Rocker Oysterfellers
Full bar and picnic dining! Enjoy Tomales Bay Oysters, Clam Chowder, Stemple Creek Burgers, Buttermilk Fried Chicken, PoBoy's and more. Best food on the Sonoma Coast!
Our server was great, we all had burgers (a few even tried the meatless Impossible Burger!)
We had a great time and will be back.
We loved this restaurant. Local oysters, fabulous crab and excellent Old Fashioed from the bar.
Everything we had was delicious! Salad, Fried Chicken, beignets, smore dessert. Friend had the gumbo and clam chowder both of which were delicious as well. Small place so the noise got a little loud at times but not unbearable at all, and is expected when dining in closer quarters. Definitely going back!
Had the Restaurant Week dinner menu. Had an excellent meal, good portions with some leftover to bring home and enjoy the next day.
Friendly professional service, great cocktails.
Definitely will return!
Great food
Fun atmosphere! Tasty cocktails! Very good crab/artichoke cakes. Some of the best prepared salmon I’ve ever had. Clams were fantastic with possibly the best broth we’ve ever had. Well worth the stop in this beautiful rural location!
There were 6 of us at dinner. All of us agreed that the mignonette served with the raw oysters was unpleasant. The blackened shrimp entree and the fried chicken were both rated well. The chicken wings were drowning in salt and vinegar. Two of us had salads that were overdressed with vinaigrette. The person who had the risotto dumplings found the dish to be monotonous.
This is one of our favorite restaurants and never disappoints. We have noticed, however, that the Negroni pours have been getting smaller. Would be nice if that trend were reversed.
2nd time at Rocker and love it! We are from Tucson, so this place along with Bodega Bay Golf course and Fisherman covers brings us back every year.
The food was very good! I had the seasonal crab dish. I would recommend sharing with a friend if you get this, as it is a whole crab. The seasoning was fantastic! This is a great little location, off the beaten path. It was a nice atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. We will visit again soon!
The dinner was very good however they should put cushions on the hard wood seats! Excellent Margarita!
Fish tacos—yumm!
3 types of oysters—fantastic!!
Chicken and waffle—excellent!!
Five in our party and we were all very pleased with our Sunday brunch there. We were sorry we’d waited so long to try it. Will definitely return!
My wife and I, our first time at RO. We both had clam chowder (potato based), she had two fried slightly battered oysters, I had a hamburger with fries, she had fish tacos, and we split a side of mac and cheese. We agreed that the chowder was very good, replete with numerous clams still in their shells, and my hamburger was very good. The fries were a thin version, not my favorite because they tend to taste dry as did these though not unpalatable. She rated her fish tacos average. We had heard a lot about the mac and cheese but were both a little disappointed. While it was not short on cheese, we both would have preferred a slightly less pasty consistency in favor of something with a little more liquid, e.g. half and half or cream mixed in. Wife had one glass of decent house wine. The service was timely, accurate and pleasant. Unfortunately, the noise level was excessive. For some reason some people (male and female alike) feel compelled to share their large piercing voices with an entire room which makes it nearly impossible to have a conversation across the same small table. Get several of them together and it really sounds like a batch of noisy seagulls fighting over scraps of dead fish. RO would do well to post a sign reminding the grown children that they share space with others and should keep their voices down to a dull roar. That aside, we thought RO worthy as a stop on the way to or from the coast. We paid roughly $95 plus tip. About triple the at home price of the same dinner, but par for the course when dining out.
Though we have visited the Bodega Bay Area many times, we somehow missed the Valley Ford Hotel and Rocker Oysterfeller’s. We did however remember seeing a Check Please Bay Area episode where the reviewers raved about the food. We chose to come for brunch on a Sunday. We were a little surprised at how few patrons there were when we arrived, though it was half filled by the time we left. The restaurant décor is best described as old west with faux colonial chairs, basic pine tables and planked flooring. We were seated in a corner near a cupboard, which fit the vibe well.
We started with Hangtown Fry deviled farm eggs with bacon and fried oysters for the table. There were four on the plate which was just enough for our party – and they were delicious topped with the oysters. While the others waited for their entrees I sampled the the Rocker Oysterfeller with arugula, bacon, cream cheese, a cornbread crust. It was tasty but didn’t knock my socks off, especially for $3.75 for one. But things would get better. Two in our party ordered the Beer Battered Fish Tacos with spicy remoulade, and apple-fennel slaw, while I ordered the Benedict Dungeness Crab & Artichoke Cakes with braised greens, bacon, hollandaise, and potato hash. Of the many Benedict iterations I’ve had over the years, this was one of the better – and larger – ones. The eggs were poached nicely and melded well with the cakes. The hash was tasty and just large enough. Everyone who sampled the tacos were very happy with them. The fish was substantial and nicely crisped. We finished our meal with a dozen or so beignets with raspberry dip and Irish coffee. Service was excellent with one small glitch. Although the web site clearly lists the corkage as $10 for Sonoma wines, we were charged $15. Our server was unaware of this little perk, but to her credit, she revised the bill to reflect the local discount.
$1 oysters on Thursday’s!
This. Place. Is. Outstanding! From the warm, straight-from-the-oven corn muffins to the crab cakes, beet salad (one of the best I've had), little gem salad, pan roasted salmon (incredible!) NY steak (good, but a little tough) and ending with Beignets. What a meal...all brought to us by the lovely and ever-so-efficient Aurora B. and her colleagues.
The food and service is always excellent at Rocker Oysterfellers. We don't make it out there often, but when we do, we end up ordering almost the entire menu because we don't want to miss anything.
Had a great brunch at the bar. All of food was amazing. Drinks were delicious and service was excellent. Highly recommend.
We ate here 5 years ago so we were excited to go back for a special occasion. It's a small place and very out of the way, but that's part of the charm. There was a large party there that was pretty loud - to be expected as this is the holiday season and they were probably having a holiday party. Given that it's so small, their noise made it hard for us to have a conversation, but that happens some times so not a big deal. The restaurant did seem understaffed given that they had such a large party. Service was very slow, but the food was delicious. We both had several different oysters, which were all outstanding. Our favorite was the Louisiana Hot. We also had the New York strip steak which was good. The wait staff kindly substituted vegetables for the potatoes on my entree. All in all, the ambience could've been a little better - it seemed a bit shabbier than our last trip. Service could've been faster. Food was good, oysters were excellent. They did have a really nice wine selection. I would go back again just for oysters and wine.
Had great service and food! Will be back!!
Really like the Valley Ford country locals vibe. Service very good, fried chicken amazingly tender. Sauce for the raw oysters wonderful, need the recipe. Not a typical Mignonette. A+. Well worth the trip from faraway Santa Rosa. Will return, want to to try the Mexican Monday/Tuesday!
This is a great place for a lovely night out. The service and the food was geat. Great clam chowder, fries and a classic New York steak. The only down side was the din in the dining room was overwhelming. I would still plan on a return trip in the future.
Amazing place. Freshness, quality and service beyond expectations. Love it and will be back.
We had a great time here! The food is delicious, gumbo, shrimp and grits, salmon with jambalaya. We were too full to have dessert! Taylor was so sweet and gave us excellent service. We will be back.
Great dining experience overall. The ambiance was welcoming, while the oysters, clams, and fish tacos were all excellent.
We went when they opened. Small quiet place with excellent food and service. Fish tacos and shrimp and grits is what we ordered, very delicious.
Best margaritas and fish tacos ever! Well worth the drive.
Monday’s and Tuesday’s have a good Mexican menu (that we enjoyed very much) but also had oysters available. Other nights are the regular oysters and seafood menu. Attentive and helpful servers, but the kitchen was a tad slow. Surprising value — don’t let the outside appearance dissuade you.
We love this place. Great fun and casual vibe. Delicious food. Service is always as good as the food. Definitely worth the trip to the coast!
Celebrating our friend’s birthday! Luckily, she loved it! However, it got so loud, we could hardly hear our own conversation! The food had a Louisiana flavor and was peppery and spicy. Not to my taste! Oysters were great!
We were a party of 4 for Sunday brunch. First party in the restaurant. Even after the restaurant filled up, it was quiet, the service fast, etc. It's our third time there, and we'll definitely return.
Great food and service. Well worth the drive. But this is not a restaurant you can come to if you have any hearing problems. The noise level is very loud; I could barely hear my companion across the small table.
Overall excellent experience. The food was delicious and there was something for everyone. Friendly, efficient service.
Pros:
- nice ambience
- oyster special (that day) for 1$ per raw oyster
- cocktail was good
Cons:
- Portions are on the smaller side (salmon)
- Fries were cold, combination of food weird and not really tasty: salmon came with spicy rice containing sausage ?! Killed the fish. Tomate salad came with sesame dressing - did not match
- Waiting times a little long
Altogether ok, maybe for an oyster and a cocktail, nur not for dinner.
My wife and I had dinner at Rocker Oysterfellers twice while staying in Occidental. It is only 15 minutes away, but well worth the drive. The first time we were there on. Thursday night and to our delight we learned that they do $1 raw oysters on Thursday nights. So we ordered two dozens as an appetizer. My wife then had the gumbo and I had the salmon. Both dishes were wonderful. They have a good wine list and we really enjoyed our bottle of Pinot Grigio.
Taylor was our server and she was just delightful. She was on top of everything and very friendly. She was also supported by others. It was a real team effort to make our evening memorable.
Since we liked it so much we decided to return the next day. Taylor was our server again and she was great again. The second night we had the calamari, the salmon and the pork chop. Everything was wonderful.
We are certain that that we will return when in that area again.
Fantastic food & service. Great wine selection!
We loved the food options and the warm family-friendly atmosphere!
Had a simply splendid dinner here on Labor Day weekend. Fried okra, deviled eggs, tomato salad, arugula salad, pork chops, and meatloaf. Everything was excellent. I've eaten here 4 or 5 times before and the food was always good. This time they outdid themselves. My only complaint is that I ate too much.
Things seemed to lack coordination. Meal prep took unusually long coupled will errors in the orders. The oysters and the fish tacos were brilliant but the wedge salad was warm and a bit dry as though it had been sitting our too long waiting to be served (most disappointing)
Great experience!!
Food was amazing, server was very attentive and the food was delicious.
Fun bar to have a few pops and a bite.
