Robert's Steakhouse-Taj Mahal - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
It took an inordinate amount of time to get our food. We had a concert that began at 8pm, we let our server know that, and we missed the opening because service was so poor. Not the waiter's fault - assuming it was the kitchen. Food was very good but a bit overpriced.
Quiet dining room with many booths and some tables like in a large diner. The prices are out of control since you get a roll (hard) served and then a small salad. We both ordered steaks, had to pay extra for a sauce. My wife had a Fillet Mignon with green pepper sauce, she was quite surprised not finding any green peppers in it. I had the Ribeye Steak with a very
runny Bernaise sauce (tasted more like a doctored A1 sauce). any side item is an extra $ 12.
We had a small salad together, our steaks each with a sauce, and the salty french fries with
aioli (or Mayonaise). 3 glasses of wine and paid $ 165.00. Have had better dinners with larger salad, more on the plate, and a bottle of wine for less. (Wolfgang Pucks & Bobby Flay) Never again..
Sorry cannot recommend as a steak house. Roberts advertised as a NYC steakhouse experience, but presentation of steak was undesirable. Our steak was sliced down in the kitchen and put under a heat lamp changing the temperature and providing a dissappointing presentation. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Roberts and while we liked the atmosphere the meal was a disappointment. Our steak cost $110, a price that demands a more considerate presentation.
We stayed at the taj for the weekend and decided to celebrate our anniversary dinner at Roberts. Waiter was very friendly. We ordered oysters which were delicious! We had to order another round. For main course i ordered the filet mignon special which came with encrusted mushroom and mashed potato, it was to die for. My boyfriend ordered just an 8oz filet mignon said it was good but a bit too chewey, but ordered a side of mac and cheese and said that it was fantastic! The place is very fancy looking and has comfortable booths.
We tried Robert's as a special treat for date night. The food was very good, service provided by Christine was excellent. Tuna Plancha was good and the Filet topped with crab was excellent. Food prices were high; wine prices were excessive. Good meal but poor value.
The food I received was sour to the point I could not swallow it. This is not what I expected from a high end restaurant. After I sent it back, the waiter was the only one to come over.
You would have thought someone from management would have acknowledged the situation.
My fiance brought me here for a birthday dinner. The service was AWESOME and my steak (Ribeye) was easily the one of the BEST steaks I've ever had. I'm not a steak sauce guy, but even the sauce provided was AMAZING...it had me alternating bites between sauce and no sauce...I could choose which was better!
My fiance ordered the scallops and they were equally as delicious!
I cannot recommend this place enough!
A small group got together for 2 birthdays . The service was wonderful . I really didn't know what to expect . Well the food was amazing ! All of the steaks were cooked to perfection. We also had the scallops which were delish. Can't say enough . I will be going back .
The food and service was very good.
However my wife and I had felt that the pricing was a bit much for what it was.
We have been to other comparable restaurants and felt we get more for our money elsewhere with the same or better quality.
We were staying at The Taj Mahal so we decide to have dinner there rather than our usual spot out of convenience.
I would dine there again if I was staying at the hotel and did not want to travel out for the night.
I would not make a special trip to dine there.
We spent about $200.00 for 2 Steaks One side , Two Desserts and one of their least expensive glasses of wine.
I have been to Robert's steakhouse at least a dozen times over the last two years and I suddenly realized that I wasn't into steak this time around, but I saw items on the menu that I had before that I would try again and also something new. The wild mushroom risotto was perfectly flavored, as well as the Robert's salad and the lobster-shrimp spring roll (okay, so it wasn't vegan, but I was on a seafood high that weekend). The desserts were homemade and delicious as always (was torn between grandma's rice pudding and the cheesecake which didn't really have a crust!). The ambience in the dining hall was always there during the early evening hours as the bar scene became vibrant with a live musician performing jazz-type and soft rock favorites. Also, being a Trump One cardholder as the restaurant is located inside Trump Taj Mahal, I used the $50+ credit toward my dinner and the staff graciously accepted it, so for such a grand meal, I came out a winner. Many happy returns!!
The service was great and the experience was nice. Only thing is for a steakhouse you would expect the perfect steak and it wasn't so perfect. It was still delicious but they over cooked both mine and my boyfriend filet. Other than that the drinks and food were good.
Great experience. Outstanding steaks and sides and cocktails made to perfection. A bit pricey but, definitely worth it. The only down side was the clientele. Took my wife, daughter and her boyfriend out for Valentine's Day. Dress code for this restaurant was stated to be "smart casual" so me and my party dressed appropriately. Everyone else that walked into that restaurant were in sweats, sneakers, t-shirts, shorts, etc. If I had known, we could've dressed comfortably in jeans and collared shirts at worst. I don't care how people dress but, when the restaurant has a dress code, they should either enforce it, or do away with it entirely.
Everything was delicious including the food and drinks. Our waitress Christine was excellent and very informative. Me and my husband went for the first time with another couple. We had the lamb chops, crab cakes and filet mignon all of it was delicious. I would recommend for a special occasion or if you just want to get out to a nice restaurant with great food :). The only thing we didn't like was that you can smell cigarette smoke coming from the casino but they did their best to mask that smell.
On February 5th at 7p.m. our party of 6 arrived for a birthday dinner. We made it a point to let the staff know upon making our reservation, as well as the hostess and the server for the evening that we were there to celebrate our sons birthday. Robert's Steak House was chosen because we typically go to Ruth Chris'. Our son (Joseph) decided this year he would like to give Robert's a try. I must say disappointed does not even begin to explain our feelings by the time we left at the end of the evening.
I ordered my steak for two Medium Rare, the steak was Medium to Medium well. This should have never happened at a steak house of this level. I couldn't wait any longer for the server come back and check on us because the kids were hungry and so we ate it over cooked. Not one employee said Happy Birthday to a single person in our party (Not even when asked). The restaurant was extremely slow due to the upcoming Valentines day weekend and yet for some reason the service was severely lacking. I had to track our server down to ask about dessert and coffee. When I asked about doing something for our sons birthday he stated that "if you order him a dessert I'm sure I can stick a candle in it or something". Needless to say we took our family elsewhere for dessert and coffee. I can not explain to you how disappointing it was to stray from the routine and be treated so poorly while spending even more money. The hostess was rude, the server although very knowledgeable was nonexistent and only had one other table for part of the time that we were there. constantly in the corner chatting with staff.
P.S. Our bill was over $500 for 2 small children, 4 adults, no alchohol, desserts or coffee.
