Rocca Bar Ristorante
Service and ambiance was good. Food was awful. Will not go back.
My only criticism is we ordered an appetizer, salad and entree. Each came out a little to quickly. The salad came while we still had our appetizer, and the same with the entree. We ended up with many plates on the table and feeling rushed to finish the previous course. Allow some time to enjoy the great ambience of the balcony. Overall it was very good.
Was a little let down this visit. The food was okay but the menu choices were limited and some items had changed and a lot of tomato items and I can’t eat tomatoes. The bathroom had no toilet paper I reported went back 20min later and still no toilet paper. Waitress was super nice.
The Rocca team accommodated our four families in addition to many extra cadets who attended our dinner the night prior to their graduation. They were friendly and made many changes at the last minute to meet our needs.
Waited 30 minutes for our salads and bread. Waitress laughed when we asked if the bread was gluten free since she knew my husband had Celiac disease. Then not 2 minutes later she brought our dinners and made a joke about it. Food was mediocre at best and 15 to 20 people at a time were constantly walking past diners from the outside deck. Not relaxing and poor service with tasteless food.
Went for a graduation celebration. Very nice place. Food was fair. Service was very attentive.
I always love dining here. The food is unique and tasty. The server was gracious and prompt for our large group. I did not give 5 stars on food only because my moms flatbread was missing several toppings as listed on the menu.
The Mother's Day brunch was nothing special for the price charged. The buffet food was warm and not hot. It was dark in the buffet area, could not see the food choices very well. The restaurant looked like it needs updating.
Amazing lunch buffet!! Food was excellent, service was great!
Nice selection on menu for all and various price ranges and atmosphere very nice. Went to celebrate my sons graduation from W&L Law School and it added to the special time to celebrate in an enjoyable downtown establishment to get the feel of Lexington.
It was our first time and we were told about it by a friend. Our server Heather did a great job. Drinks were wonderful and the food was great too. The only thing was that we didn't realize how big the outside patio was and that there was music there until we left and looked up! So we have to go back another time and sit outside!
My wife and I like this resturant. It's in a good location , not to new/not to old. The menu has a good variety of selections. The service was outstanding!!! I will be back with friends.
This restaurant is the loudest restaurant I’ve ever been to and there were only about 10 people in the whole restaurant. We even have a toddler and you couldn’t hear any of her noises and we were screaming to each other like in a night club. The waitress was great and took off my meal but they must have forgotten seasoning or butter and the veggie was not as described on the menu. We will not be going back or recommending to anyone at the horse shows.
It was a very expensive Easter Brunch $33/pp, with limited food choices, and it was lunch- no breakfast foods. We were not aware of this, even though we were eating at 11am.
Ok. Not great. Service was much improved over our last visit. Food was a B. Scallops were reasonably well prepared but pasta was tough. Chicken carbonara had very little chicken but sauce was nice. They feature a happy hour which attracts numerous W&L students who don’t leave until after 7 so plan reservations after that time - the students are loud and rude.
Good meal and atmosphere. Steak was one of better steaks I have had in Lexington.
Over priced for what you get. I had shrimp and with vodka
food was very mediocre, nothing special. Service was good
Wonderful atmosphere in a historic Hotel. Fabulous Dinner at the Bar !! A Must when in Lexington, Va whether for a Lacrosse weekend or visit !
Their wines were good, the food was delicious!
Pleased with overall. We have eaten all over the world and are picky. There is little to choose from in Lexington and this has become my go to for a real dinner. Thanks for continuing to improve it. The first time I ate here when it first opened I was very disappointed, so you have managed to turn my opinion around which isn’t easy. Good job!
We were seated promptly for our reservation. Service was great, however it would’ve been nice to hear some recommendations of food, drink, or specials. The food that we all had was delicious. We will be back again.
We had a low key dinner with our teenage son. Everything was yummy! Wait staff was very friendly. Plan on going back the next time we are in town.
We were there for Valentine’s Day. We were extremely surprised at the poor quality of food & prep relative to the price. The meals were not very good. The bread - we have never had it so tasteless before. My husband had the steak which was not prepared very well & had very little flavor didn’t eat much of it. The scallops/shrimp vodka fettucine was ok but for $40/per dinner there were 2 shrimp & 2-3 scallops & I was still hungry as the serving seemed like a tapas meal. The choc torte was ok but a bit heavy & the crushed fruit that was to accompany the torte was a strawberry partially sliced. We were very disappointed especially since our bill was over $175 & we didn’t even enjoy the meal. The plating left something to be desired also. We will not go back we learned our lesson.
This was my first time at this place. The food was amazing and hot. The bread was delicious. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating. I plan to come back soon.
A friend and I met at Rocca's before heading to a college basketball game and hit them during happy hour. Wine and beer were offered at very reasonable prices. There were also several appetizers at good prices. We both ordered a shrimp cocktail and were impressed with the fish and the tangy sauce that accompanied them. We then both got a flat bread pizza and were pleased how quickly they showed up. I felt there was a little too much blue cheese on the pizza but my friend liked his just fine. We learned while dining that the senior chef had just moved to a new position and the kitchen staff was "winging" it. We did not notice any problems and wish them well in filning a new head person for the kitchen.
Neat place in a small place-Lexington VA
Infamous The Red Hen around the corner and the Main Street Bistro across the street. Bar and small restaurant in the Robert E Lee Hotel. The experience was exceptional.
Dinner was good, took awhile for it to come. My steak was ok, not very thick consequently a little over done but still had a good flavor . The chocolate Martini was incredible.
We always enjoy coming to Rocca's....the food is good, the wait staff is very attentive and you don't feel rushed.
Food and drink was good. Service was horrible. The waitress asked us our order twice. While waiting for our food the waitress left in tears. One of our meals was never brought out, until we stood up and asked where our entree was. Service was bad, food was good, and we had to laugh about the incompetence or we would have yelled.
Crazy but fun time to visit Rocca on the December Christmas Parade night. Rocca has the only second story porch overlooking the parade route. It has become "the place to go" to watch the very popular parade. But the staff is not equipped to handle all the people so it turns into a crazy night to drink and dine there. We knew that when we made our reservations so we were prepared. It took almost a half an hour to get two glasses of wine standing at the TINY bar because they were so slammed. Our dinner progress was a bit slow as well. But, all in all, it was a good experience. I ordered the caesar salad with an appetizer of fried calamari. The salad was very good, as expected. The calamari was extremely tender and tasty. My husband ordered one of the pasta dishes which was outstanding but the side of meatballs were not to his liking at all. He took one bite and pushed them aside. We have found the the service at Rocca is spotty but the food, once you get it, is generally very good. Our service once we sat down for dinner was as prompt as could be expected on this extraordinarily crazy night. I would recommend giving Rocca a try if you are in town for more than one night. But it is not top of my list for places to dine in Lexington if you are only in town for a night or two.
Went to Rocca for our annual dinner prior to watching the local Christmas parade from their balcony. There was 1 waitress for the whole restaurant and 3-5 employees working as bartenders, running drinks outside. We waited at least 15 min for menus, then ~10 min for water, 15 min for drinks, even longer for food, which was lukewarm at best. The whole staff was running back & forth catering mostly to the HUGE crowd on the balcony, carrying mostly drinks, coffee drinks & plates of food outside, while we waited inside for water and drink refills, AND a chance to order appetizers and dinner. I asked for a substitute on the menu and was told it couldn't be done. We went out to see the parade & could not see anything, people were standing at least 6 deep crowded on the balcony. Dozens of people, even some teens, walked into the restaurant carrying takeout coffee cups, going straight through to the balcony, clearly not diners. There was no concern for those of us left waiting inside for service. We were told by a hotel guest that they were told you had to have dinner in order to watch from the balcony, and we know this, it's why we had reservations a month ahead of time. This was our four fourth and final year at Rocca to watch the Lexington Christmas parade. We probably will not even go back for dinner, honestly, the food was not that good, nor was it hot. A truly unmemorable evening, for what used to be a fun event that we looked forward to. We're locals, but next year we will be reserving a room at one of the hotels north on Main St with a balcony so we can watch the parade.
It was ok. The steak and pork chop were very good. The bread was very good as well. The vegetable sides were a little disappointing.
We ate our Thanksgiving meal midday at Rocco’s and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the buffet, with lots of options. The waitress was friendly and flawless. It was quite quiet, in the ballroom, to enable conversation. We would recommend this venue for a special occasion.
5th steak was way undercooked so only ate 1/2 of it. Service was slow but friendly. Wine list was overpriced & only adequate.
I was very pleased with the outstanding food and service. I was a little disappointed in the amount of noise. I had a reservation and was seated right by the bar. Very loud. Not the romantic dinner I had planned
We have enjoyed the breakfast at Rocca in the past, but dinner is so-so.
Food was less than par. Very disappointing entrees.
We were on a date night getaway and stayed at the hotel this restaurant is in. Our table was in a tight spot right in the middle of the highest foot traffic area in the room. Our table was by the bar and people were in and out constantly. Staff and other guests kept wishing by us. The room was very noisy. We couldn’t hardly hear each other talk. The staff were very friendly. We ordered the New York Strip with fries. The meat was very good. The fries and veggie were very good, but just not very many served. The prices were way too high for what you got. To top it off, our table was very wiggly, which was annoying when try to cut our meat. We would not be interested in going to this restaurant in the future.
The staff was very accommodating, the service was impeccable and the food delicious.
We will be back.
