RockBass Grill Ratings and Reviews
This is one of my favorite restaurants. Have never had a bad meal. I usually always get fish but decided to try the filet this time and wasn't disappointed at all. Had sauteed mushrooms with it. It practically melted in your mouth and was cooked perfectly. I will definitely have it again. The baked potato was so big I asked the waitress to bring me a box before I even started eating and cut it in half. Can't wait to go again.
We had a reservation, were seated and after about 10 min , no waitress yet, another couple was seated behind us, and another 5 min went by, no sign of a waitress to even take our drink order, finally a waitress appears only to serve the couple behind us first!! She then comes to our table and tells us “sorry, the bartender was to be your waitress but she said she’s too busy”!!!!! You would think that if you have a reservation that the restaurant would make sure there is coverage at said table!! And they weren’t even busy!! It took a good 45 min to get our food and it was luke warm and sub-par!! We didn’t even finish our meals!! Almost two hours later and a bill of $78.00 ,$93.00 with tip because it wasn’t our waitresses fault, we were left feeling completely ripped off and will never go back! This was our first and last time dining at Rock Bass. So disappointing.
The rating was split between my husband and I. I had the stuffed flounder, sweet potato casserole and cucumber salad. Everything was delicious! However, my husband had some kind of steak (not sure what it was), cucumber salad and roasted red potatoes(?). He complained to me that the steak was very tough and grissley. He also said that it appeared as if the potatoes he was served were not red potatoes. For the price he paid for his meal he was not happy. I know he has eaten better steaks at lesser priced steak houses. As for the potatoes, I cannot say. To me they did not look like red potatoes either. As for my meal I was very pleased. Neither one had dessert as we were quite stuffed from all the food we had already eaten.
Never had a bad meal here. Portion sizes are large, so come hungry or commit to a take-out box. Seafood is always fresh and they have the best brunch in town (sticky buns are AMAZING!). Service is good, but waited 10 mins till someone came to take our drink order.
My husband and I went to the RockBass Grill 2 nights after we got married for a nice dinner. We were not disappointed. Our waitress was so sweet and made sure our night was special. We did reservations (which were extremely easy to make online), and even though it wasn’t a busy night, they had everything ready for us. The food was delicious and I would definitely come back again. Thank you for a memorable evening with my new husband.
the server "Karen" i believe was very upbeat. the food however is oversized and overpriced, especially the salads...not sure WHO can eat an entire bag of lettuce in one meal.
the food does not taste or look like it was fresh made versus frozen and boiled in a bag.
we had a few small special requests like put items on the side, toast the muffin etc and none were observed by the kitchen staff.
also we were sat at a booth and frankly the table is so large that when you have to climb up a step to get in and the oversized table only leave a few inches to squeeze in, its tricky
My girlfriend and I took my Mom to dinner at Rock Bass. The atmosphere was warm, cozy, quiet and very appealing. Our waitress (cannot recall her name at the moment) was fantastic. She checked on us regularly without being overbearing, she was personable, very friendly and very knowledgable about the menu, specials, etc. The food was absolutely phenomenal and was more than worth the price. I would gladly go back to Rock Bass grill and would recommend it to anyone for any occasion. You will NOT be disappointed.
Very disappointed. We ordered water and soda to start looking over the menu. The waitress came back to take our dinner order. She could not recommend anything. And I was sitting by the window almost like I wasn't there. I wanted to order a drink, but she left before I was finished giving my order. She didn't return for 45 minutes. The kitchen brought out our appetizers and salad. All my meal was over cooked to the point it was inedible. My friend ordered a steak well - no pink - and she couldn't even cut it with a steak knife it was so hard! No gluten-free menu so I got a salad and the shrimp and chicken were so over cooked I couldn't chew it. I was given the same amount of dressing as my friend who got a side salad. It was dry. Horrible. She came back to ask about the meal and when I went to order a drink and say something about the food, she walked away. Terrible service. Then the people in my party ordered desert. I did as well. She never brought my desert. It was another 45 minutes before we saw her again. I never got my desert, so she took their desert cost off the bill. She didn't take anything off my bill. A very bad dining experience and it was very expensive. We used to come here twice a month. Now it is down to once a year. I won't be back. I get a better salad and gluten-free food at Arooga's Bar and Grill. This was terrible. Three hours to eat dinner, really?
SPECIAL THANK YOU TO EXECUTIVE CHEF ANDREW DEZ WHO PERSONALLY CALLED TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE MISCOMMUNICATION ON NEW YEAR'S EVE. WE APPRECIATED THE CALL AND HAVE ACCEPTED HIS INVITATION TO RETURN. KUDOS FOR CUSTOMER APPRECIATION!
I had a difficult time rating our dining experience because the problem came after our meal was finished. We've been going to the Rock Bass Grill on New Year's Eve for the past seven years; not only for the food, but also to watch the fireworks display at midnight. Some years they provided hats, noise makers, etc. for their patrons and always champagne to ring in the new year. When I made the reservations, I commented that we wanted a booth at the window to watch the fireworks at midnight. After the meal, we could tell that the waitress was trying to rush us out and I told her we were going to stay for the midnight celebration. At that point, she politely informed us that she was supposed to leave 11:30 and there would be no celebration or champagne this year. Needless to say, we were very disappointed and I wish someone would have notified me of it when I made the reservation and commented we were staying for the fireworks -- we would have made other plans. We will not be back on New Years Eve again.
Was my first time for dinner and it was a nice experience in most all areas. A couple of minor things I wasn’t pleased with, but our server Scott was outstanding!! Really made the problems go away with his great service.
So the good...
-Was able to get table and sit at bar for a few moments waiting for others to arrive
-Food was good and the fresh seafood selection is very good
The bad, no so bad...
-A few hosts/hostesses seemed bothered at our arrival (one of them was outstanding, but everyone else’s demeanor around the host counter seemed very down and non-engaging for such a nice restaurant). That gets a person that hasn’t been at the restaurant previously a little concerned.
-I went to sit at the bar and the service was horrible. I sat there and watched two bartenders look at me multiple times while doing their “small work” that could’ve been done anytime. I actually thought maybe they were busboys until one asked me after 10 mins “can I get you something”. Totally not warm. As a person with an ethnic background (who tips VERY well), this was quite disheartening. Connected, honestly don’t know but hard not to feel that way as everyone else was doted over.
-Food wise: ordered mahi Mahi blackened when it Came to the table, it was slightly over cooked. But not terrible. Taste was good.
1. Do a little service training for host crew and bartenders. Perhaps a little diversity training would help.
2. A better “vegetable” selection on the side order list. My friends and I all had comments about how there were no vegetables to select from on the sides menu. To be a restaurant high on seafood, need for veggie selections.
Very nice restaurant and a very good place to find seafood in the Harrisburg area. For the price it was ok. overall, I enjoyed my time there and if he is still there, request Scott as your server.
I enjoy the food at Rock Bass but the service sucks. I always have to find someone to refill our drinks. Then they bring the food and never come back. Much better service next door at Willie's. Maybe you can get some of those servers to train the ones at Rock Bass.
I really enjoy this place for business lunches. We will definitely come back, but two of the 4 meals this time was sub-par... the Jambalaya was very salty, and the grilled chicken sandwich either very rubbery or undercooked, either way the guest did not finish the meal. I normally arrange these business lunches for around 12:00, but this time we arrived for a pretty late (after 1:30), so maybe stick to earlier lunch times to ensure the food is fresh.
Food was good but service very slow. Large group slowed kitchen and our server couldn't keep up with her large number of tables. No coffee or dessert offered. Didn't check back in on us after food was served to see how we were doing.
I would return but not on a weekend.
