The food and servers were great. The hostess gave us attitude from the start which made our whole party uncomfortable. Not sure why but there was an argument that came out of nowhere regarding her attitude. She later apologized which is find but a few members from the party were in a bad mood during half of their meal.
I showed up to the reservation to be told by the hostess that we had to sit at the bar because no tables were available. I looked over and saw three 2-seater open tables that were available. She explained that they had a lot of walk-in customers, to which I said yes but I have a reservation. Begrudging after making us wait 15 minutes finally gave us a table.
Food is always great, service is good, noise level is very high.
A great experience. Every dish was made meticulously and had tremendous flavor.
Great happy hour and our host was very accommodating to a last minute change in our party as well as a request to sit at a table instead of at the counter.
Great food. Quite noisy guests though. Everything else was great
Food is always good but hostess had an attitude privkem
I frequent Robata for their amazing happy hour prices and the fact that they have really great quality of fish!
This used to be our local favorite restaurant, but it's not what it used to be. The food is still good, but not as spectacular as in the past. More importantly, what used to be a neighborhood gem has turned into a trendy factory-like spot. In the past, it was pleasant and unpretentious, but that seems to have changed.
We recently had dinner there and the music was so loud, we couldn't hear each other speak (nor could our server hear our order). We politely asked the server and then the manager if they could turn the music down just a bit and his response was so incredibly smug and obnoxious, we were shocked. I understand if our request cannot be accommodated, but there's no reason to be so unbelievably rude in response to a completely polite and perfectly reasonable request. My family and i have probably dined there a hundred times since it opened, so this was so disappointing. It also took about an hour for our food to come out (which never used to happen), so he must not be doing such a great job managing...
The food is good, but they just ignored our reservation. When we arrived we were told, extremely rudely, that we could either sit at the bar, or wait "a long time." We had a reservation for a table specifically, but were told that they were full and didn't know what their wait would be. There was another family (of 4) waiting as well for their table, and had already been waiting 30 min when we arrived. We were told the issue was that they had a party of 10 coming in, and needed to save tables for them. By the time we ate and left (about an hour and change) this 10 top had not arrived, and they had sat other people at tables that had opened up.
Now, I know sometimes things don't go as planned, but had the hostess just said, "we're sorry we are running behind on tables, would it be okay to seat you at the bar" or something to that extent, it would not have been a big deal. Instead, we were treated rudely, and told "you can either sit at the bar or wait a good long time." When we said that we had a reservation for a table, the hostess said "yeah, other people do too, I don't have a table so you can sit at the bar, wait, or whatever you want." We were really taken aback by her attitude.
Not sure if this is typical here or not, but my impression is that they are too disorganized to maintain their reservation list.
Super noisy, but OH SO DELICIOUS! Attentive and friendly staff, great food. Definitely recommend.
We reserved a table for 2 for a birthday dinner, yet the host sat us at the sushi bar and did not even tell our server it was a birthday so we were not even offered dessert. (Also, our server did not come to our table once not even to intro herself or ask if we needed anything, the dinner entrees came out before the appetizers, and it was a very slow empty night.) When we told the host all of this after we got the check, she said “what do you want me to do about it now?” So we asked for the managers, who just gave us as excuse that the kitchen was busy and told us to have a good night! It was shocking, definitely 1/5 star service!
Fun, great food, nice atmo!
Noisy, cold, with decent food but not great food.
It's always a treat to eat on the patio here so tasty!
The food was delicious, the service was fantastic.
Chef Francisco one of the best.
Our night was fantastic.
The food here was just great, and we had excellent service. As a group of ladies over 50 trying to have a celebratory dinner, the loud booming music was a turn off.
Food was not as amazing as I thought it would be. Server's seemed like they were new and were just mediocre. Had to ask for a refill on a hot water three times, one time they even took the cup but never brought it back.
Robata is my favorite sushi restaurant in town! Delicious food, great service and fun atmosphere.
Just a quick note to mention that the music was unusually LOUD this visit. They may want to tone it down a couple of notches. I was having a hard time hearing my date. Other than that, food was excellent, per usual. Great value, too. Thanks!
All was great. Music is a little too loud
Perfect thank you
I love this place...Eat here once a week...That's all!!!
I love Jinya!!! One of my favorite places... My only negative comment is on regards of the music level.. way high to me. Everything else is just perfect.
the hostess at the reception was not really smiling and kind it was very cold in the restaurant the food is against always very good !
This restaurant is our favorite. They always serve delicious food and their service is friendly!
We recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Our favorite place to eat in LA. Every time, we have an amazing experience. The food is ridiculously good and the service is always on point.
LOVE Robata Jinya! YUM! Happy Hour is just the best value.
They messed up our order after multiple times of trying to correct them and did not even apologize
Great robata, highly recommend fish, veggies and also the rice balls.
By far, one of the best experiences ever. OpenTable gave us the chance to wait under 3 mins while they prepped our table.
Tristan was absolutely a gem! He was wonderful and recommended lots of goodies! The food was heaven. Best crispy rice spicy tuna ever!! :)
Amazing food, great service. Considering going back for a second night in a row...
One of the best Japanese restaurants in Los Angeles.
Love this place. Service is great, you're not waiting long for your food, and the choices are great. One of our faves.
Always great. We are neighborhood regulars!
Amazing experience! Looking forward to come back soon!
Great vibes, great decor, great food!
Incredible food at a good price.
The menu is diverse, however the food was hit & miss. Steak & chicken skewers were chewy. Peppers were great excellent as was the bread pudding. Eelskewer was mushy.
Noise level of diners & added music makes conversation difficult.
Server was attentive and described food items very well. Wait for sushi items took a long time compared to other items.
The wait was long for table seating for 3 people even though we had a reservation.
Great happy hour prices and their ramen and yakitori was outstanding!
