Rockafeller's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Owner greeting was nice. Cornbread appetizer was ok. Wait staff were nice. Oysters Rockefeller was best thing of the whole dinner experience but most of the oysters were not attached to the shells. ??Nothing else looked or tasted fresh. Great potential. Very Disappointing.
This is my 4th visit in the last 3 years. Each time I noticed that the service is going down hill the quality of the food has declined. It's all hype. Food was cold. Portion size on the decline
Over priced. Will not be back. I have blasted it on social media. My anniversary was completely ruined. That was the last time they will take my money.
We went to Rockafeller's on Dec 23rd for a nice casual diner. As usual, service was prompt and efficient. Understandably, they were running out of a couple items as they were closed on both Dec 24 and 25th. No problem. Upon entering, I saw 2 plates with beautifully prepared fried flounder so I had to have it. Great dinner! My wife's combo crab cake/ fried oyster dinner was also very good, although the oysters were slightly gritty. It's not prime season for oysters. Our she crab soup and Caesar salad were both excellent. We love this place, especially during the off season when we don't have to fight the tourists.
Needed a reservation for family in town the weekend after Thanksgiving. They were able to accommodate a larger group on a busy night. Food and service were very good. Restaurant did get a bit loud when it got busy, but atmosphere was similar to many other seafood restaurants in the area.
I have been to this restaurant a couple of years ago and it was much better then. Now the food came out slow the out of 6 oysters Rockafeller two were burned. This is not thre same as it was before. I need to find a new seafood restaurant when I go to Virgina Beach.
We have been coming to Virginia Beach the last week of June for 42 years, and frankly stopped coming to this restaurant as they did not take reservations. We love the restaurant and are thrilled they now take reservations; at least they do for Thanksgiving week. We enjoyed it so much, we met friends again here later in the same week to enjoy the seafood and the view.
i ordered french toast. there was a few large parties so it took a while to get our food. no problem but when the french toast came it was bread that was deep fried. I cold piece of greasy bread. i sent it back and ask to be redone and it came back hot, greasy and raw in the middle. I sent it all back and ask for a english muffin. they had the nerve after a hour to try and get the order right from when I got there to CHARGE me for the muffin. never again
This has been one our favorite places since we discovered it years ago. You're warmly greeted by a hostess who guides you to your requested seats.
Warm homemade bread with seasoned olive oil awaits.
Our favorite app aptly named Oysters Rockafellas was delicious, as always.
Mrs J got the crab stuffed flounder and I had the scallops which were delicious;as well as two sides of fresh green beans and mashed potatoes. We split a delicious key lime pie. There was so much food we took half home and had another meal the next day.
I highly recommend this place. Also, it is friendly as well as family owned and we like to support local people
We are here honeymooning and I have some friends in the area that we met for dinner here. We enjoyed our meal so much we came back two nights later and had a different meal. Everything was fresh and excellent. The crab and shrimp hush puppies are a must as are the bacon wrapped bbq shrimp as appetizers. Fish was fresh and prepared perfectly and the she crab soup was the best I had ever had. Our servers both nights were knowledgeable and very attenttive.
Unfortunately this was our first time eating here and we had a mediocre experience at best. It was during the Neptune Festival so will keep that in mind and give them one more change to do a good job. We sat at the bar because when we got there for our Reservation time they told us that it would still be 30 - 40 minutes to get seated. We ordered our meals that we promptly got 30 - 40 minutes after we ordered. The bartender told us that it was because it took a long time for the Steamer platters to get everything done. Both steam platters were so Over done that the Steamed Oysters were unrecognizable. As soon as we complained, the bartender took them off the bill so we were not charged.
We were ten minutes late for our reservation for six but we called and let them know and were told there was no problem. When we got there parking and traffic was horrendous. Luckily they have valet parking but even that was a challenge when we arrived. We were told there was be a delay in seating us.....never mentioned when we called.....which ended up being 1 1/2 hour. Then it took another hour to serve us our meal. Our waiter was very attentive and even offered us salads while we waited. We had no idea we had a hour wait ahead since we were told that our food should be right up. Once the food reached us it was lukewarm and the tuna one person ordered was definitely overdone. We were told there was a large party upstairs and that was causing the delay but a restaurant of this size should be used to large groups......and this was off season! Our experience was so bad that the manager deducted $75 from our total bill and I'm not sure any of us will return.
My husband and I vacationed in Virginia Beach for our 1st Anniversary. For our last night we wanted good seafood at a restaurant with good ambiance. I researched for a while and read all great reviews on this place. We were excited when we got there, the view was pretty and with all the people we thought for sure we wouldn't be let down. We were wrong. It stared off alright. We ordered the crab dip for an appetizer, which we did enjoy. Our meal however was probably the worst seafood we've ever had. My husband had the special which was stuffed flounder. The fish was so dry he could barely eat it. He compared it to sawdust. I had the trio and again the shrimp, scallops, and crab cake were so over cooked and chewy. The crab cake didn't taste like crab but just filler. The seasonal vegetables were enjoyable which was what we ate because the seafood was so bad. Once our meal was served we did not see our waitress for the rest of our house dinner. She didn't check on us or refill my water at any point. Another worker cleared our plates and brought us our check. Needless to say we were sadly disappointed and left still very hungry.
