Jumbo Shrimps, fresh sea scallops, fresh lobster meat, served in our classic risotto.
Fresh lobster meat, scallops and jumbo shrimp in a spicy marinara served over linguini.
Vine ripened tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, basil.
Awful . Had sunset special eggplant was maybe 1/4 inch slice . One slice I’m not kidding here . Wrote a message they responded don’t come back here . Awful immature way to handle complaints. Don’t go I promise you will regret it . Too many other restaurants to enjoy. Take a look on Yelp reviews of the hidden ones . Scroll way down page you’ll see what I’m talking about
We were seated promptly and cordially at a table on the porch. Our server, Christina was pleasant and as she introduced herself, told us that we should expect to wait a bit for our food and drinks. With a "full house" and minimal staff, they were doing the best they could. We did wait but it was a pleasant night and Christina made things work. Overall, we liked Roberto's and would return. The menu was varied and reasonably priced. I hope Christina and the rest of the staff were compensated appropriately.
The menus is very large with excellent choices. Food was very tasty and presented very nicely. This restaurant was full to capacity. Consequently, food was slow arriving to the table. All in all, we will definitely go again, happily!
There was in adequate staff for the restaurant. We waited over 20 minutes and no one came to our table. We finally just left. Be prepared to wait for at least an hour for your food if you were lucky. I would never come back here.
Food, atmosphere and service exceptional. Would recommend.
The food was good, but they were so understaffed it took 90 minutes to arrive. At that point we were so hungry we just wolfed it down.
OMG, we had an email-confirmed reservation for October 11 at 7pm. When we got there, the restaurant was closed and dark. They had our email and could have told us they were closed, but they didn't. What gives??
Yes understaffed and we waited over an hour to have our food
Existing staff very pleasant
Good was awful! Meatballs were hard and salty. Eggplant was tough and dry! Chicken cacciatore had watery sauce and fat on chicken.the bread was great!
Good good horrible service. I understand that all service industries are short staffed; but for the server to criticize the hostess is unprofessional to say the least. Our server, Jen, told us that she told the hostess not to seat anymore people in her section, that included us, made us feel
unwanted and uncomfortable. She was relentless at openly crucifying the hostess and saying how stupid she was. This was one of the most unprofessional and uncomfortable situations we’ve ever encountered.
Service was horrendous. And if you complain, you are met with indifference. Mussels were bland as well. Would not waste my time on this place.
Our waitress was fantastic! She was personable, knowledgeable and lovely.
The food, however, was not good. Roberto’s needs to hire an authentic Italian chef.
Sat at the bar and was happy with service and food. Would definitely go back.
The service was terrible - we ended up walking out
Good was subpar! We watched tables get up and leave . 20 minutes to get our first drink . 1 hour to get our food . They messed up our simple order and did not do anything to correct it
Excellent all around
Arrived early and were immediately seated. Service was very good, attentive waitperson, pleasant, knew the wine menu well, made solid dinner and dessert recommendations.
Would highly recommend.
They need another bartender, one bartender for a restaurant that size makes everyone wait far to long for their beverage. You can tell they are struggling with staffing. Food is great and again slow. We love the restaurant, just wish they could figure out how to speed up this the process.
We make a reservation and get there on time. The hostess greets us and says it could at least up to a hour for food to come out. So were there at 6:45 reservation and at that point where were we going to go elsewhere, but ogunquit was very busy saturday, so we decided to stay. Next person in line is our waitress who tells us the food could take 1 1/2 to 2 hours to come out !!!. And she pressed us to order our food now. She had just dropped off the menus, we needed a few mins to look over the menu. She then said she "warned " us that we should of ordered right away ?? Saying that to the paying customer ?? Really !!. She proceeded to take our drink order and then as she was " passing by us " she said the drinks would be out in " 15 minutes ". That was it for us, we immediately left our table and informed the hostess that we were leaving. I really hope this makes the review on line, but I'm sure this will never be seen. It was a total " cluster " experience !! I'm just being nice using the word cluster !! Horrendous experience !!!
As usual, great food and service in spite of short staffing. Roberto's cioppino was great. Glad to see it back on the menu.
Terrible slow uncaring service!
Great food! Kitchen was slow, but we were prepared for that, so wasn’t bad at all.
Second time dining here and always a good time. The veal piccata was fork tender and rack of lamb superb. Our server, Jennifer was excellent as was all the staff.
Our dinner on 9/22 was excellent. Our server: Duhaney took such good care of us and the whole experience made our vacation.
Our dinner was fabulous! The kitchen was backed up but they let us know the ETA before we even sat down and brought us our drinks and salads very quickly. Lovely meal, very communicative and kind. Thank you!
Food was good. As with most restaurants in the area, they were short staffed and it took longer for our meals to come out but, the staff made sure we had bread drinks while we waited. Overall a good experience.
Average wait for food once seat was 2.5 hours. Staff was working hard to keep people happy but one chef in a full restaurant was a recipe for terrible dining. Food was subpar! This is a shame for a Long standing favorite. Unlike other locations, appears management has gone for revenue verse quality - Don’t go!!
We were seated in back room. It was very noisy and the service was very slow. We are there two nights before and everything was wonderful.
This is a superb restaurant with a large menu. My wife and I have eaten here many times over many years. It is clearly one of the best restaurants in southern Maine.
First time there. Place was extremely busy which I always take as a good sign. Service was excellent. Food was a bit slow getting to us but based on the amount of people there, and the fact that I'm sure they are short staffed, I was expecting to have to wait. The food was a bit disappointing. Except for the olive oil dipping sauce which was absolutely phenomenal that I'd buy that by the jar if I could. The meal itself was a bit bland. Definitely under seasoned and lacked personality. That may be due to the fact that they were so busy. Or perhaps they've changed chef's recently. I'd give it another try before writing them off.
Our waitress was outstanding!
45 minute wait for the food to be served. We were tokd that in advance. Clams casino and wedge salad were not as good as i would have liked. Seafood risotto was filled with seafood and was delicious. Overall a good restaurant.
made a reservation 3 weeks ago, arrive 5 minutes early. hostess appears overwhelmed and unhappy doing her job, not the type of person you would want to be the first face customers interact with at your restaurant. seated outside as we requested, but then waited for 20 minutes and the waiter was so busy he can't even take our drink order. clearly not enough staff to handle the number of patrons, so not the waiter's fault. we walked out, very disappointing because we were looking forward to dining at Roberto's.
valet parking: excellent ... reservation time: excellent ... service: poor (our meals took about an hour and a half to be served from time of order) ... food: very good ... note - our experience at other restaurants in the area on this trip served the food in less than a half hour.
We turned up for our reservation and it was immediately clear they were understaffed and overwhelmed. We had to find our own table and then waited 25 minutes during which time nobody attended to us so we politely left. A shame because the menu looked appealing but the service was non existent.
I gave Roberto's a 3 based on the service. If I based it solely on service it would be a one, based solely on food it would have been a 5.
We were a party of 4 with a 5:45 reservation. We were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. The waitress came to the table within 5 minutes, asked if we were ready to order, having just received the menus, we were not. She came back near 20 minutes later! We ordered, so this was now a little after 6 PM. Our food arrived in pieces, first 2 entrees. 5 minutes later the other 2, this was near 6:45. After finishing our meal we waited sometime for the waitress to show up to ask if we were ready for desert and or coffee. This was around 7:45. We asked for the desert choices, she said she would give us a minute or two to decide. Almost 15 minutes later she came back, we started to order, she said she had to get her pad and left saying she would be right back. We then waited and watched her run all over the restaurant taking orders, delivering food and checks and not re-appearing at our table. Finally after nearly 20-25 minutes of watching this, I got up and stopped her and asked for our check. We then paid and left!
The food is excellent, but the service is not. It is a shame that a restaurant with such a good menu, prepared and presented excellently is subject to such abysmal service. I blame it mostly on the management as instead of having the wait staff handling sections, they give assign the staff to tables all over the premises. The restaurant is divided into several rooms, as well as 2 outdoor seating areas, none of which is an easy access from the other, thus making it near impossible for the wait staff to efficiently service the tables.
If I based my review solely on the food, I would heartily recommend Roberto's, but if you are looking for a relaxing, enjoyable night out it might not be the place. Thus the 3 in a restaurant which I otherwise would easily give a 5!
Great dining experience. Food and service was excellent.
My husband ordered lobster bisque to start and a haddock entree, both of which he enjoyed. I ordered Italian food as it is an Italian restaurant. I started with bruschetta, which was quite tasty but difficult to eat. The bread slices were too large and had too much topping to pick up to eat, and it was difficult to cut. For my entree, I ordered cheese-stuffed manicotti. I was very happy with the amount of cheese stuffing but found the marinara sauce to be thin and in need of more seasoning.
We were seated in a small room with a number of tables close together, which was a little uncomfortable in the time of Covid, but the biggest problem was the noise level. It was quite loud with every table filled.
Overall, it was a bit disappointing, but I would go again with certain groups.
All of our entrees were exceptional, Seafood Risotto, Lobster Ravioli, Seafood Fra Diavlo.
The service we perfect, engaging, timely, and informative.
The one negative was that the blueberry pie dessert was about half the size that I remember it from previous times. Not sure what happened there. It tasted great but just left me wanting more and didn't feel like I got my money's worth.
Overall a great meal with a somewhat disappointing ending.
Food and service was good would go back and I’m picky
