Rocco's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
there is no host stand when you arrive so guests come in and look like a deer in headlights as there is no one to greet you. It appeared our server might have been serving the whole restaurant... therefore his attitude was a tad short. Soup was cold and we had to ask for a wine bucket for a pricey bottle of wine. when he brought it, the wine bucket was too filled with ice for the wine to sit in. It is quite loud in there but it appears to be good place. Perhaps an off night.
We had a wonderful meal. The food was great and the wine selections very good. Unfortunately, the noise level was pretty loud. We will go back, but would request a table ina back room where the noise from the bar would be much less. I would recommend the restaurant with the noted noise level
Truthfully the elder vice rating would have been higher but we had the most off putting start to our experience. The blind server was insistent and rude telling me I had no reservation. After multiple times coming back and even after I showed her my OT app which confirmed I had a reservation, I eventually walked over to their seating system and showed her my reservation.
Just rude and argumentative. I nearly left but finally it looked like the Chef came out and told her to seat us.
Food was decent. Bread left a lot to be desired, especially when you actually have to pay for it. Burrata was not as soft and milky as I am accustomed to which is a shame. Pasta was good.
We had a lovely evening at Rocco’s. I loved the simple but cozy ambience with soft lighting. My husband had the paella, that had more fish and meat than rice. I had a shrimp pasta with a wonderful sauce. My only complaint was the shrimp were small and over done. Our biggest surprise was our dessert. We ordered Creme Brulé but it wasn’t ready so our wonderful waitress, Colleen, suggested the Love Cup. It was an amazing treat, that was a cup made of a thin, crunchy almond brittle filled with chocolate mousse. As we were scraping the last bit of our plate I was searching for the recipe on my phone. I’m sorry I don’t have a picture because it was a work of art!!!!
Rocco's Restaurant in San Clemente was a great find. We came from San Diego, our friends from L.A. and met here for dinner. The food was outstanding, with fresh ingredients and good choices. The service was delightful. Although busy, we were able to sit and chat for more than two hours and did not feel rushed. We liked the intimate feel of the place...only wish they had an espresso maching!
We were happy with our visit to Rocco's. The restaurant has a warm ambiance and was busy on Saturday night but not too busy. Rocco has an open kitchen and was busy at work cooking.
We had a group of 6, including two kids. They sat us in a private side room near the bathrooms. It was nice and quiet. We were able to enjoy our friends and the kids were happy having some space.
There is a kids menu which is nice. The menu is well-versed with many good choices. The prices for food and wine are reasonable. We were pleasantly surprised.
The food was good. We had risotto, parpadelle pasta and seafood pasta. Everyone was happy with their dinner.
We will definitely be back and are happy to support Rocco's restaurant!
This was such a pleasant find ... and experience. After being spurned to 3pm or 9pm by both of the Nick’s in town it was more than apparent it was time to take appetites and wallet elsewhere.
Nicely sized, wonderfully staffed, no sense of one imposing on space or time and not a hint of “table turn”. The food is beyond delicious and obviously prepared with great skill and care.
The staff , both bar and table make you feel valued without any sense of pretense at all. So refreshing.
All this in San Clemente. We couldn’t be happier at our discovery ... and at the delight taken in their trade, evident in all those running the restaurant that evening.
Everyone enjoyed their food, and one friend said it may be the best marinara he's ever had. We like to visit Rocco's when we have company because we know we'll get a great meal. And the prices / value are fantastic, so we don't feel badly about letting someone treat us to dinner. It's a little loud...
I rated 4 stars. I'm pretty picky. The meat was not worth it. the other things, there were five of us, all getting different entrees and appetizers, were very good. the Crab Cake was very good. The Empanadas were very good. Sausage on anything was real good. Pumpkin Ravioli was yummy, my favorite. All the sauces, including for the appetizers were very good and complimented the food well. Without prompting, my server offer sausage on my dish as she saw that was an interest to me. That's good service. The homemade pasta, wide flat was very very good and absorbed the sauce well. The rest of the pastas were just ok, but I'm from jersey and have very high standards for pasta. However, the pasta is just a carrier for the sauce, and as I said their sauces were close to exceptional.
The beer selection was meager. They had a lot of wines, but the one person in our group that wanted wine, wanted a trendy Rose, and there were none. Go for the food.
I'd go back, and will.
We were really pleased with the vegetarian options for appetizers and entrees. Everything was really very good and the cocktails well crafted. The service was a little too attentive with multiple persons coming by to ask the same questions, but everyone was very nice. We had reservations and were seated immediately.
Escargots à la Rocco, with sautéed spinach, are finger licking delicious! Everything we and the family have ordered (pasta al - fresh - salmon, filet mignon fettuccine, seafood pasta, lamb chops, and more), we have enjoyed and loved. Rocco's has become one of our favorite "go-to" places. Service is friendly and excellent all around and no hurrying through the meal!
