Food and service were good but ambiance was very poor. We were seated in a room the size of a small janitor closet. The room was located behind the bar, next to restrooms and next to the staff entrance to the kitchen. I recommend Rocco's for the food and service but when making reservations be sure to be very clear you do not want to sit in the broom closet.
Rocco's is one of my favorite local restaurants here in San Clemente. Its alway my "go to" choice when I want to go on a nice date with my wife. The food is great and the service is friendly and prompt.
Very good food! They’re soup is worth the trip! I would like a little better wine list. They should have wines worthy of the food
Tasty food, well presented, good service and an upbeat atmosphere made for a pleasant evening.
No one seemed to control greeting and seating. We had requested a table for Valentines Day in the front area and there was one that was vacant. However, we were put in an atmospherically sterile windowless room with poor ventilation control and a bizarre arrangement of tables meant for 3 couples. We should have left at that stage but we stayed hoping the food would make up for it. Unfortunately, the food was only very average and nowhere as good as the last time we ate there. Overall it was not a pleasant experience.
Great! The food and service was very enjoyable
Rocco's is a hidden gem! The food is amazing and the flavors are all incredible. The menu combines South American and Italian favorites. The Paella, Aurora Risotto , Filet Mignon and Zuppa Toscana are divine. The ambiance is nice and perfectly lit. The serving staff makes you feel like you stepped into their home. Belkis is always ready to recommend a great wine to go with your evening. And the Tiramisu is life changing. Check this place out!
Food & Service is wonderful. Too noisy for a romantic date.
Crab cake was lousy, Chilean sea bass was not good my wife's shreaded beef was not good beans were not good...service and ambiance were fine.
Great food and service. Had a party of 11 and the restaurant made us feel welcome:)
We loved our meals at Rocco's. Shared the ensalada Verde, with apples, craisins, and goat cheese. Delicious! We both had the Veal Saltimbocca, which was tender and delicious, and was served with lovely mashed potatoes and spinach. The sauce was delightful, and generous enough to put on the potatoes. Service was very good, too.
Enjoyed the Tuesday 3 sides special. My Ropa Vieja was outstanding & companion enjoyed the Lamb Chops. Lovely birthday dinner, great service by Joe & would return again.
Best restaurant in San Clemente! Love this place so much!
This is a gem of a find. I stumbled across this place while shopping and luckily got reservations for the following week. We showed with little knowledge of what we could expect and was pleasantly surprised on all levels. This place was amazing! I am gluten free and surprisingly they had many great choices clearly marked on the menu. I didnt have to explain what "gluten" is - which happens all to often in mainstream places. I also didnt need to special order in order to "make" my item gluten free. I ordered the sea bass and it tasted like butter. Perfectly cooked and the presentation was fabulous. Wine was fantastic, great energy, and everyone was having a wonderful time. I will definitely visit again. That is if I can get a reservations...that can be hard to come by!
Rocco's is consistently good. They have a nice menu with a good selection of very tasty dishes including gluten free options. The restaurant is the perfect size for small groups with that local hometown feel. A real gem in the heart of San Clemente.
Waiters are attentive. Food is great (let them know if you don't like garlic). Nice variety on the menu. Most everyone can find something to their tastes. I tend to rotate between my two favorites. I have one question for the masses... Why do most people under age 35 think they must SCREAM instead of just talk. It is so rude. Just a few loud mouths can really spoil the ambiance of a restaurant. It is usually good at Rocco's, but this last time there was a table of six who screamed. Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be screamers. Teach your children to simply speak in a normal voice.
there is no host stand when you arrive so guests come in and look like a deer in headlights as there is no one to greet you. It appeared our server might have been serving the whole restaurant... therefore his attitude was a tad short. Soup was cold and we had to ask for a wine bucket for a pricey bottle of wine. when he brought it, the wine bucket was too filled with ice for the wine to sit in. It is quite loud in there but it appears to be good place. Perhaps an off night.
for the first time it did not meet our expectations. we live in San Clemente and our friends are from Napa. they were vey disappointed.
We were seated right away. Food and service were excellent
Always a great experience! The food is fantastic and the service is always good . I try to get there at least once a quarter with my girlfriend!
We had a wonderful meal. The food was great and the wine selections very good. Unfortunately, the noise level was pretty loud. We will go back, but would request a table ina back room where the noise from the bar would be much less. I would recommend the restaurant with the noted noise level
great food, marsala dishes very tasty and loved the escargot
Always great food and excellent service. Our server was attentive, fun and articulate. The food is always creative and delicious.
Wonderful sea bass! Melts in your mouth!
Excellent food was delicious friendly service
Small but quaint restaurant with an interesting menu and consistently great service.
Truthfully the elder vice rating would have been higher but we had the most off putting start to our experience. The blind server was insistent and rude telling me I had no reservation. After multiple times coming back and even after I showed her my OT app which confirmed I had a reservation, I eventually walked over to their seating system and showed her my reservation.
Just rude and argumentative. I nearly left but finally it looked like the Chef came out and told her to seat us.
Food was decent. Bread left a lot to be desired, especially when you actually have to pay for it. Burrata was not as soft and milky as I am accustomed to which is a shame. Pasta was good.
We had a lovely evening at Rocco’s. I loved the simple but cozy ambience with soft lighting. My husband had the paella, that had more fish and meat than rice. I had a shrimp pasta with a wonderful sauce. My only complaint was the shrimp were small and over done. Our biggest surprise was our dessert. We ordered Creme Brulé but it wasn’t ready so our wonderful waitress, Colleen, suggested the Love Cup. It was an amazing treat, that was a cup made of a thin, crunchy almond brittle filled with chocolate mousse. As we were scraping the last bit of our plate I was searching for the recipe on my phone. I’m sorry I don’t have a picture because it was a work of art!!!!
Terrific Pappardelle alla Vodka! Absolutely delicious!
Our dinners, both had pasta, were creative, tasty and enjoyable.
