We heard they will be closing at the end of the year - and we are very sorry to learn that. We go there before shows at the 5th.
We love Rock Bottom but are truly disappointe it is closing, it is in a great location..
Thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The cartot cake is a must! We were sorry to read they are closing their doors the first of the year. Would have gone back.
Our experience was awful. Waiter was so inexperienced. 1/3 of our food came after 20 minutes, another 1/3 came 25 minutes later, then the last 1/3 came 15 minutes after that. Waiter blamed the kitchen, but never checked on us for 20 minutes after the first 1/3 came. Would never go back. Heard it is closing, I see why.
Service was good, food was good, but drinks pricing way too high! $15 for a skinny margarita.
I found dunner at Rock Bottom Brewery to be pretty disappointing.
The food was "okay" at best, but the service was exceptionally poor. Our waitress would actually routinely interrupt us when we asked for something, and then either not return or return without what we asked for.
Given the price of the food, I strongly believe that I could get a much more pleasant dining experience (better food, better service) at a nearby restaurant.
After dining at Rock Bottom Brewery, I decided to check out reviews much more carefully before dining again at an "unknown" restaurant.
Good food as always
We went before going to the Fifth Ave to see The Little Mermaid. We chose it for the convenience and the price point. The reviews I read were not very impressive and I hadn't been there in a long time. We order quick (we were a bit late) and the service was great, food was really good and we had plenty of time to get to the theater and not feel rushed! We were able to enjoy a couple of drinks and have good conversation.
Well, this location is right across from the theatre for the play we went and saw. The service is always spotty. Or server the other night was a bit aloof, but managed to get the order in and got drinks to us in a timely manner. You need to not plan on getting in and getting out quick here...we allowed 2+ hours and weren't rushed, but didn't have alot of time to waste either. It's the closest place for the theatre and is really why we choose it. Overall, I'd say just average, but no glaring issues either.
Went for a date and found it difficult to have a conversation over the din. Parking was brutal. The food was passable but overpriced. The service was horrid and impossible to get their attention. They shortchanged me in the bill after making us wait almost 20 minutes to take the payment then would not be bothered to come by to discuss. One and only time I will waste my time there.
We were celebrating with a work colleague - total in the group was 8. Our server was nice and accurate in taking our orders. We arrived at 12:30pm so it was just after the start of lunch rush which I believe contributed to the quicker service for a large party. Our server also was kind enough to provide us with separate checks for everyone in attendance which made it much easier for us. Overall, I recommend dining here for lunch or with a group.
The 5th Avenue Theatre is also right across the street which makes it a great location if you are looking for dinner before attending a show.
Went there with a couple friends and shared a beer sampler. It was pretty good!
Enjoyed our pub type meal. Great service and friendly staff. Food was above average pub food. Beer selection was excellent. OveralI we were impressed.
Love the location and the menu choices. It's a new menu since I'd been there last and it was great!
Two members of our party ordered Baja chicken which is supposed to be served with avocado. Only after our order was taken did the waitress tell us they had no avocado. She made no adjustment, either alternative toppings or a reduction in the price, for the absence of a main ingredient. This was misleading. The waitress handled this badly.
This is used to be a good pub but our latest visit was a comedy of errors - the beer was flat (gone bad), the order delivered was not what we ordered, the service was slow, the dining room was overrun by large parties.
This is meant to be a pub and a good pub is measured by good beer and friendly service. Add good food and it can be an awesome place. Instead here you have beer gone bad, servers who seem very inexperienced and a kitchen that matches the beer and the servers. Shame because this used to be a very good place to have happy hour with colleagues and the Denver and Minneapolis locations are also quite good.
We've been there many times. Food is good, selection is perfect for lots of folks and it is very convenient to the 5th Ave Theater.
A couple in our group were disappointed with the menu changes...no salmon and no pulled pork. I ordered the fish and chips and was disappointed in the fish change...small fish sticks?
We love coming to the Rock Bottom Brewery before the play at the 5th Ave Theatre. It's right across the street, and very convenient!
They did not honor our reservation because they were 'too busy'. So, my wife and I found a seat in the bar area. The club sandwich was good, the mac and cheese was fine. The fries were stale, the service was poor. Our server paid very little attention to us. I wouldn't go back.
My family eats here before seeing the shows at the 5th Avenue Theatre because it's convenient (it's right accross the street). The food and abience is what you'd expect from a standard sports bar & brewery; lots of TV screens playing sports, a long beer menu, steak, burgers, street food, tacos, etc. It's decent American food in a relaxed, family atmosphere, but nothing to rave about.
After a few months away, we returned to Rock Bottom Brewery a couple days ago to discover that some of our favorite menu items were gone and no longer being served. Then it took half and hour to get 1 salad and 1 sandwhich. When it came time to pay, our server gave us the wrong check...twice! And he didn't even notice until I pointed it out to him. The odd thing is, I've seen this server before, so he isn't new or training. In addition, I overheard the table of 4 next to us discussing how to pay their bill. The same server had split their check as they requested, but mixed up each check, charging each of them for the other's bill and double charging one of them. Usually the service is much better than this and I hope my experience was a fluke. I hope our server was having an off-day, but sadly my recent meal at Rock Bottom Brewery has made me want to explore new options for pre-theatre dining.
Overall good experience. Got there early due to catching earlier ferry. Was starting to fill up due to Seahawks game and Fifth Avenue Theater show starting in an hour and a half. They went ahead and seated us as soon as possible in a quieter area as we requested and did not rush us in any way. Server was pleasant and got our drinks to us right away. Ordered the Ale Chicken as the server suggested and it was super good. Plenty of food. I especially liked the mashed potatoes that came on the plate and yummy gravy. This is not a gourmet restaurant, but is a good spot when catching a musical at the Fifth Avenue Theater because it is directly across the street and takes the stress off going to one farther away where you have to figure in delays in meal service, weather and walking distance to get there in time for curtain opening. I will go there again.
VERY tasty food! Really enjoyed lunch there and will return for sure.
Reservation and seating went fine, but the server assigned forgot that we existed. Another waiter took pity on us and actually got the drink order started. Unfortunately I did not get her name. Once drinks and food eventually arrived, they were OK.
We all ordered burgers and all of them were grossly under cooked. It took a long time to flag down a waiter to address the issue. Since this is the only time I have eaten there I wouldn’t know if this was just an off night.
We had a 730 dinner reservation. We weren't sat until 745. There were 9 of us total. They had one server helping us. I think he was having a bad night as he took our drink order in segments. He brought one person'a drink then didn't take the remaining drink orders for 10 minutes. We decided to order appetizers since it was taking so long to just order drinks. When the waiter came back he ended up dropping a tray of red wine all over himself and broke a couple of glasses. Finally we had to get he manager involved and they did attempt to resolve by discounting the bill and getting the food out to us at once. The management stepped up to get us out of there but it was a hot mess prior to her involvement.
Tacos and fish and chips were both very good. Waitress that checked us in had no idea how to do it. Now I'm defending myself to open table as they think I am a no show.
The service, as usual, was terrific!
Just so you know, open table doesn't work with RockBottomand so we got there, and they didn't have our so had to leave!!!!
I am reviewing our initial visit to the bar. Our waiter Jules was the best! We requests he move with us to the restaurant when our larger group go there. The service in the restaurant was mediocre. Our first waiter was there 10 minutes and disappeared and we got a new one. She was nice but kept forgetting stuff and was slow.
Bar was much better
We will come back
Needed lunch before the Sat matinee at the 5th Avenue. Made reservations so were seated immediately. It was a busy time but we were well taken care of. This is my 3rd visit.
Very laid back in atmosphere and service. Our food was OK, but nothing I'm ready to hurry back for. It's proximity to the 5th Avenue was very convenient. It was nice sitting outside on a beautiful evening.
I don't know why I continue to come here. The hostess was extremely rude. I gave her my name for the reservation and she led me to the table without a word, dropped the menu on the table, then didn't respond when I thanked her. My waitress, on the other hand, was very friendly.
The food was not good. I had the fish and chips, which were very soggy. I set one aside and didn't eat it at all, because I wasn't certain it had even been properly cooked.
I only came here because I was craving the jalapeno bread sticks and dip -- which they were out of. I should have left rather than settling for a different menu item and tolerating crap service.
Stopped by here for dinner before heading to the theater for a performance. The service was great, drinks were very good and always refilled in a timely manor when they were emptied. Food selection was very good and service once done was quick and efficient. We were able to be done with more than enough time to make it across the street for the start of our show.
The outside patio seating makes you feel like you are on a vacation with the lights and city around you. The service on the patio is amazing. We go to Rock Bottom before our 5th Avenue performance and the wait staff remembers what we ordered for drinks and appetizers from a month or two back. Friendly staff, interesting food and good prices, especially Happy Hour. The food bites are large and flavorful. The location is across the street from the 5th Avenue and the convenience is wonderful. When we are seated inside due to weather the ambience is good, the wait staff attentive , it has warm atmosphere, conducive to conversation, the trees are lit outside the window which is so nice to look at on a wintry night. I like the way they switch up
menu items so you always have an opportunity to try new dishes. The also will prep menu items that are no longer listed but were favorites. The chef has a real good sense of spices, dishes are interesting with flavors that you try to decipher ,often there is a little spice warmth but not overpowering spice heat so you can enjoy the flavor. Rock Bottom is just a fun place that has never let us down, when they are slammed and maybe were a little slower then usual, they have comped our appetizers even though we said it was not an issue. I also like the fact that one can dress down or up and feel appropriately dressed. The fact one can go there before a baseball game or a 5th Avenue Musical and feel comfortable makes it a go to place for us. One of the fun things about Rock Bottom is that depending on your your mood, you have 3 choices: the bar which is lively, the main dining room which is more sophisticated and quiet, or the outside patio which is an escape from reality! I would highly recommend this spot for any occasion, for affordability, atmosphere , downtown convenience to events, menu quality, ability to accommodate special food requests and staff. Day, afternoon, evening and late night, you will not be disappointed.
Just got in seattle and needed something quick and fairly inexpensive. Pretzels were awesome. Had a regular burger with onion rings. Wife had a fish and chips dish. Too much oil or grease used in the deep fryer. Made the meal too heavy and needed a napkin to soak the grease on the plate. Burger was good. Service was fine.
We often eat at Rock Bottom before going to the Fifth Avenue because it's so darned convenient. The waiters are always friendly, knowledgeable and responsive. As long as you stick with basic bar food, it's fine. If you like spicy food, they make a great "El Diablo" pizza. And their Caesar salad is good. The carrot cake is huge but delicious -- great to share. Whenever I've tried fish dish, it's been overcooked or cold or both.
Great pub food and beer selection. Service was prompt.
Rock Bottom Restaurant is a favorite restaurant when we go to the 5th Avenue shows, the food and the staff personal are great.
Was a great choice for dinner before the theather!!!
