Rocco's Italian Grille Ratings and Reviews
Came here for Valentine’s Day, and managed to get a last minute reservation. Went in without extremely high expectations, and was completely blown away by the entire dining experience. Our waiter was fantastic, and the lasagna was the best I have ever had. On top of it all, the owner came by to make sure everything was perfect, and the tiramisu was out of this world.
We enjoyed our meal very much. Service was good but not excellent. I say that only because there was one male server who wasn't particular nice to a female server. Their exchange was near our table. The veal special I had was good but I don't think it was worthy of the price tag.
My wife and I will return... the next time I will not choose something being promoted for that evening.
The food here is consistently delicious but the pace of the meal is much slower than we like. About an hour and a half for each two course dinner. Probably designed for people who want to linger over wine, which we don't. We don't care for the live music. But the food is so good that we put up with the less desirable features.
First time dining here. This is a gem. The minute you walk in the door you receive a warm greeting. Live entertainment on the Saturday night we visited. Service was friendly and attentive. The food is outstanding. Every dish came out perfect. When the chef is the owner and he is actually in the kitchen and not selling cookbooks and pots and pans on QVC you can bet the food is going to be fresh and authentic. There is something to be said about the independent restaurants where the owner is treating you like family. From start to finish a great meal. Like dining in Italy without a passport. Definitely will be back.
We have been to Rocco's a number of times and it is a great place that "flies under the radar". I rated this visit 4 stars overall as there were some plus and minus. On the plus side, Alex was a great server and my Gorgonzola Filet was outstanding as was my gimlet. Both my wife and I had the caesar salad that could have used more flavor. Unfortunately my wife did not like her veal chop as she reported it to have little taste and served with a bland sauce. With respect to ambiance, normally Rocco's has an moderate, elegant vibe. On this evening there were two large parties with one seated in the main dining room that made the place overcrowded and noisy. We asked to be seated at a table away from the large party but was told that table was not available. (I wonder what if any consideration is given to diners with Open Table VIP status!) Based upon a good history with Rocco's we will consider this an "off night" and will plan to return.
What a great find; a real gem. The atmosphere, food and over all experience was far beyond my expectations. The friendly staff, a very pleasant surprise. I loved the quiet atmosphere, the caprese salad extraordinaire, and the extensive wine list. I highly recommend Rocco's Italian Grille. Rocco's has become my new favorite Italian restaurant in Orlando.
I spend one or two weekends per month in the Orlando area and Rocco’s is like the nice Italian restaurants in the Little Italy neighborhood of Chicago. Every month I invite my friends or neighbors to have dinner with me. The menu is wonderful, but I have learned that I am always happy with the specials of the evening. Excellent wine selection, live music on Saturday nights, Rocco and all the staff is attentive which all makes for a great evening with friends at Rocco’s !!!
Food was outstanding as always. We were seated in bar area for first time. Server was not attentive nor friendly. Previously servers have been outstanding. Server introduced herself complaining about cutting her hand and offered no suggestions on a NYE cocktail recommendation for the table when asked. Assuming this was isolated to one servers bad night.
Want great Italian food, go to Rocco's. Want a romantic evening with your honey, go to Rocco's. Want a true family night with family and friends, go to Rocco's. Authentic Italian favorites and innovative preparations, prepared by an inspired kitchen, served by a professional and informative staff and orchestrated by Rocco's great love of food and hospitality. And then there is Silvana, who is a hostess who greets you like no other in Orlando. Rocco's is like coming home for dinner..... in Italy. Try it! ..... you'll like!
Rocco’s is a WInter Park treasure.Friendly owner greeted us upon warmly upon arrival and seated us at our favorite table. Food was excellent and the special veal dish for the night was indeed special. This is a great restaurant with wonderful Italian food served in an inviting setting.
Mw wife and I were having dinner for our 28th wedding anniversary, a very special occasion which should have been both romantic and an overall good experience. Having arrived though, the owner and two other males were having dinner together two tables away. As the group drank more, they got louder, more boisterous and down right boorish. Soon talk turned to their wives and the comments became more borderline. At one point a remark was made at the table about a car being a "girls car", or something to that effect. The response, apparently funny to the group was "what does it run on, vinegar and water". Apparently, they thought it was boys' night out rather than a restaurant. That one comment was well over the decency line for anything other than a bar. You can't offend my wife but, there is an expected level of common etiquette and manners and this restaurant failed to meet those expectations. The fact that you may own the place is no excuse.
Rocco's is in our top three restaurants in the Orlando area. After living here 40 years, we've been to a few. Consistently excellent food with great , creative preparations. We are always greeted warmly by Rocco himself as he is hands on owner. Wine list is excellent and cocktails generous. We always look forward to a meal at Rocco's.
We made a reservation and were told it would be "just a few minutes", but 20 minutes later we had to ask a server when our table would be ready. We were finally seated about 30 minutes after our reservation time. The bartender was serving tables as well and was obviously bothered taking bar orders (we went to the bar to wait for our table). Also, once we were seated, we observed the owner yelling at an employee for dropping something. Food was OK...
This was my first visit to Rocco's. I was visiting in Orlando and found it on Open Table. It was pretty much everything I expected. Greeted cheerfully by the owner, really good waiter, excellent service overall. I had a Veal Chop that was seasoned perfectly and cooked to my liking but it was very tough and fatty for Veal. Still good but a little chewy. My date had a Swordfish Risotto that was well made but the very strong 'fishy' taste of the fish dominated the dish and took away the great taste and preparation of the risotto. Would not order that again. We will return but want to try more of typical Italian dishes.
Have dined here at least 25 times in the past 2 years and every meal has been superbly prepared under the watchful eye of Rocco. Pasta is served the traditional Italian style -- al dente and Rocco does not over saturate the pasta with mountains of sauce. Rocco only serves fresh fish and if you love veal or beef, he has high quality provisions. One favorite in our family is the best eggplant parmigiana you've ever tasted. The head bartender is a perfectionist when making your favorite cocktail and the wine list is quite extensive and fairly priced. Service in very personable and attentive and you are not rushed. A great touch is the live entertainment which is not intrusive in the main dining area, but if you choose to get up and dance to the music in the lounge area, you won't be alone. And when you finish your meal, if you elect to spend some more time in the lounge to enjoy the music and maybe an after dinner drink, it is a great finale to a perfect dining experience in this wonderful spot.
Very odd night. First visit for us. My wife ordered a veal dish and was brought a chicken dish. Not realizing it she started eating it. She then told the waitress who apologized but took no action to correct it. We did not make a fuss but were rather shocked. The food came out of the kitchen much too quickly. We were the only ones in the restaurant so not sure what the rush was. We took our remaining wine home and found the cork laying in the bag. Luckily we did not tip the bottle.
The bread was great and my ravioli was tasty though not a generous portion.
