Roberts Restaurant at the Omni Shoreham
Good for Thanksgiving
I visited Robert's this past Friday evening with a friend. Except for us, the restaurant was completely empty of clientele the entire time we were at table. The menu is easy to understand, and the dishes arrived pretty much as I expected them. The server was an African woman having quiet, gentle manner. She brought everything to the table that we had ordered. I am not sure if she speaks English very well, but her quiet manner added nothing to our dining experience. My only complaint was the bread, served in a steel basket lined with a thick, cotton napkin. The bread was cold and looked as though it had just been removed from a cellophane package. With no other tables to serve except ours, someone should have heated the bread in an oven so that it arrived warm, if not hot. I told this to the server, and she said she would communicate this message to a manager.
I was disappointed that Robert's has gone the way of many restaurants today in that there are no table cloths, just dark brown, woven mats that can be (and should be) sanitized after a table is cleared. Aside from the drab tables, the ambience was sterile, lifeless, and our server did not bring any lively energy to the service. Every now and then the door leading to the Blue Room, located on the other side of the wall, would open and a flood of party noise would gush into Robert's for a few moments. That was the only sign of active life I could discern.
The other matter that was not right was that the plates were not hot. The food was warm, but the soup plates were not hot as the soup was poured into them, and the server did not have to use a cloth to handle the plates containing the main course. The soup was not as hot as it should have been. Again, the dining room was empty except for our table, so there was no excuse that a large number of diners had to be served at that moment.
The dessert was Chocolate Dream, which was a round, disk-shaped, flourless chocolate cake that
We chose Roberts because of it’s beautiful ambience, but we were even more impressed by the quality of the food and our service. We had the perfect evening with friends. Thank you to everyone who made our evening a perfect night!
Buffet chef was excellent AND so nice!
It was all beautiful, relaxing, and fun.
Server was very slow in getting to us throughout the meal. Did not communicate well. Felt ignored
I came back 2 days later because I couldn't stop thinking about the Crab Bisque. It is sooooo good. My god. I might have to travel back to DC so that I can eat there again!
Appropriately paced and attentive service. A great neighborhood location. Thank you!
Slow to seat us, slow to serve, had to order my drink twice, crab cake fair at best (no flavor)
Decent fare, expected better. Cost comparable with similar hotels. Convenient for hotel guests but would likely choose to dine elsewhere in the future.
I MADE A RESERVATION 2 OR 3 WEEKS BEFORE. I WAS REMINDED BY OPEN TABLE A FEW DAYS BEFORE. WHEN WE GET THERE THE RESTAURANT WAS CLOSED!! NOBODY LET ME KNOW. I HAD TO PARK MY CAR FOR $35.00 AND NOT UNTIL I GOT INSIDE THE HOTEL COULD I SEE THE RESTAURANT WAS CLOSED. THAT WAS VERY POOR AND SLOPPY COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN THE RESTAURANT AND OPEN TABLE. I HAD OUT OF TOWN GUESTS LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. I AM OUT $35.00 FOR NOTHING!!!
Great food - server was very personable and knowledgeable. Enjoyed our dinner! Would definitely recommend!
Poor service and overpriced relative to the quality.
We were there on a Sunday evening at 6:30. We were about the only customers there. Fairly limited menu, high priced food and drinks and service that was non-remarkable.
Wonderful ambiance and our waiter was very professional and delightful. I have had brunch at Robert’s in the past and believe there is a slight decline the the food presentation and quality. Establish a dress code because athletic wear and tee shirts detract from your classy surroundings. Please maintain your excellence , if makes you stand apart and above other establishments.
I do not recommend.
The menu on the hotels website and on open table is not the menu at the restaurant. This has been true for months. The fact that Roberts hasn’t bothered to update the website is a clue to the overall level of customer service. When, after watching 4 or 5 restaurant employees chatting with each other in a virtually empty restaurant and failing to get anyone’s attention to order. I walked out
Excellent choice for Mother’s Day brunch🌺
The restaurant is on a great location, easily accessible close to Woodly Park Metro station. It has great views over Rock creek Park, with a very relaxing a quiet atmosphere. I recommend if possible to sit outside to get the more of the location. The food is standard however, we has brunch from the buffet and it's was fine.
The service was nice and friendly.
I was expecting a great meal in this beautiful space, but it was very ordinary. Clearly not a destination experience. If you have such a stunning setting why not bring the food up to that level?
Terrific venue for meeting with business colleagues especially when the event / conference is in the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Tables are set well apart from each other, the ambiance is upscale and classy without being opulent. The service was apprentice without being obtrusive. The food was perfectly prepared and nicely presented without being fussy. Tasty, good size portions and exactly as on the menu.
We always enjoy dining at Roberts Restaurant at the Omni Shoreham. They use top quality ingredients prepared in a range of menu choices -- from traditional to new and innovative. There are choices for every type of guest. Our family especially appreciates their long-term commitment to safe (absolutely no contamination) gluten-free food. This was our original reason for selecting the Omni for family dining events. We now return for the quality and experience.
We enjoyed Easter Brunch at Roberts. It was expensive but worth every penny. The food was amazing - raw bar, sushi, carving station, charcuterie and everything in between. Service was fantastic. Great mimosas and absolutely beautiful environment. You can walk out on the terrace and out into the beautiful garden which is gorgeous. I could have spent the whole day there!
Good food and ambience. Waitstaff fair. Hostess pleasant and accommodating.
Bring is a little too expensive
Overpriced and limited choices
Its adequate for hotel food. The only restaurant in the hotel.
Typical rigid hotel service as they aren’t happy to accommodate diner requests.
I took my niece here for diner. The staff were very attentive, ambiance is elegant and quiet so easy to converse.
We both had the Burrata salad which was delicious - tomatoes were flavorful and the Burrata melted in your mouth. Both of our dinners, the beef shank and the salmon, were well prepared and delicious!
A very nice experience!
They cannot handle large groups. Horrible service. Took 1 hour to get a salad.
Dinner at Robert's Restaurant at the Omni Shoreham was good but not excellent. The food, service and ambiance were all good. The restaurant is not as well separated from the lobby as we would have hoped. For a hotel restaurant, Roberts's is very good.
Hosted a business dinner at Robert’s and experienced highs and lows. We had a great table at the back which was quiet and conducive for discussion. The seafood and vegetation meals were excellent, but the beef was disappointing, and it the most expensive item on the menu. The wine list was good and well priced- but the bar closed so my guests could not get their after drinks. The wait staff were friendly but incompetent and slow. For example, they opened the wine and started pouring before I could taste it. The white wine was left out on the counter without and ice buckets. They changed the vintage year in the second bottle without informing me. It took a long time to get the check but fortunately for me, I was staying in the Omni and did not have far to go. They can and should do better.
Wait staff taking order had no understanding of the menu. Slow, unresponsive service. Food was ok, nothing special. Poor experience given the price and location - I expected much more. The local restaurants were far superior.
The perfect place for a relaxed dinner after a long conference day. Elegant decor without excessive formality. Courteous staff's descriptions of dishes were right on target. Roasted leek did not overpower cauliflower in creamy soup. Various and affordable options for sparkling wines by the glass. Multiple seating arrangements available such as booths and chairs with straight backs to meet different needs and preferences.
Had a reservation for 5pm, we actually got seated early, which was really nice. The staff was wonderful from the time we were greeted until the time we left the restaurant. The food was amazing! The crab bisque was loaded with lump crab, and truly was wonderful! Everything we had for dinner was truly really good. The ambiance of the entire hotel is just awesome! The only drawback, there was a dance convention being held at the hotel, so there was an over abundance of people there, lounging in hallways and around the conference rooms, and kids running around. However, it did snow while we were there, and the hotel provided sleds for the kids, there was a hill next to the hotel that the kids were having a great time sledding down.
A beautiful Christmas morning breakfast with my family. Food and service was awesome and the restaurant was decorated so beautifully for the holiday.
The chairs are soft and too low, better for cocktails around a coffee table. Service polite ok, Caesar chcicken salad boring, anchovies good but chicken cooked too long.
Great service, very quite and comfortable restaurant perfect for a date. Really enjoyed it.
Food was delicious and we'll prepared at the Thanksgiving buffet. Friendly and efficient Service. Piano music very tasteful
Having enjoyed Thanksgiving feasts in Lake Placid NY, Philadelphia PA, Stowe VT, Nantucket MA, Washington DC, Annapolis MD, and too many other locations to list - we found the quality of the food, the vast selection of the menu, the beautiful presentation, and the beauty of the setting of Robert's Restaurant in the historic Omni Shoreham unmatched. The warmth of the extraordinary staff - from the doorman, the hosts & hostess, the dining room staff, and the piano player made it a very special experience. And, to observe the head Chef checking every detail and leading his team as they manned the many long tables filled with sumptuous offerings - one knew that what seemed so easy was the result of great attention to detail.
