Robert's Maine Grill Ratings and Reviews
Have wanted to try this place for some time.
Interior is very nicely decorated with numerous paintings on the walls. We shared a Caesar salad and fried cheese curds. Lettuce was fresh and crisp but there was too much dressing. The cheese curds were excellent and came with heated tomato dipping sauce.
I had the salmon and it was really good. My wife got the breaded haddock but it was disappointing. Too much breading and fish was dry.
My husband brought me for my birthday. He enjoyed his seafood appetizer and entree and we both really liked the pot roast poutine. The buttermilk fried chicken and mashed potatoes was nothing great. Dry chicken and so so potatoes. Our server was attentive and friendly but the bar took quite a while to make our drinks each time. For the money I expected better.
Seated quickly with reservations. Full house but the waitress was timely, efficient and friendly. Lunch was very good with all of the dishes excellent in all aspects. Food is always great and they are always busy. Use a reservation and you will avoid any wait.
We had a great time there, as always. We drove up from Massachusetts to see my mom (who lives in Kittery) and take a small family group out to lunch. My wife and I virtually always choose Robert's. This time, we had a very friendly waitperson who was very attentive about one person's food allergies; good food choices; casual atmosphere overall. Again, great time. Robert's is a favorite of ours.
Nice food. We were not able to get the meal that was offered for the charity benefit - it was sold out. Our waitperson was not particularly friendly. We felt a bit rushed. We will return because our first visit was better. The lobster sliders are delicious.
I have been to many Michelin rated restaurants (Elevan Madison Park, Per Se, French Laundry, among many more) and the Haddock cooked with the Chefs homemade butter was the best fish I have ever had. It was so good that my girlfriend, who hates fish, was licking the plate when she was done eating it. The other dishes were outstanding. The ambience was great. The Chef cooks in front of you, serves you, and talks about how he goes about choosing the ingredients. Definitely worth the visit for any foodie. I plan to return.
We really enjoyed the evening. The highlight was actually the service, very friendly, prompt, accurate and enjoyable. Oysters were a hit. Two of our group had lobster rolls and they seemed, frankly, a bit skimpy (we're from Maine, the two who had lobster rolls aren't). I had the haddock which was just fine, but nothing to fall over and die for. But, don't want to be picky, the food was tasty, nicely portioned and fairly priced.
We'd go again.
