Rocca Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We haven't been at Rocca in a while just because of life being busy. We went after our daughters volleyball game and booked immediately for an 8:30pm dinner. Got in no problem..The food was absolutely delicious...the tortellini with bacon and peas in a light cream butter sauce was amazing. The alfredo with rock shrimp and scallops my friend had and loved it. Waiters & staff always attentive! We will definitely go back there again!
Rocca is one of our favorite restaurants; the ambiance, food, and service are excellent. We were disappointed this time, only , because we all wanted to order the three dinner specials, and when our server returned to take our order, none were available. We did enjoy our second choice.
just took my dad for his 87 birthday. our waiter turned out be a person we already knew. food was great, service was great, prices are not cheap, but good places are just not cheap. when it was all said and done, we had a terrific time, and the food and service was all we could have wanted.
we will be going back again.
Lovely spot where two couples gathered for a nice reunion dinner on a Sunday evening. We were quickly ushered to a very nice table for four right by the front window and quickly served cocktails even though only two of us had arrived. High point of my meal was the Gorgonzola salad---Outstanding! My wife had the tasty Eggplant entree and I the Farfalle. Both were excellent but as is the case with many Italian restaurants, we could easily have split the entrees. If there was a down side, it was the group of ten that came in about half way through our meal on their way home from the latest 49er loss. They were drowning sorrows more loudly than any of us would have chosen but I will certainly return.
We found Rocca's through OpenTable when we were in Burlingame on business. The menu was varied and all of us found more than one choice to select from -- it was a difficult choice! We all were more than happy with the choices we made, and had a lovely bottle of wine to complement it all. The bread pudding for dessert was wonderful too!
The food was ok. I expect better flavor for the price. The fish was cook perfectly. I didn't know it would be breaded, so I had to scrape off the breading. The vegetables were under cooked. I did try the tortellini my co-worker had and it tasted really good. The table was very clean. Had the chocolate cake, it was very dry.
This was our third visit to Rocca. The food is always superb as is the service. My wife and I had a great evening. There crab cakes are delicious. I always order one of their evening specials. This time I had linguine with seafood. Superb!! We will return again!!!
We went here because of the good ratings. Should have known when there was no wait on a Saturday night at 7:30. Being vegetarian I had the eggplant rollitini. Thin and mushy and was smothered with a sauce that looked and tasted like Chef Boyardee. Terrible. My date, also a vegetarian, had mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. There was no hint of potatoes at all it had to be instant. I tasted it too, BAD! The veggies were bland and flavorless. We should have gone next door to the pizza joint.
Attentive staff. Street parking on this busy street could be a challenge. Parking meters were timed at one hour at a time, which meant that we practically kept watching the time and feeding the meter. Heard side streets might be helpful--shall check on it next time. Loved the spumoni gelato.
its a good restaurant, no disappointments here .But the meals are a bit less real italian style as expected .The servant used italian words but when spoken to in italian he turned out to be from another mediterranean country . Anyway, all is well , but not typically .
I eat at Rocca often and have been for years. It is consistently good and have never let me down. The food is genuine Northern Italian with great pastas and superb specials every night. Service is always attentive but not intrusive. My favorite place in Burlingame.
Heard great things about this place from a Burlingame local. The staff is wonderful. The decor makes you feel like you are in Umbria. But that feeling ends once the food arrives. It is July in CA. Height of heirloom and other yummy varieties of tomatoes. Ordered caprese salad to split. Tomatoes were flavorless and tasted like the kind of tomatoes you buy in February in the Midwest. The balsamic dressing dressing was drenched over the whole dish.
We then ordered Farfalle with chicken, porcini and peas in cream sauce. 3 small bite size pieces of chicken and dish was tasteless. We had to salt it multiple times at table. The Saltimboca was unimpressive. We didn't try our luck on dessert, opting instead to find gelato elsewhere. Probably a great place if you like nostalgia but otherwise "average Italian food"
The food was tasty (except for my dessert - not a fault of the restaurant). I love how the food comes out piping hot out of the oven. And the portions are very generous so you won't leave hungry. Staff was attentive and helpful.
Started with the calamari (which was good, not great) and a simple salad (also good). Bread with the olive oil/balsamic/garlic mix was good.
Entrees were a hit for everyone at the table: seafood pasta (special), veal marsala, farfalle pasta and pasta with scallops and shrimp. No one could finish their entree so we had leftovers the next day.
As for the dessert, I ordered the mocha crunch cake - which was underwhelming. I'm guessing the cake is bought and not made from scratch in house. 2 orders of Spumoni were enjoyed as well.
