Roberts Crossing was originally built in 1916 as "The Query Store". Sometime in the 1940's it became known as the Roberts Store, because of its location in the Roberts Community. The current chapter began in 2009 as the idea of establishing the Roberts Crossing Restaurant by the Glodt Family. The Glodt family began in the restaurant business in the Portland area in the late 1930's. John Glodt opened his first restaurant in Salem, "The Cupboard Cafe", downtown in 1946. The legacy continued with Jim Glodt opening J's Restaurant in Woodburn in 1967 and continues with J's Cafe in Monmouth. Now Jeff & Kelly wish to continue the next chapter with a combination of family recipes, hand made food, and seasonal fare. Much of the original building has been preserved and we invite you to come visit and enjoy how the histories have come together.

Roberts Crossing was an excellent location for our group of three couples to meet and get to know each other. The ambiance was perfect for visiting and talking, the service was very attentive and responsive to requests, and the food was well prepared and presented nicely. I recommend Roberts Crossing highly as a place for good food, good service and great comfort in dining with friends and loved ones.

Great food. Service was exceptional. Prices comparable to other fine dining restaurants. Unfortunately we went on a Friday night and the noise level was very loud. We were told that on a week night it's actually very quiet and romantic. Overall, we had a great experience.

Very welcoming and comfortable establishment. We asked for and received a quiet corner table. Service was prompt and attentive. Drinks and appetizer arrived expeditiously. Food arrived on time. The halibut special was tempting and delicious. All in all a most enjoyable dinner occasion and environment.

The cuisine was as good or better than we have had in Portland, San Francisco or Seattle! One tends to forget about Roberts Crossing because it's tucked away out on South River Road. No need to go to Portland to have an excellent meal with service to match. Our server even sang Happy Birthday to my wife when she brought her complimentary dessert! We will definately return again soon.

4 out of the 5 of us had never eaten at Roberts Crossing. We all enjoyed it. Except for the meatloaf, the other 4 of us very much enjoyed the food. We enjoyed the venue and our service was outstanding. We will be back.

Delicious food, chilly by the door

I had the scallops, which were cooked just right -- nicely moist and tender. My partner in crime also enjoyed his meal.

The only detraction was in being seated close to the entryway. I had to put my jacket over my shoulders (was already wearing a sweater over a nice warm shirt) so I wouldn't shiver. I was hoping for a nice cozy table, especially as we had made reservations. I wasn't cozy.

Also, waitstaff would do well to not call people if mixed gender "guys." It's not courteous nor professional.

We came for our anniversary and couldn't have been happier. We had a very nice table. Loved the twinkle lights in the olive tree in the corner. My husband loved the oysters and the side salad with walnuts and craisins was amazing. The steak was also nice and tender and the halibut was yummy .

After having been here for my company dinner last month, my husband and I took his parents here for dinner to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday. Just like last time, the service was wonderful and the food was delicious. I had the parmesan encrusted halibut with pesto risotto and it was fantastic and my mother-in-law loved her filet mignon. My husband thought his chicken tasted a little dry but it seemed fine when I tried a bite, and my father-in-law felt the same about his pork chop. Overall we will definitely be coming back!

My husband and I went here for our anniversary. I LOVED the ambiance and the fact that it was in a historic building. I had the kobe beef and it was FANTASTIC! The wine list was a nice mix and we had a wonderful Pinot Noir that paired nicely with the beef. Our dessert was an awesome fudge brownie with coconut ice cream. Our server was able to answer questions, not only about the menu, but about the building as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and will be back.

Didn’t have great service - we sat for 20 min and then had to ask to be served before we were addressed. The waitress was then helpful but seemed very limited in time. Never stood at our table long enough for us to actually ask for everything we needed. Food was overall very good as usual, one member of our group was not a fan of the curry pasta

The food was delicious and perfectly prepared. Our waitress was outstanding. The manager came over twice just to make sure everything was up to par. The whole staff worked together really well and seemed to manage all the tables with extra care and consideration you get at nicer establishments. We drove an hour to get there and it was more than worth it. We will most definitely go back as soon as possible!

The food was fantastic! The wait staff was friendly. We were there on a Sunday evening & they close at 8. Felt like the bussers & waitress were anxious to close for the evening. Avg cost worked out to be $25 per person. This is NOT a burger joint or a quick bite to eat. It is a sit down, take your time, have a great conversation with a good meal kind of place.

This was my first visit here since Wild Pear moved. Too bad! My two sisters were with me (one from Alaska) so we were very pleased that we could visit without interfering with other people around us. The service was excellent. All three of us chose the American Kobe steak, but preferred the mashed potatoes over fingerlings and the blue cheese butter over the garlic butter. Our waitress, informed us that the chef would be glad to prepare it the "cap steak" way, but with the Kobe instead. Wonderful! All three steaks were cooked to perfection (one rare and 2 medium-rare). This was the best meal I have enjoyed in many months of dining out. It was just a little spendy when you add on a salad or soup, but, believe me- well worth the price! Definitely up for a return visit.

Lovely out of the way location with an autumn setting. Dining room on the right side has nice romantic lighting for after hours. Our server was pleasant and helpful with the menu options and the food was well prepared and very good. The bar looked cozy but we had our cocktails at the table. We had a 5 PM reservation so we chose a table by the window to enjoy the late day sunshine. Yes, we will go back and we will tell our friends about this place.
