About RoCCA - Glen Rock
Named in homage to the town of Glen Rock and the building in which it is located, Rocca is the Italian translation of ‘rock fortress.’ Opened in 2004, Rocca features an innovative Farm-to-Table menu and a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for lunch, dinner and private parties.
Beginning in 2011, Chef Levy spearheaded the Farm-to-Table movement in Northern New Jersey. While he has always procured seasonally fresh, high quality ingredients, he routinely sources local farms for produce, cheese and grass fed meats. Housemade pastas, focaccia, mozzarella, pastries and ice cream remain staples. Favorite "Rocca Classic" dishes are still represented while he injects unique New American cuisine with locally sourced flair.
Come and taste what New Jersey diners have been experiencing for over 13 years!

RoCCA - Glen Rock Ratings and Reviews
A great dinner we had. We shared the crispy olive salad and the kabocha squash soup, both yummy. For our entrees, we had the red snapper, salmon, and the bolognese, all delicious. For desserts, we had the chocolate cake and zeppoles with coffees. The service was gracious and had a nice evening. Thank you very much.
We celebrated our 36 anniversary here with our family. The food was excellent and we were all happy with our meals. We shared calamari and the burrata apps. The fried olive and artichoke frisée salad was delicious. We had pasta, fish and short ribs and everything was cooked to order. Service with a smile and quiet atmosphere enabled us all to talk and enjoy the evening.
Christmas Eve so many came without reservations. We had reservations but still had to wait because the people arriving before us (without reservations) were given our table. I believe they were short a server, because service as a bit slow from the start. The wines were poured right away, but the designated driver waited an awfully long time for the iced tea! The scallops and the braised ribs were terrific as well as the salmon!
Was very disappointed . Service was AWFUL had to wait ten minutes just for a menu. Had to ask for bread. Selection was not good why on Christmas Eve so many items with meat?! No one even asked how our food was also we ordered two apps for three people, they gave us two pieces of ricotta toast for three people. Overpriced for what it was and honestly the fish dish my boyfriend ordered had a slight smell. We will not be back
The food at Rocca usually does not disappoint. They have their classic staples that have remained like the mushroom tagliatelle or were put back on the menu popular demand, such as the PEI mussels. The service, however, it's always a disappointment. Ever since they got rid of their old maître d' and seasoned wait staff about seven years ago, it has not been the same. The waiters are aloof and not particularly willing to make accommodations. When they see a mixed a table of adults and children, they do not sweep in and ask if they could put the children's food in first. They seem more interested in chatting with each other than checking in with the guests. There is one bus person who has been there for many years and is always helpful with a great personality and a good memory for repeat guests!
We always enjoy our meals at a Rocca. New menu, entrees somewhat limited, but they added more starters and small plates. My husband had the cavatelli with spicy meatballs and I had halibut with butternut squash risotto. Both were delicious! Service was friendly and attentive.
We booked a 5pm reservation to bring our 5 month old and avoid ruining the experience for other diners. We were the first table of the evening and our little one mercifully slept the whole time. The service was friendly and helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. We had the calamari with hot peppers (perfectly light and crispy), seared tuna and an A+++ mushroom & truffle bolognese pasta with our BYOB cabernet and ricotta fritters with jam for dessert. All of their pastas are homemade and the chef regularly updates the dinner menu. We will be back!
The food was real good but being more aware of eating healthy, I would have liked if they had some green veggies on the menu or at least as a side dish to order. Other than that, everything was good except the gnocchi. Good but VERY little gnocchi in the dish.
WE HAD A GROUP OF 3 COUPLES THAT HAD BEEN TRYING TO GET TOGETHER FOR QUITE SOME TIME. WE DECIDED TO GO TO ROCCA SINCE WE HAD NOT BEEN THERE IN A WHILE. WE ALL ENJOYED THE FOOD, 4 OF US GOT THE SHORT RIBS, ONE HAD TUNA AND ONE HALIBUT. WE TRIED THE CRAB CAKE APPETIZER AND SOME SALADS. EVERYTHING WAS VERY GOOD AND THE DESSERTS WERE OUTSTANDING, DON'T MISS THE CANNOLI GELATO! SERVICE WAS VERY GOOD. WE WILL BE BACK.
What a great find. I love the fact that they offer half and full orders on many of the dishes. It allowed us to try more of their selections rather than having to choose between them. The halibut could not have been whiter or tastier. The pear ravioli was delicious. A nice twist on an old flavor. Pan fried gnocchi with butternut squash, and warm buttercup Brie. Could not have been any better.
We have dined on a number of occasions at Rocca and it was one of our favorites. However on this visit we were disappointed. The restaurant had decided to drastically change (limit) the menu, apparently the day before we dined there. Although we were told that the chef could make some of the items that had been on previous menus (and were shown on the Rocca website that same day) we ordered from the new menu. My wife had halibut, which came with brussel sprouts and couscous. My wife (and another diner at a nearby table) asked if they could get something other than brussel sprouts and were told spinach. The only things that I found to my liking were the pastas and egg plant parmigiana, which is what I had. No longer does Rocca offer daily specials, which for years on Wednesday was chicken marsala. To make a long story short, the meals were very good but very skimpy. I believe Rocca will lose a lot of business with this limited menu, no specials and smaller portions. There are many other good Italian restaurants in Bergen County and Rocca is off our list.
Amazing, our first time and lived up to our expectations and beyond. Can’t wait to return, the food was unique—this is not really an Italian restaurant. We’ll be back with more friends ASAP. Thanks to your gracious staff, always two steps ahead of our needs. Carrot cake was also “awesome.”
Again; my wife and I had an exceptionally delicious meal. Just when I thought my previous tuna dish was simply the best imaginable,, Chef Greg came up with a new prep. which I dreamt about for our next visit.
If you like a really fresh seafood salad, this dish is a great starter.
My wife had a seafood corn chowder soup and sauteed pignoli crusted halibut as her main.
Rocca is a must go if you appreciate fine dining without NYC prices.
The food was outstanding. The value for the "business lunch" was fabulous. Unfortunately, the waitress was rude and made us feel very unwelcome. Any waiter that visited our table was very polite, but the waitress was one of the worst I've ever had. Perhaps she was having a very bad day, but it should not have been taken out on our paty. It really put a damper on our time together and our experience at Rocca as a whole. It was very unfortunate because we all loved the food.
it lived up to its expectations. bacon cheddar risotto cake was scrumptious. veal saltimbocca was mouth watering. only puzzler was a menu item (chicken) that used the goffle rd poultry farm product, while chicken parmegean did not. so said our server. puxxling. anyway, food was as billed, would go again for sure.
Cannot say enough good things about Rocca. Have been here several times since it opened and it never disappoints. The food is excellent and the service is wonderful. The servers are polite, knowledgeable and just very nice to be around. Thank you so much for yet another wonderful dining experience.
We had a terrific experience on Saturday night. We started off with the mussels in bacon, garlic-white wine broth with two pieces of grilled crostini. We asked for extra to suck up the delicious sauce. And we ordered the cheddar risotto cake which was crispy delicious and served with pulled pork belly and pineapple and was really special appetizer not to be missed. For our entrees, we ordered two housemade special pastas: orchiette with cherry tomatoes, asparagus, and sausage as well as strichetti with mushrooms, peas, and asparagus which was very light and delicious. We were extremely full to have dessert. Service was lovely and positive.
Service was an issue with us. It took us 2 1/2 to eat. We waited for everything except water and bread. It seemed to us the kitchen must have been short handed or simple backed up. However, we felt abandoned. Several tables around us came in after us, ate complete meals and left before we finished our entrees, which sat on the table 20 min before being picked up. Then we waited another 15 min before someone asked us if we wanted desert. Though we were in the middle of the room and the entire staff had to walk past us, we felt invisible. No one checked on us at all.
The food was so so. Two of us had the snapper. Our feeling was that is had to be old or frozen, as it was so dry. One had the zuppa de peace and ate it all because she was hungry. She felt she has had better. The fourth had monkfish.
Desert: when I asked if we could be out within an hour got a laugh and the items came out relatively quickly but my espresso was on the cool side of lukewarm. How could that be?
May be awhile before we go back.
There's truly something for everyone there. An excellent meal with amazing halibut, tuna and handmade pasta for the adults and mini chicken parm for the kids...we were a group of 8 for a birthday--everyone loved what they had, and service was warm and skilled. We can't wait to return to sample more of the menu and make it a date night. Truly a quality restaurant in a sea of suburban mediocrity.
