Rocco's Cafe Ratings and Reviews
This restaurant is AMAZING!!! Extremely good value...I would have been happy paying more! The quality of the food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. The chef/owner came out for a chat and our table was well taken care of. We had a person with strict dietary restrictions and they made sure she had options available to suit her needs. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
Reliable, excellent dining. Took my spouse there, upon request, in order to get his favorite meal. I also have a favorite meal (Clams!) and as usual, a perfect result. Delicious flavor that stayed with us for several hours after our dining ended. We'll be back again very soon.
I had been raving about the food at Rocco's for a while to people at work and decided to take a co-worker there one evening. We arrived just before our 6:00 p.m. reservations on a Thursday evening only to find that the power was out in a 2 block radius and they were not sure if they could cook. The chef decided there was still enough natural light for him to cook, so they graciously allowed us to order. EVERYTHING was amazing. My co-worker said it was the best linguini and clams she had tasted in a very long time. The eggplant and chicken parmagiana were outstanding. Not having power actually added to the ambiance and made the evening even more special. As we were leaving, the power was restored. I don't know many restaurants that would have accommodated the customer without power. It was an amazing night.
This experience was great. The food was delicious, both my friend & I thoroughly enjoyed the cozy feel of the Restaurant as well as the smooth efficient & professional service! Oh,and did I mention friendly servers. We each had something from the appetizer sections,Steamed Clams & Grilled Polenta with Marinara Sauce,House salads & Entree specials.Grilled Petrale Sole & Veal Parmigiana which were great.! Healthy portions and TASTY!
A great place to eat after a SF Giants game!
My family and I have been coming to Rocco’s since I was a kid. This particular evening I brought newbies with me to check it out. I was so embarrassed =( The restaurant was just not happening at all. Wait staff was absent-minded and clumsy. Poured olive oil bread dip and soup on us. The food taste and quality was really poor. The Roast Beef was really burned black on one side, raw veggies, and fishy smelling/tasting sole piccata. It was a bad night. I felt bad for the owner. My first time for a bad experience. I’ll go back but I won’t bring newbies with me for a while.
Awesome, awesome, awesome! We were in San Fransisco on vacation and found this place by accident. It was a pleasant surprise. We loved the fact that it had been featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives though we did not know that till we got there. It was a wonderful experience.
We were looking for a new restaurant experience near the Golden Gate Theatre and came upon Rocco's Cafe which is just a 15 minute walk. It is very much the neighborhood restaurant with a very unassuming decor. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and the service continued to be superior. Both of us had pasta and we agreed that it was the best meal we had in San Francisco in a while. Not foodie fancy, just perfectly cooked down home Italian. Can't beat it.
Was taking my cousin out for her birthday dinner and she wanted to go to Rocco's. I've never been there but I look at the menu and it looked delicious so we booked a reservation. It's very much a neighborhood bar with a lot of pictures on the walls and a vibrant Bar area. We ordered two appetizers the call Amari and the bait polenta which was incredible. I ordered the chicken piccata with a side of pesto which also comes with a salad and was more than enough food I actually took some home. The chicken piccata had a nice lemony flavor with capers stir into out and was absolutely delicious. I couldn't finish my dinner so I had a packed away for next days lunch which I eat later that night I can wait for the next day to have my leftovers! Will be back soon
The food was very good and they serve breakfast until 3PM (I think) so my client was very happy to be able to order pancakes for lunch. But it definitely wasn't what I had expected for doing a business lunch. It was WAY too noisy and casual...but the food was delicious and our waitress was also great. I would go back, but not for a business lunch.
Decided to try this place based on reviews. This is one of those local small family owned businesses that has been thriving in SOMA since the early 1990's. Restaurants don't survive long in SF unless they are doing it RIGHT. This is one of those "locals only but everyone welcome" places where you are treated like family when you walk in the door. Had a chance to visit with the receptionist and she recommended the linguini with clams in white sauce. Because I was alone, got to sit at the bar which overlooks the cooking area so I could see the care that went into each dish. Portions are generous, the aromas from the cooking area are wonderful. Prices are a bit higher than in the midwest, but hey, this is SF. Well worth the cost, no question. The linguini was the perfect "al dente" and the clams with white sauce were nicely spiced, not overdone, just good family style italian supreme comfort food. Definitely will return on the next trip to SF SOMA district.
If you have business near the Moscone Center, Rocco’s Café is not far to go for some reasonably priced, homestyle Italian food. I enjoyed an ample dish of linguine with tomato, basil, and garlic topped with five large grilled shrimp. My friend and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and enjoyed the laid back atmosphere. The service was efficient on a busy Friday night. I will be back the next time I visit SF!
