Rockafeller's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
i ordered french toast. there was a few large parties so it took a while to get our food. no problem but when the french toast came it was bread that was deep fried. I cold piece of greasy bread. i sent it back and ask to be redone and it came back hot, greasy and raw in the middle. I sent it all back and ask for a english muffin. they had the nerve after a hour to try and get the order right from when I got there to CHARGE me for the muffin. never again
This has been one our favorite places since we discovered it years ago. You're warmly greeted by a hostess who guides you to your requested seats.
Warm homemade bread with seasoned olive oil awaits.
Our favorite app aptly named Oysters Rockafellas was delicious, as always.
Mrs J got the crab stuffed flounder and I had the scallops which were delicious;as well as two sides of fresh green beans and mashed potatoes. We split a delicious key lime pie. There was so much food we took half home and had another meal the next day.
I highly recommend this place. Also, it is friendly as well as family owned and we like to support local people
We are here honeymooning and I have some friends in the area that we met for dinner here. We enjoyed our meal so much we came back two nights later and had a different meal. Everything was fresh and excellent. The crab and shrimp hush puppies are a must as are the bacon wrapped bbq shrimp as appetizers. Fish was fresh and prepared perfectly and the she crab soup was the best I had ever had. Our servers both nights were knowledgeable and very attenttive.
Unfortunately this was our first time eating here and we had a mediocre experience at best. It was during the Neptune Festival so will keep that in mind and give them one more change to do a good job. We sat at the bar because when we got there for our Reservation time they told us that it would still be 30 - 40 minutes to get seated. We ordered our meals that we promptly got 30 - 40 minutes after we ordered. The bartender told us that it was because it took a long time for the Steamer platters to get everything done. Both steam platters were so Over done that the Steamed Oysters were unrecognizable. As soon as we complained, the bartender took them off the bill so we were not charged.
We were ten minutes late for our reservation for six but we called and let them know and were told there was no problem. When we got there parking and traffic was horrendous. Luckily they have valet parking but even that was a challenge when we arrived. We were told there was be a delay in seating us.....never mentioned when we called.....which ended up being 1 1/2 hour. Then it took another hour to serve us our meal. Our waiter was very attentive and even offered us salads while we waited. We had no idea we had a hour wait ahead since we were told that our food should be right up. Once the food reached us it was lukewarm and the tuna one person ordered was definitely overdone. We were told there was a large party upstairs and that was causing the delay but a restaurant of this size should be used to large groups......and this was off season! Our experience was so bad that the manager deducted $75 from our total bill and I'm not sure any of us will return.
My husband and I vacationed in Virginia Beach for our 1st Anniversary. For our last night we wanted good seafood at a restaurant with good ambiance. I researched for a while and read all great reviews on this place. We were excited when we got there, the view was pretty and with all the people we thought for sure we wouldn't be let down. We were wrong. It stared off alright. We ordered the crab dip for an appetizer, which we did enjoy. Our meal however was probably the worst seafood we've ever had. My husband had the special which was stuffed flounder. The fish was so dry he could barely eat it. He compared it to sawdust. I had the trio and again the shrimp, scallops, and crab cake were so over cooked and chewy. The crab cake didn't taste like crab but just filler. The seasonal vegetables were enjoyable which was what we ate because the seafood was so bad. Once our meal was served we did not see our waitress for the rest of our house dinner. She didn't check on us or refill my water at any point. Another worker cleared our plates and brought us our check. Needless to say we were sadly disappointed and left still very hungry.
In va beach on vacation with friends. First sat in cramped booth with no view. Moved to another booth with view but it was too tight for 4 adults. Finally got table for 4 by window. Got attitude from server Andrew p about ordering prime rib end cuts. Food timing rushed between appetizer and entree. Entrees came out cold. Cold meat. Cold mashed. Cold beans. Bread never served. Seared rare tuna on salad cold on outside. 1 prime way over cooked. Had to get up and go ask hostess for our own to-go bag for remainder of bottle of wine and got a plastic grocery store bag handed to us. Asked to speak to manager who ignored us. After speaking to hostess server Andrew followed us out and apologized. All in all this restaurant is in a high traffic resort area and just cares about 'getting them in and out'. Priced as a high end restaurant with very low quality food, poor management and sub-par service. Stay away and spend your money elsewhere! So disappointed!
My family drove down from Delaware to meet cousins vacationing in VA Beach. This was our first time to Rockafeller's and it was the best experience. Our service was exceptional, Lauren B, he was amazing and didn't hurry our dining. We loved he hush puppies and cornbread, both were delicious as was all of our entrees I would highly recommend for a nice evening out. We will definitely return again for the great food and the hometown atmosphere.
Loved the shrimp hush puppies and salmon dinner special. Seemed to be an early bird crowd. We arrived at 8 and we're last ones out. Would love outdoor seating. Wasn't aware if any downstairs. Overall. Very nice dinner like the booth and Carolyn waitress. Very sweet.
I visited Rockafellers while vacationing at Virginia Beach. The food was amazing (recommend Bbq shrimp wrapped in bacon and the crab/shrimp hush puppies). The waitress was attentive and very friendly. One of the best dining experiences ever!!!!! Can't wait to go back!!!!!!!!
I made a reservation for 11 for a bachelorette party. They were able to handle it same day, were accommodating and understanding when we were 30 minutes late, and only one server was able to handle our group with ease! We were very impressed with the menu--I'm local and thought it would be a standard beach tourist spot, but the out of towners who wanted seafood were very pleased. We ordered drinks and appetizers and then ordered meals. The appetizers came out as soon as we finished ordering, and our meals came out with perfect timing. Favorites of the group were the Waterman's Trio and the Crabcake/BBQ shrimp combo. I'll definitely be back with family or other visitors!
