in with Carmel Chicken, Cellophane Noodles, and the deep fried Shrimp.
Everything was perfect especially thanks to the amazing manager, Jessica. She was such a joy to meet and attentive to our table. Food and drinks were top notch.
I always enjoy RockSugar as they have creative Asian fusion cuisine. We had veggie potstickers and chicken satay to start and then shaking beef, grilled veggies, pad Thai noodles, grilled salmon with veggies, and a delicious chocolate cake for dessert along with mango and sticky rice. The waiters are always friendly and helpful.
