Rocks on the River at the Bohemian Hotel - Savannah Ratings and Reviews
Unfortunately this was a big let down. The overall lack of service and poor quality of food and presentation is substandard for any Marriott brand, but especially an Autograph series hotel. Hair in my food aside, the breakfast was cold, eggs were dry and bacon bathed in grease. Just not good.
Rocks is a lovely, low key restaurant right on Savannah's River Street. Service has always been friendly and prompt. The drinks are well crafted if a bit pricy. Have enjoyed the food from appetizers like charcuterie boards to shrimp and grits. Even the bread is delicious.
The food was ok. We have vistes this restaurant on a few occasions when in Savannah. I’m not sure if Management has changed but the food was not like I remembered and the items on the menu are not what comes out of the kitchen. When I inquired about the missing ingredients in my meal the manger said it was the wording in the menu not the actual Ingredients that are in the meal itself. What does that mean?? Anyways. Please bring back the old Rocks food and quality were much better.
Our server, Aspen, was just terrible. She clearly didn’t want to be at work on New Year’s Day for brunch, and took it out on us. She was barely enthusiastic, forgot to put drink orders in, never offered refills unless we asked (usually multiple times), forgot condiments, etc. It wasn’t that busy, but our food clearly sat for awhile. My friends hollandaise looked congealed, my bread and sweet potato fries were burned, no condiments on anyone’s sandwich like the menu said. Everyone’s food came out and different times so some people had cold food by the time the last two got plates. Aspen said she forgot the English muffins but forgot even after we asked twice. But she wasn’t apologetic about any of it. She said a blase sorry at the very end without looking up and walked off. Not sure if this is typical but she should find a new job.
We had New Years brunch here, which was nice and quite (so much so service was below average). Our Crab Cake Benedict was great, and Rocks Sandwich. Our drinks were never refilled and our service actually asked if we wanted refills, which we asked for. It's not a bad place to eat, just make sure you're sat somewhere in the restaurant where they "don't forget about you"
Obviously overbooked (reservation + walk-ins) for Xmas dinner...crowded, noisy, wait to beat seated with reservations, food tasted great BUT barely warm asked for horseradish for prime rib—finally got it for the last 2 bites.
Would like to try it again but on a “regular” night
The restaurant was supposed to be reservation only for Christmas night, however on arrival at 6.50 for 7pm reservation we were told they were not sure how.long before seating. The GM had allowed walking earlier to be seated and then they could not seat reservations. A four top was available so we joined another couple at took this table. Every course was slow, either undercooked or overcooked, three meals of four served each course. Soup served with cilantro when requested not, lobster ravioli served with shrimp no lobster, lamb burned outside raw at the bone served with butter knives. Dessert pie crust raw on the bottom. No quality control from the kitchen. The first time I got up and complained I was brought second glass of wine and "whispered" so sorry. Served across each guest instead of over shoulders. Table was actually cleared with a plastic tub while we were sitting. I am disappointed and appalled at the service. A junior manager came to the table at the end of the night and ask for feedback which I freely gave. Thanked him and told him it should have been the GM out front hearing the problems
We were grateful to found a place in Savannah open on Christmas day. The food here was good and we found others in the holiday spirit that made our experience even better. The location was good and the service was excellent despite the very hectic and crowded surroundings.
We booked a reservation two weeks in advance and got sat in a walk way with plenty of open tables. We spoke to the manager about paying $350 dollars to be served sub par food in a servers walkway and he blew it off.
I would recommend the mansion on Forsyth all day long but not this place at all!
This waterfront location was a lovely place to have Xmas Eve dinner. The pre-fixe meal was fulfilling, but should have been mentioned when the reservation was confirmed. They did accomodate my daughter with a chicken finger meal since did not easy any foods from the fre-fixe menu. She complained her chicken tasted freezer burned and it looked over cooked. The server didn't even address this when I told him about it. She didn't even eat it when she brought it home. We ended up taking her to Wendy's afterwards, which wasn't a very memorable Xmas Eve meal nor what I wanted her to eat. I feel that her meal should have been addressed and fixed to an edible dish, at least to a better then Wendy's quality for such a nice restaurant. This was our first visit here. The seafood soup & lamb with fig sauce was delicious and a must have if you visit. It was served with some sort of rice awesomeness... that's what I'm making it since I don't remember the name.
I noticed they offered a variety of Eggs Benedict plates which we enjoy so I reserved. When we arrived no one greeted us and there was staff all over the place and the restaurant was not busy at noon. We finally were seated and ordered our drinks/meals. I asked if the OJ was fresh squeezed and was told yes but it wasn’t. It was concentrate. Then the food was way too salty and not hot. We both ordered the Rocks Benedict. The cappuccinos tasted like burnt coffee. No one came to ask how things were nor to top off water glasses or ask if we needed anything. I was still eating, had half my meal still on my plate, when our waitress came to drop our check. We hadn’t asked for it and it’s not like they needed the table since the place was 80% empty. Simply rude and awful service. BEWARE...overpriced and not worth it
We had an absolute terrible experience at this restaurant. We went in for a friends birthday and were disappointed from start to finish. The service and food were equally terrible (cold food that took forever to come, uncooked burgers, tasteless crab cakes). The servers and manager were rude and unprofessional (eating and doing spit balls in the open kitchen, servers didn’t wash their hands after using restroom). They did end up comping a good deal of our meal. We were one of 4 tables in the whole restaurant and we saw 3 of those 4 tables complain.
I would recommend the restaurant but not for a "celebration" occasion. The restaurant was overall average, I was a bit disappointed that we were not offered a complimentary dessert for our anniversary (the waitress was aware of our celebration as I noted it on our reservation). I also noticed the couple beside our table received a bread basket, I'm guessing this is customary? We, however, did not receive the bread basket but did have bread plates on our table.
This was our first visit to Savannah and came here as it was highly recommended. The lamb was perfectly prepared. The potatoes and asparagus that accompanied it were also delicious (especially with the truffle butter!) Came back a few days later, late night and enjoyed the charcuterie board. All in all amazing food I would highly recommend!!
Thanksgiving dinner was a bust. Despite the restaurant having multiple empty tables they were quoting 1 hour and 30 mins wait time. Thankfully we had a reservation.
Server approached our table with hands full of dirty plates.
Wine ordered along with 2 kids drinks. Wine was delivered but the kids drinks took a further 20 minutes to arrive.
Goats cheese app was burnt.
Veg on starter was so cold it was nearly freezing, like the plate had been prepare and was stacked in the cooler.
Turkey plate stuffing was cold on the inside. Turkey plate as a whole was very bland.
Short rib chewy. Mashed potatoes were lumpy.
Desserts tasted like a supermarket off shelf packaged goods.
Intermittent clearing of plates. Missing cutlery. And 15 minutes waiting for the check.
All in all a poor meal and experience.
They had a special thanksgiving menu which was great, however they didn’t have any vegetarian options for a main course. We went expecting their regular menu to be available (nothing said otherwise) and were informed upon arrival. Being a vegetarian, it was disappointing. I ended up having an over priced beet salad as my meal. Overall, it was overpriced and okay food.
I've dined at the Boheme in Orlando and there was a stark difference in everything. For one the Service wasn't the best at the Savannah location. We had to wait a considerable time before we were served, and the place wasn't busy. We saw another person do the same. She actually got up and found a server, just so she could be helped. When our server finally came, she was attentive (I'm sure the look on my face helped) I ordered the Shrimp and Grits and it was served as a Grit Cake. This is not how shrimp and Grits should be served, especially in the South. I appreciate the innovative approach to the dish, but it ruined it for me. The cake was too dense and there was not enough sauce to compensate for the dryness the cake brought to the meal. I had to ask them to provide me with "creamy" grits to make the dish edible. So of the Boheme reads this. Please stop with any grit cake. Maybe if i hadn't had the experience of the Orlando Boheme, my review would be a little better, but I've dine at the Orlando Boheme at least 30-40 times since it opened and both the service and the meals have been top notch. I suggest the team from Savannah work with the team from Orlando to improve the experience.
This was a big disappointment. The server did a really poor job. It took us over an hour to get our food. One of my friends ordered a salad and the lettuce wasn't washed. It had bits of sand all over it! The server sent the manager over, and he didn't charge us for the salad. When he heard about our server, he also deducted three drinks from the bill. All of that was very nice of him, but we still won't go back.
