ROCK'N FISH - Manhattan Beach Ratings and Reviews
Celebrated our friends birthday, we drove up from San Diego to celebrate. The food was Amazing, the Apps; grilled artichoke and calamari were both delicious, to our dinners. I had the seared Ahi which was fabulous, two others had the Cioppino that was incredible and final dish was the grilled swordfish that was spot on! Drinks were very good but pricey. They let us bring a special dessert in for our friends (one has Celiac) took it and placed on platter with a candle for and delivered for our birthday celebration. They also brought a house creme brulee for the birthday boy. Overall outstanding and cant wait to go back next time we are in Manhattan beach.
We were celebrating my birthday. Everyone there wished me a happy birthday and I got a free dessert (although Jose, our waiter, said they won't let him sing to me). The salmon was cooked perfectly - it melted in you mouth! I substituted sides to get what I wanted and that was not a problem. Since the free dessert is not gluten-free (bread pudding and ice cream), I asked if we could have fresh fruit instead and that was not a problem, either. A perfect end to a great meal.
Informed establishment ahead of time that dinner would be to celebrate a special occasion. They remembered.
Although the hostess initially tried to seat us outside, we persisted and eventually were seated at a table for two upstairs overlooking the bar and diners on the first level. Great view and privacy because there was only one other table with patrons upstairs.
Our sever, Arracelli provided us with personalized attention, including modifying our orders and checking on us frequently without being annoying. Her attentiveness and personal charm were outstanding!
And to top off our great evening, the restaurant let us choose a free desert, which was delivered with a (edible) personal message written on the plate. Very nice touch.
This was my second visit, and I could not have been more pleased. I plan to go again very soon.
It was a lovely dining experience with old friends. They even phoned me to confirm the reservation. I requested a table on the patio, it was there waiting for our us. Great menu and super for people watching. It was definately worth the drive from the north valley!
Rock n' Fish is the place to be! From the great staff to the energetic atmosphere and not to mention Phenomenal Food! The drinks and Food go hand in hand with the great service. Definitely come here at least once a month. Great Patio too! It's perfect for all occasions! First Dates, Family gatherings or girls get togethers! Just make sure you give the hostess a heads up!
We were seated upstairs and finished our meals before we saw the waitress again. By then, our glasses had been empty for a while and we were really thirsty. We were only given one glass of water for a party of three. Food was good, but not good enough if you can’t wash it down with anything to drink.
We went to celebrate a friend's birthday. The food was very good and a nice variety. The service and very good and friendly. We were treated to a complimentary dessert......delicious. We plan to return and have already recommended it to friends. Even parking was not a challenge.
BBQ Shrimp and Fish tacos were our two entrees ... both excellent. I also had a nice kale and radish salad which was very tasty! You get plenty of food here. If you get one of the tables by the window, you get prime sunset viewing seating...assuming, you know, it's after the workday.
I was really disappointed that my fave crab louie salad is off the menu, they said because crab has become too expensive and they couldn't justify charging $38 for a salad. They still have their excellent blue cheese wedge on the menu at least. I had the halibut and it was overcooked. Something about this place has changed. The menu has been sharply curtailed and perhaps they have just kept the best-sellers. I've been coming here for years, but not sure I'd return.
Loved this restaurant. We were seated on the outdoor terrace on a fabulous warm sunny day with a cooling sea breeze, couldn’t be better. Creative menu, the crab fishcakes were the best we have tasted, and the menu was very unusual. All the food was perfectly cooked clearly using fresh seafood. Service just right, always there just when you wanted something. Great atmosphere at 3pm Sunday afternoon. Thoroughly recommend if you are in the Manhattan Beach area.
Wonderful and delicious as always! Our server was wonderful, the food amazing and great wine selection. I really appreciated that the hostess new I was chilled after a day in A/C and worked hard to get me a table in the warmest part of the restaurant. Such a nice touch.
I have had lunch here many times but went for dinner. The staff was friendly and helpful BUT the service was so rushed, the kitchen just churned out the food. We were still eating our appetizers when our entrees arrived. It must have been less than 10 minutes. We had our appetizers, cocktails and entrees on the crowded table all at the same time. Felt so rushed that really didn't enjoy the rest of the expensive meal. Skipped dessert as it was just not a relaxing Sunday evening out. I would go here for lunch again, but not dinner.
Hands down the best meal we had in the Los Angeles area including Long Beach and Los Angeles. The choice was last minute, but no regrets at all. We had a patio table waiting for us, but opted for bar seating instead - good idea!!! The cocktails were handcrafted and old school. Our bartender/server, Peter, knows his stuff. His menu recommendations, from the 10 oz filet mignon, gumbo, coconut shrimp, garlic spinach were spot on. The sourdough bread was fresh and hot out the oven and better than what we can ever find in San Francisco (where we're from). The wine list is extensive and well thought out. No complaints there. Finally, the desserts were someof the best we've had in years. Rock 'n Fish is definitely on GO BACK TO LIST for great restaurants. AWESOME!
You will not be disappointed! We ate here two nights in a row and tried different menu items. Over the two nights we had the Oak Grilled Artichoke, San Francisco Cioppino, Linguine Del Mar, Kapalua Rib Eye, Louisiana Style Swordfish, Rock'N Steamers, Kumiai Oysters, and Rock'N Crab Cakes. All winners! Come for dinner and watch the sun set over Manhattan Beach!
