Belfast Bay Lobster Red Ale, Maine
Our dinner was fabulous! The kitchen was backed up but they let us know the ETA before we even sat down and brought us our drinks and salads very quickly. Lovely meal, very communicative and kind. Thank you!
Average wait for food once seat was 2.5 hours. Staff was working hard to keep people happy but one chef in a full restaurant was a recipe for terrible dining. Food was subpar! This is a shame for a Long standing favorite. Unlike other locations, appears management has gone for revenue verse quality - Don’t go!!
We were seated in back room. It was very noisy and the service was very slow. We are there two nights before and everything was wonderful.
This is a superb restaurant with a large menu. My wife and I have eaten here many times over many years. It is clearly one of the best restaurants in southern Maine.
First time there. Place was extremely busy which I always take as a good sign. Service was excellent. Food was a bit slow getting to us but based on the amount of people there, and the fact that I'm sure they are short staffed, I was expecting to have to wait. The food was a bit disappointing. Except for the olive oil dipping sauce which was absolutely phenomenal that I'd buy that by the jar if I could. The meal itself was a bit bland. Definitely under seasoned and lacked personality. That may be due to the fact that they were so busy. Or perhaps they've changed chef's recently. I'd give it another try before writing them off.
Our waitress was outstanding!
45 minute wait for the food to be served. We were tokd that in advance. Clams casino and wedge salad were not as good as i would have liked. Seafood risotto was filled with seafood and was delicious. Overall a good restaurant.
valet parking: excellent ... reservation time: excellent ... service: poor (our meals took about an hour and a half to be served from time of order) ... food: very good ... note - our experience at other restaurants in the area on this trip served the food in less than a half hour.
made a reservation 3 weeks ago, arrive 5 minutes early. hostess appears overwhelmed and unhappy doing her job, not the type of person you would want to be the first face customers interact with at your restaurant. seated outside as we requested, but then waited for 20 minutes and the waiter was so busy he can't even take our drink order. clearly not enough staff to handle the number of patrons, so not the waiter's fault. we walked out, very disappointing because we were looking forward to dining at Roberto's.
We turned up for our reservation and it was immediately clear they were understaffed and overwhelmed. We had to find our own table and then waited 25 minutes during which time nobody attended to us so we politely left. A shame because the menu looked appealing but the service was non existent.
I gave Roberto's a 3 based on the service. If I based it solely on service it would be a one, based solely on food it would have been a 5.
We were a party of 4 with a 5:45 reservation. We were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. The waitress came to the table within 5 minutes, asked if we were ready to order, having just received the menus, we were not. She came back near 20 minutes later! We ordered, so this was now a little after 6 PM. Our food arrived in pieces, first 2 entrees. 5 minutes later the other 2, this was near 6:45. After finishing our meal we waited sometime for the waitress to show up to ask if we were ready for desert and or coffee. This was around 7:45. We asked for the desert choices, she said she would give us a minute or two to decide. Almost 15 minutes later she came back, we started to order, she said she had to get her pad and left saying she would be right back. We then waited and watched her run all over the restaurant taking orders, delivering food and checks and not re-appearing at our table. Finally after nearly 20-25 minutes of watching this, I got up and stopped her and asked for our check. We then paid and left!
The food is excellent, but the service is not. It is a shame that a restaurant with such a good menu, prepared and presented excellently is subject to such abysmal service. I blame it mostly on the management as instead of having the wait staff handling sections, they give assign the staff to tables all over the premises. The restaurant is divided into several rooms, as well as 2 outdoor seating areas, none of which is an easy access from the other, thus making it near impossible for the wait staff to efficiently service the tables.
If I based my review solely on the food, I would heartily recommend Roberto's, but if you are looking for a relaxing, enjoyable night out it might not be the place. Thus the 3 in a restaurant which I otherwise would easily give a 5!
Great dining experience. Food and service was excellent.
My husband ordered lobster bisque to start and a haddock entree, both of which he enjoyed. I ordered Italian food as it is an Italian restaurant. I started with bruschetta, which was quite tasty but difficult to eat. The bread slices were too large and had too much topping to pick up to eat, and it was difficult to cut. For my entree, I ordered cheese-stuffed manicotti. I was very happy with the amount of cheese stuffing but found the marinara sauce to be thin and in need of more seasoning.
We were seated in a small room with a number of tables close together, which was a little uncomfortable in the time of Covid, but the biggest problem was the noise level. It was quite loud with every table filled.
Overall, it was a bit disappointing, but I would go again with certain groups.
All of our entrees were exceptional, Seafood Risotto, Lobster Ravioli, Seafood Fra Diavlo.
The service we perfect, engaging, timely, and informative.
The one negative was that the blueberry pie dessert was about half the size that I remember it from previous times. Not sure what happened there. It tasted great but just left me wanting more and didn't feel like I got my money's worth.
Overall a great meal with a somewhat disappointing ending.
Food and service was good would go back and I’m picky
Great food, service was slower than usual but I guess to be expected given the staffing struggles most businesses are experiencing.
Food was very good and our waitress was EXCELLENT!
Short ribs and risotto -- to die for! Service was great! Ended it off with some creme brulee and chocolate cake -- NEVER DISAPPOINTED at Roberto's!
Beautiful restaurant with a great menu. Great selections at reasonable prices. The food and service are top notch.
This is real Italian food. Great dishes and gf modifications. I recommend gf crackers or rolls. Desserts were fabulous. We can’t wait to return.
Despite the restaurant being crazy busy, our server was cheerful and prompt (though it took a few tries to get silverware). The food was great - a delicious seafood diavolo and seafood scampi. Generous portions, flavorful sauces. The scallops in particular were exceptional.
The kitchen seemed overwhelmed so dishes were slow coming out.
Food is always delicious
One of my favorites, great food and service!!
This place was awesome. The drinks were great and they even had Wild Turkey whiskey for Manhattan. My wife loved her Martini and the food was excellent. Well worth the money and top notch hospitality...
Rick and Shelly from Hollis, NH
Excellent service and delicious food!
Swordfish was amazing
Lobster bisque as nice pieces of lobster and the tiramisu was worth the calories
Chicken Marsala was swimming in a very runny sauce. Chicken was over cooked and tasteless. Even the pasta was poorly prepared. We won’t be back!
We had a wonderful experience dining at Roberto's for dinner.
Greg was our waiter and he was excellent and the food was outstanding.
Under staffed and nobody seemed to know what to do. Long wait to be seated even though we had reservations. Even longer wait to get a beverage. Once served every thing was delicious but nobody stopped back to ask how it was or if we would like anything more. Management needs to limit capacity to the extent of their staff’s abilities.
Food was excellent. Bar back/bartender was horrible-poor customer service and looked like he was high on something (we had been waiting, seated at bar and asked him for a menu and he rudely said another person will help you as he just stared at dirty wine/cocktail glasses—annoyed we simply asked for a menu). Other bartender was excellent but stretched thin.
Seafood cannollinni was amazing and salad with grilled chicken super fresh!
Food did not seem as good as before. Service was very good. We were near a table with a couple of noisy, out of control children.
Delicious as always!
Sat at the bar, excellent service and outstanding food
Noisy and expensive but food and service very good.
Birthday Dinner. I understand the restaurant was short staffed. Drinks and bread arrived fine. Long wait for dinner 1 hour. Pasta had no flavor, shrimp seemed to be just thrown in. They were not cooked in butter and garlic. Meal was ok. May not go back when we visit next summer. Hope it was just a bad night for chef or cooks.
Our waitress was in the wrong profession. She was clueless and she gave awful service.
Greg our server was exceptional! He MADE our dining experience
We were told we couldn’t order apps and then dinner, had to order everything at once. Then we had to ask for bread and refills of water. Finally when we got dinner, we were never offered cheese. I would not recommend it at all
