I would recommend the restaurant but not for a "celebration" occasion. The restaurant was overall average, I was a bit disappointed that we were not offered a complimentary dessert for our anniversary (the waitress was aware of our celebration as I noted it on our reservation). I also noticed the couple beside our table received a bread basket, I'm guessing this is customary? We, however, did not receive the bread basket but did have bread plates on our table.
This was our first visit to Savannah and came here as it was highly recommended. The lamb was perfectly prepared. The potatoes and asparagus that accompanied it were also delicious (especially with the truffle butter!) Came back a few days later, late night and enjoyed the charcuterie board. All in all amazing food I would highly recommend!!
Thanksgiving dinner was a bust. Despite the restaurant having multiple empty tables they were quoting 1 hour and 30 mins wait time. Thankfully we had a reservation.
Server approached our table with hands full of dirty plates.
Wine ordered along with 2 kids drinks. Wine was delivered but the kids drinks took a further 20 minutes to arrive.
Goats cheese app was burnt.
Veg on starter was so cold it was nearly freezing, like the plate had been prepare and was stacked in the cooler.
Turkey plate stuffing was cold on the inside. Turkey plate as a whole was very bland.
Short rib chewy. Mashed potatoes were lumpy.
Desserts tasted like a supermarket off shelf packaged goods.
Intermittent clearing of plates. Missing cutlery. And 15 minutes waiting for the check.
All in all a poor meal and experience.
They had a special thanksgiving menu which was great, however they didn’t have any vegetarian options for a main course. We went expecting their regular menu to be available (nothing said otherwise) and were informed upon arrival. Being a vegetarian, it was disappointing. I ended up having an over priced beet salad as my meal. Overall, it was overpriced and okay food.
I've dined at the Boheme in Orlando and there was a stark difference in everything. For one the Service wasn't the best at the Savannah location. We had to wait a considerable time before we were served, and the place wasn't busy. We saw another person do the same. She actually got up and found a server, just so she could be helped. When our server finally came, she was attentive (I'm sure the look on my face helped) I ordered the Shrimp and Grits and it was served as a Grit Cake. This is not how shrimp and Grits should be served, especially in the South. I appreciate the innovative approach to the dish, but it ruined it for me. The cake was too dense and there was not enough sauce to compensate for the dryness the cake brought to the meal. I had to ask them to provide me with "creamy" grits to make the dish edible. So of the Boheme reads this. Please stop with any grit cake. Maybe if i hadn't had the experience of the Orlando Boheme, my review would be a little better, but I've dine at the Orlando Boheme at least 30-40 times since it opened and both the service and the meals have been top notch. I suggest the team from Savannah work with the team from Orlando to improve the experience.
This was a big disappointment. The server did a really poor job. It took us over an hour to get our food. One of my friends ordered a salad and the lettuce wasn't washed. It had bits of sand all over it! The server sent the manager over, and he didn't charge us for the salad. When he heard about our server, he also deducted three drinks from the bill. All of that was very nice of him, but we still won't go back.
Just okay. Had brunch...coffee was good...didn't realize the restaurant was the hotel restaurant for a chain hotel or probably would have chosen something else...something locally owned. I had to send my omelet back to be redone as the ingredients were incorrect. Fruit was good, omelet was good although somewhat greasy when it was corrected. Server failed to bring out toast as ordered with meal, so the toast was cold. My dining partner got the wrong type toast.
Worst service we've experienced in a long time. Waited for everything, drinks., appetizers and dinner. Dinner took extremely long . At one point our waiter was missing for almost 15 minutes. Hostess often not at front desk so we couldn't even get her to find waiter. When he turned up and we mentioned our concern he just said sorry but kitchen is "crazy busy tonight" , restaurant barely half fool. We noticed at least 2 other people also looking for wait staff or food. Would not recommend or go back. Too many other places to choose from.
Specifically made reservations for the “All you can eat mussels”, unfortunately no mussels. Was explained they didn’t get their shipment.
Ok on to plan B. Ordered crab cake and fried green tomato appetizer for my dinner. Very good. Crab cake had little filler and was great. Same with fried green tomatoes. Very satisfied.
On to husband’s entree. Got the market fish of the day which was swordfish. Delicious and cooked to medium rare which is his preference. Accompanied by jasmine rice which was way too salty. Understand rice needs seasoning but this was overdone. Asparagus requested; too salty. Could not eat . Did not feel that, upon sharing with waitstaff, was communicated. No one came over to discuss his comments.
Would we go back for dinner? Maybe but for what the dinner cost, I think we can do better elsewhere.
The condensation from the AC in the ceiling made for a messy and uncomfortable experience. The staff seems like they were going in different directions and not organized. For example, I was told the wait would be over an hour. I looked in open table and it said thirty minutes, so I booked a reservation for thirty minutes and informed the staff my friend and I would wait at the bar. The hostess blamed the technology and said that’s so weird that it’s not working. We walked over to the bar to sit down and grab a drink I noticed that all of the stools were wet, so I asked for a napkin and the bartender snapped at me and said it’s from the condensation from the AC and there’s nothing we can do about it. While I was sitting at the bar a drop of disgusting AC ventilation water dropped into my eye.
Then when we got to our table finally, the waitress didn’t know the menu well enough to recommend entrees for my food allergies. So I ended up ordering lentil soup because it was the only thing close to what I can eat. The soup was good, but I was disappointed in the overall experience. On top of all of that, it was so loud in there I couldn’t hear myself and it physically hurt my ears.
We were visiting for a Babymoon vacation and requested a table for a romantic meal via open table. The staff had a wonderful nearly private table for two tucked by a window looking at the river walk. It was a wonderful experience.
The food was a more typical American menu; however the quality was very good, and the beer menu was excellent.
From the moment our hostess failed to greet us, and the barely acknowledged our presence with a sneer, the service we experienced was woeful. When a server eventually took pity on us and took our order it took 25 mins for a Bloody Mary to arrive, and the pace at which our food came was similarly lethargic. We were in no rush, and as Europeans, we are used to a more relaxed pace of dining, but this was several stages beyond relaxed. Food was OK when it came (hard to go wrong with Caesar salad, smoked salmon and bagel) but really not worth the wait.

From the moment I walked through door I was greeted and made to feel welcome.
Had dinner reservations for 7 and was a little early by design. I headed up to the rooftop lounge for a drink. Lounge staff were friendly and prompt.
I had the lamb for dinner, it was tender and prepared perfectly.

Our server Cody was wonderful and very attentive. He had a warm personality and even made a suggestion for my boyfriend to check his steak to make sure it was cooked correctly. Unfortunately it was over cooked, but Cody quickly took care of the issue and later even gave us both a glass of their house Pinot Grigio which was very unexpected. This was the first dining experience I've had at Rocks and I would definitely recommend to someone when they visit Savannah, but I would say that the rooftop is probably the best part. I don't think I would come back to the restaurant, but will always enjoy the live music upstairs and beautiful views of Savannah.
We went for our anniversary dinner while staying at the Bohemian. I ordered the salmon dinner special, it came out as a white fish that was clearly not salmon. My husband was half way through with his meal when server came back to check in. I explained what I had was not what I ordered. She said, "oh that must be mahi, I'll reorder your food". My husband was finished eating when the server brought out a piece of salmon on a small plate. Meanwhile my sides that accompanied my wrong meal were cold and gross. Very frustrating. The manager came over and profusely apologized and comped our meal and some drinks for the upstairs bar, but this was a very disappointing experience for a special night. I don't think I'll be back.
Very good food, but the atmosphere was lacking from what is an otherwise upscale restuarant. Loud to the point where it was distracting to a normal conversation. Was also surprised that restuarant was on the ground level and did not have a view.
We have lived here for 7 years and never tried this restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing. We will be back for sure. The waitress was very friendly and professional. For someone having been there a week. She knew her stuff. Thank you all for making our birthday dinner fantastic!
Food was exceptionally tasty. Restaurant is next to river near msny activities and historic charm. Restaurant is on liwer floor *1 on elevator. Chit chat is loud due to low ceilings but great decor. Our waitress Stephanie was attentive and accommodating. Rocks on Roof is great for city and bridge view on top floor deck.
