Rocco's Italian Grille Ratings and Reviews
Everything was wonderful during our visit on a Monday evening. We arrived 30 minutes early for our 7 PM reservation and were promptly seated. The restaurant was by no means busy so our server was very attentive to our needs. We would liked to have a bit more explanation of the dishes as the menu was confusing.
Overall a good experience!
A hidden treasure that we will go back to regularly from now on. I cannot believe we have not been here before! The food and entertainment were fantastic. The decor is very cozy and tasteful yet fresh. From our entrance to our exit the service was great and attentive. The menu had old favorites like a pounded thin veal chop to an excellent range of fish and pastas; nice wine selection too. The singer, Lorna and piano player were the best. We do not understand the trend away from music in restaurants but for us that is the draw. Local places that have removed music have lost our business. I recommend this place for a special evening or to make an ordinary evening special.
Food was delicious, service was great, and the music really made for the perfect ambiance. The Frito Mixto was perfectly done. We had the grilled veal chop. It was very good quality, tender and juicy, with a tasty but delicate brandy sauce. I did not find the desserts appealing so I did not order any. I found the price of drinks high. I will go back and recommend to my friends.
Rocco's is reminiscent of an old-school New York Italian restaurant in décor, in "vibe", in the menu. It was wonderful, the service was excellent and personable, the menu large and inviting. The dinners we had were very well prepared.
And they even remembered the bomba dessert with a candle on it as a cap to the dinner and a reflection of my wife's birthday, per my request on Open Table. Well done.
We choose this place because of the reviews and supposedly a very romantic restaurant. We were there to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary. When we made reservations we stated that we were celebrating our anniversary. We were greeted by someone and told them we had reservations. We asked to sit in a booth and were taking to the bar area where they were 3 booths. First appearance made me think wow they looked a little dingy. The area was loud because there was a group of people having a meeting. That of course is not the fault of Rocco 's but still added more to making our appearance bad. When the server came to our table we let him know we were celebrating 31 years he congratulated us but that is where it ended. What would it hurt to give us a glass of house wine to celebrate. I wanted to feel special instead a left disappointed. We choose this place when we could have eaten anywhere and I wish we had. The music wasn't loud almost too low it was suppose to be a romantic restaurant . No mood lighting , no music to speak of and the food and service was okay. Totally a waste of money. We have already told many of our friends to stay away. Not impressed!!! Suggestion : redecorate and refurbish the booths.
Reading the reviews, I expected more. This was a birthday celebration and a party of four, quaint restaurant, nothing fancy. Wait staff was not up to par, we had to ask for the wine list, for water and bread. We waited the normal time for the food to come (about 30 min after order) and the food was cold. Looked like it had been sitting for a while. Presentation was OK, but all the salt/pepper or cheese did not make it any tastier. Quite bland.
I was on a date and we had a nice time at this restaurant. It seemed like a very authentic Italian restaurant. Our server was actually from Italy and some other people were communicating in Italian. Maybe it is owned and operated by Italians? Anyhow, I had caprese for appetizer and carbonara for entree. Caprese was good and carbonara was excellent. The glass of sangria was $14 and I thought it was pretty overpriced for what it was. Aside from food, the restaurant has a romantic ambience. It was very quiet for Saturday evening which I actually appreciated since everywhere else is so crowded on the weekend evenings. Not sure why this place was so slow. They had a nice live music going on too. Definitely older crowd but nice nonetheless.
We love Rocco's and go often. This time, we were seated in the bar area in a nice booth. All was well until the music started (10 feet or so away) and that ended all conversation. If you are there for the music, that's the place to sit. If you aren't make sure you are seated in the main dining area!
The food was not good. We hate to send things back, but had to send so many items back, that we still ended up eating meals we were not pleased with. I am not the type to complain or send things back. The chef was very unprofessional and offensive when he came to talk to our table about our complaints. I will never go back and would never recommend this restaurant !
I've been to Rocco's many times before so I figured it was time to write a review.
This is by far the best Italian restaurant I've been to (I grew up in an Italian home with Italian cooking). The food is always fresh, made from scratch and never, ever disappoints.
From the wine list, to the appetizers, to the salads, entrees, etc.
It is truly an amazing place to go for any occasion. I love how the owner, Rocco, greets everyone at the door and makes sure that he stops by everyone's table to make sure that your experience is amazing. I love Rocco's and will continue to dine here.
I made a Valentines day reservation and when I got to the restaurant at the appropriate time they couldn't find my reservation. I showed them my confirmation and then the hostess sent us into the bar area to a high top and NEVER gave us menus. We sat and waited for service for 30 minutes before we finally walked out. I will also mention I traveled 45 minutes to go here and enjoy a wonderful meal with my wife but that WAS NOT the case. NEVER GOING HERE!
We could not order drinks from the table during happy hour at happy hour prices. We had to get up from the table and go to the bar for drinks. I am not sure the reason for this practice and should be reconsidered by the owners. This is a minor inconvenience for a wonderful Italian restaurant
