RockBass Grill Ratings and Reviews
Everything was great from the food to the service by our waitress Mrs Kathy to the making reservations down to the flowers that were delivered to having them placed on the table at the right moment surprising my wife the whole night was Beautiful thank you all so very much.
We took our neighbors who are fairly new to the area. We all ordered something g different and all of it was excellent and in abundance. Our server was a young lady who was very attentive and answered our questions and gave suggestions. View of the Susquehanna River was spectacular - I recommend for any occasion
We had a table with a lovely view. That was the only thing we liked. I ordered three Blue Point oysters from the raw menu. I eat raw oysters frequently and love them without condiments for their briney sea taste. These had no briney sea taste. It really seemed the the liquor that the oysters are naturally bathed in had been lost in the shucking process. You will not notice this if you use condiments, but I was very disappointed. I then ordered the oysters with crab on top. They were to come with Gouda cheese on top of all of that, but Indon't like my seafood messed with too much, so I had them hold the cheese. This is how I knew that there was absolutely no crab on top of the oysters, and I mean NO crab. There was a lot of mayonnaise on top that seemed to be the binder for their crab cakes. But again: no crab. We are beer drinkers, my husband in particular. He asked for a taste of an unfamiliar beer and the waiter said that they do not do that. My husband insisted and they did acquiesce. This is more of a bourbon and whiskey place, so if you like that, you should be fine. And lastly, the fried oysters my husband ordered were over-fried like old shoes, not still juicy inside like they should be. This place is not for real seafood or beer lovers. And we had to fork over $70 for a very mediocre meal. The Italian wedding soup was very good, except it wasn't Italian wedding soup. There were no bitter greens and in no way resembled my Italian mother-in-law's Italian wedding soup, except that there were a few small meatballs in it. Still, if it had been billed as meatball vegetable soup, I would have been even happier to eat it. All in all, if you want a great view, like seafood to taste unlike its true self, do not want to drink a good beer, and don't care about expense, then this restaurant is for you.
My girlfriend and I went around 5:00 Saturday afternoon for dinner. The restaurant had a peaceful atmosphere, and though the deck was closed due to a drizzly rain, the view of the river from inside was still fantastic. The food was very good too. The restaurant wasn't as formal and the food wasn't as pricey as I thought it would be, but I was okay with this. It's a very nice low-end fine dining experience.
We have been here several times before and enjoy Rockbass Grill. Like the atmosphere and have enjoyed the salmon salad, clam chowder, oysters and fish dinners. I ordered Mahi fish tacos. There was not much filling in the two tacos and it certainly did not taste or look anything like Mahi. There were bits of shredded fish in the tacos that was rather chewey. The fish looked more like salmon and was awful. I did not say anything at the time because we were with friends and I did not want to complain. Maybe this is not the norm, but these were the worst fish tacos I ever ordered. It will be a while before we return to Rockbass Grill.
We had a very nice table overlooking the river.
I ordered scallops ($29). I asked for them to be broiled. They came out the same color and texture of scallops that are raw and they were not hot. I told the waiter that they were not cooked and asked if they could pan fry them. He took them back and came back with them about 5 minutes later. They had the texture of cooked scallops but still were not hot.
The waiter offered me a "free" dessert to make up for my bad experience. Since I am dieting, a dessert was not a possibility. I did notice that my glass of wine was $2 less than the menu had quoted.
All in all, I will not go back to this restaurant.
Been many times, but this time the back table had cold air pouring on them. Initially staff was unwilling to relocate (I think he wanted the table) until my wife sought assistant from one of the greeters who found us a warmer table by the windows. Usually a dependable service, great view, and a source of fish in Central PA.
Good was good. Had to ask for 2 sides that were forgotten. Steaks that were ordered were good but weren't what was ordered, as in temp. Ordered medium rare and received medium well. Overall were happy. Ordered flowers and they were on the table when we were seated.
Food was tasteless & cold. Mediocre for the price. Worst birthday dinner experience. Seated at window near bar. Noise level was extremely high; loudest crowd of geriatrics seated all around the bar. Not at all enjoyable. Couldn't hear each other speak. The most bland meal I've ever had. I gave the food one star only because I had to otherwise the review would not submit. Totally disappointing.
The ambiance was very mellowing, and peaceful along the river. Just breathe taking during a sunset! Highly recommend!
The Calamari was a hit and the marinara sauce was over the top. The portion sizes for the entrees was excellent. I opted for a Salad as an entree with Salmon. Superb! Our waitress took great care of us!!
we were seated promptly. I made reservations ahead of time. we had a great waitress. Service was fast and our waitress was very attentive. Our dinners arrived in good time. The portions and quality were great. we had a very enjoyable time. This is the third time we have brought friends here. Once again, no one was disappointed.
Table was ready when we arrived. Hostess was very pleasant. Waiter was pleasant, professional and attentive. Food was well prepared to order. Wine list was properly sized and had a nice variety. Price versus value was in line with expectations. Nicely done.
First timers last nite, and we will DEFINITLEY return, most likely frequently. Staff were very pleasant and able, the band Soul House was fantastic, perfect for the atmosphere, upbeat and casual. My husband's Bangin' Shrimp appetizer was plentiful and delicious, his burger was big and cooked just right. My ahi tuna appetizer was the best I was ever served anywhere, and my salmon salad...plentiful and perfect....actually after the generous sized appetizer I took the entire salad home! To mention a couple plates those with us had...the chicken tenders were meaty and breaded just right, a NIG plate full, and the crab pretzel was incredible-probably a foot long and FILLED, not topped, with heaping crab dip, baked to a golden brown. The beer was filled in nice tall beer bugs. They have tables but I liked the roomy booths, all 6 of us sat comfortably. The music level did not drown out our conversations. They dimmed the lights later in the evening, making for a relaxed atmosphere. What didn't I care for? My Bloody Mary wasn't tomatoy or dense enough, although I appreciated they used a fresh crisp celery stalk, unlike when other bars use obvious "leftover" celery. The cost is a bit spendy, however the portion sizes and presentation is worthy of them. Very pleased!
