ROCK'N FISH - Manhattan Beach Ratings and Reviews
We were very impressed with the service. The restaurant was a few minutes late seating us for our reservation. Though it was not long, and we were not unset they gave us free calamari as an apology. All of the food we had was excellent. My husband was especially happy with his jambalaya. We would go again though it was very loud for conversation.
Felt welcome from greeting at the front desk all the way through. Sat at the bar for a few minutes just for fun, had a great and engaging bartender. seated at the outdoor patio under ample heaters. Our server was right on with her recommendations and descriptions of the menu options. Highly recommend the N.O. Shrimp if you like spicy and the crusted fish if you don.t
I was a bit apprehensive that this would be too noisy, too young and too casual. It was some of those things but really a terrific and fun spot. Our food was delicious, try the salmon, and our waitress was outstanding. It was a warm Saturday night and we had a lovely window table. It was noisy but really it was fun and appropriate. I will definitely be back.
Be sure to get the green beans!
Rock'N Fish has been my "GO TO" for 10 years now. 100% of the time when I visited LA, I made it a point to visit Rock'N Fish, and most often I brought a group of people. I've brought no less than 50 people to this restaurant over the years who were all new to experience it. However, after the last 2 experiences we will look elsewhere next time we are in the area.
Our server was fantastic but as a party of 6, three people ordered steak. All 3 were overcooked and sent back. In the 30 times that I've been there, I've ordered New Orleans BBQ Shrimp 100% of the time. The last time I was there, the rice was not fully cooked. During this most recent visit the whole dish was just thrown together .. the shrimp were not standing or arranged around the perimeter as in all the years past. The presentation was very sloppy.
Something has happened to the food quality over the past year or two. It seems there is no attention to detail.
I've always enjoyed Rock'N Fish, but we will try someplace else next time. I was embarrassed this visit that 3 of my colleagues had to send their food back, and others were just average. I'll be back at some point, but it's time to take a break and experience some of the other nearby restaurants.
Started with the Navy Grog - my favorite - has a floater of dark brown rum on the top. We chose the special LA Restaurant Week Menu - two courses $20 - a great deal. The grilled artichoke was great and followed that with the Hibachi teriyaki beef and veggies on a stick, with sautéed spinach and jasmine rice. A great meal, especially for the price.
My husband and I came up to Manhattan Beach to visit our son and we ended up having lunch at Rock N Fish. It was Sunday at 1 pm and the restaurant was cranking! We had a reservation, several people were waiting for a table but they didn't seem to mind. Guests were coming and going the entire time we were there. Definitely a local crowd with families but plenty of tourists mixed in. We all three had the fish tacos with different sides. We all enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. The menu is unique with a variety of health options. My only negative was none of their salads were a "lettuce" based salad. I would definitely like to see that added. Other than that the atmosphere was fun and we will be back again!
The seating atmosphere was vibreant. The seating was roomy for a crowded restaurant. We were served promptly. Everyone really liked their dinner. The waitress was totally attentive and really friendly. The wine pours were generous and the wines by the glass were good. We are going again!
This was a pleasant dining experience, the seafood selection was decent, and the server nicely accommodated tweaks to the preparation that suited our needs. The calamari appetizer was a nice sized portion and the fish tacos were fresh and tasty. Staff were friendly. My only gripe was we visited during the holiday season and parking was a bear.
Came with family who was visiting from out of town. Everyone enjoyed the food and appreciated the kind, warm and overall exceptional service. Also can’t beat the amazing location right by the Manhattan Beach pier. We had a wonderful time and will definitely return.
I booked RockNFish for my boyfriend's birthday and we definitely enjoyed ourselves. Our server Alex was very vibrant, personable, & well-informed on the menu. We were seated upstairs above the bar and although there wasn't a view , it was still romantic. If I must suggest anything, I'd highly recommend the clam chowder and the petit lobster tails paired with the mac and asparagus. Oh and the bread pudding!!!
I was disappointed in our experience at this restaurant. There were 8 of us who'd travelled from across the country (IL, IA, GA,MN) for a work event. We hadn't seen each other in a long time and looked forward to spending some special time together outside of the work environment. Our food was ok - probably 3 out of 5 stars. What was really disappointing was our server and service. She seemed irritated by having been given our table. She was inattentive throughout, it was difficult to get a drink refill, she took forever to take our orders, etc. She just seemed irritated with us and as if we were wasting her time. I paid the over over $400 bill and left her 20% out of habit, so she got $70 for the little attention she gave us. I didn't let her know we were all out of town and had never eaten here before. I shouldn't have had to. Doubt I'll be back if I find myself back in Manhattan Beach.
What a great find. Had coconut shrimp which was great, but I wish I did not order them since the second course would have been enough. THE Lobster roll!!!! Incredible fresh and loaded with lobster, accompanied with home made potato chips and a side o your choice. Great chef!
This was our first time at RockNFish and the food and service were both outstanding. We will definitely be returning here in the very near future. They made our daughters birthday feel like a very special event and we were so pleased. Its not every day that you find a place that goes above and beyond to please its customers. Great place!
Celebrated our friends birthday, we drove up from San Diego to celebrate. The food was Amazing, the Apps; grilled artichoke and calamari were both delicious, to our dinners. I had the seared Ahi which was fabulous, two others had the Cioppino that was incredible and final dish was the grilled swordfish that was spot on! Drinks were very good but pricey. They let us bring a special dessert in for our friends (one has Celiac) took it and placed on platter with a candle for and delivered for our birthday celebration. They also brought a house creme brulee for the birthday boy. Overall outstanding and cant wait to go back next time we are in Manhattan beach.
