This place checks all the boxes (except one!) of an excellent dining experience... the food, service and ambiance is incredible. The decor is so lavish, yet zen. My only complaint was the hostess. When asked if we could sit in the patio, (after she started walking to a table) she was incredibly annoyed. She walked us back to the hostess stand and copped a bit more of an attitude before agreeing to let us sit in patio area. Mind you, we had reservations and the place was not packed. I am baffled with the elitist hostess attitude these days, especially since they set the tone of your first impression. Other than the rude hostess, the wait staff were exceptionally good!
Atmosphere and service was good. The food was honestly horrendous and tasted like something had been poorly heated in the microwave from a previously frozen box. Will not return here again.
I love this place. Food is always good and the service is impeccable! Beautifully decorated restaurant! I highly recommend it!
love this restuarnt but very disappointed that they recently changed the menu and removed many of my favorite items...bring them back !!
This was our first time, and it will not be our last!
Quality service and food, the bartender was very helpful.
Service was very slow. I've come here for lunch many times during lunch - it was far better service and food. I think the kitchen and staff were overwhelmed - but that is not excuse for cold food arriving late to the table. It took more than 20 minutes to even take our order down once we were seated.
Our go-to restaurant for special occasions in addition to always a nice place to stop for lunch or light meal after shopping. We love everything about Rock Sugar, the fresh menu, the top-notch staff, and the gorgeous decor.
We loved the pork belly tacos, the green Thai curry, and the butter chicken. The service was friendly and prompt.
The RockSugar Butter Cake and Lychee Mules were really good. Vegetarian Samosas that looked like egg rolls were super crunchy and hot.
You can never go wrong with Rock Sugar no matter what time of the day. The Cucumber Lemonade sets the tone for the meal. GREAT AMBIANCE!!!
Upon entrance, I very pleased by the ambiance, as I was greeted by the soundtrack of birds and other tropical noises. The vibe was nice for an evening with friends, a romantic date, or a casual meal, after some shopping at the mall! The food was nothing spectacular, but it satisfied. With that being said, I’m not sure I would go again. I’d prefer to go to Eataly, in the same plaza!
We had eaten at RockSugar previously and really enjoyed the entire experience. When my son had come home for the holidays we decided to treat ourselves to a family dinner. Our waiters were unhelpful, the brown rice was not cooked and we had to spit it out. Also items appeared in random order. The appetizers, curry and noodles was fantastic. Moreover the restaurant was not even busy to explain the lack of attention from our waiters.
Great ambiance, food menu and customer services for happy hour or dining
I have gone there many times and also introduced the restaurant to friends of mine. I always order the Jicama Grapefruit salad, this time though, and this is the first time, the kitchen forgot to add the caramelized walnuts to the salad. My friends who were there for the first time, may be didn't care that much. What made matters worse, I told the waiter and he literally brings us 3 walnuts??? We ordered two of those salads? And there are usually at least 10 of those caramelized walnuts in one salad. Company cut back comes to mind? LOL Disappointing - because the sour and bitter grapefruits dressing was perfectly balanced with the sweet caramelized Walnuts. Will I go back there? Possibly, but only if they give me in writing that I will get the walnuts!
Great food, great selection. Knowledgeable service.
It was couples’ date night. We choose this restaurant at random and it exceeded our expectations! Food was great so were the drinks!!
We never had a complaint, doesn’t matter how many times we order a plate, the taste is always the same... and if select a new dish, it’s also delicious. Great place!!
The Food was great and the atmosphere was awesome. Most restuarants have one or the other but this one had both. The entire staff was very friendly. Our waitress Jessica was the best! She answered all of questions in regards to healthy food choices and knew the menu inside and out. We had a great experience and we will definitely be going back for dinner in the near future.
Excellent food and wait staff. We eat here often-it never disappoints!
This is a beautiful space and the food is delicious Our waitress was very helpful in suggesting dishes and what quantity would be right for our group. They validate parking in century city and they do a great job of packing up leftovers, giving you a "hat check" and holding them at the exit.Unfortunately the acoustics make for a very loud atmosphere.
It was very decevant
The food wasnt so good
Thé service wasnt professionnal
Great food. I have been here about 5 times and everyone I come I try something new. Have not been disappointed at all
This is a terrific restaurant if you like Asian food. Every order was brought hot and quick.
Portions are too large for two people. Food was just OK. I might return but only with a large group.
Overall great food. I highly recommend the princess chicken and ginger rice. The take on porkbuns as tacos for the appetizer was amazing. Overall had great ambience and decor, and delicious food. The only thing was that it did get a little loud on a Sunday night, but they were fairly busy.
The food and service was exquisite. The staff was super helpful and courteous. I have been before and everything has been wonderful each time. Highly recommend!!!
Food and service were great!
Decor of the restaurant is nice. Someone put a lot of effort into finishes and decorating.
All food items are a la carte which add up fast on final bill.
I had the grilled shrimp. The shrimp were ok but a bit mushy. They were on a bed of peas, corn and ???, which sounded good in the description but was a bit blah and non-creative in reality. The chef needs to come up with a new presentation for this menu item. My table mate had the carmelized shrimp which she said was delicious.
Green papaya salad was a B-; the dressing was tasty.
Food is very overrated IMO.
Service was adequate but it felt lack-luster, as they wanted minimal contact with the patrons.
I have no desire to eat here again.
Amazing food at Rock Sugar! The chicken lettuce cups were incredible and my long favorite the fried eggplant was delicious as well. Generous portions for the bowls
Great spot in LA!
We had an ideal table, inside in air conditioning, but looking out on the patio. Our food was very flavorful and 4 appetizers served 3 of us amply for dinner. Service was friendly and efficient.
We’ve eaten here several times and enjoyed it, but this was definitely our best meal here yet.
We had a great time! Great food and service. Thank you!
I was disappointed that they did not remind/ask us to validate our parking tickets. Since parking is free with validation we had to go back to the restaurant to get our tickets stamped. This was the second tina that it happened!
I have been a customer at Rock Sugar since 2010. I am always enthusiastic about coming and sharing my experiences with others. Unfortunately it was not what I had expected it to be. They didn’t bring the usual warm hand towels, I had to ask 3 times before they brought them freezing cold. The rice was also served significantly before the food and was slightly undercooked— making it cold while we waited for the rest of our food and ended up being tasteless.
2 for lunch- very disappointed the spicy cauliflower dish was removed from menu . We tried Brussel sprouts which were awful- nasty oil taste . salmon and festive rice were very good as were the cocktails.
I had the tasting menu and there was so much food. If you try that please go STARVING not hungry. The food was delicious.
The hostess was friendly but could not find my registration, she insisted I didn't have reservations. She finally got it straight. The restuarant was empty so didn't understand why it matter. I ordered ginger rice with shrimps and it didn't have any shrimp in it! Very disappointed
Superb from beginning to end! An explosion of amazing flavors with each dish! Each dish is perfection on a plate! Service is top notch!
