We had a very good experience at this restaurant a couple of years ago. It seems that since then the menu and the food itself has taken a downturn. This is a very expensive restaurant that had some of the best food in the Houston area. At this point I don't feel the quality of the food is anywhere near what it was then or what it should be now for the price. We've gone from recommending this restaurant to friends, to hoping none of them took that recommendation recently. Truly unfortunate.
Quality was outstanding. Linz meat terrific. Great service and attention to detail. Not the restaurants fault but there was a group o 6 adults with 3 children ages ~ 3, 2 and 1 1/2 that were not only distracting but VERY annoying. Get a baby sitter rather than trying to ruin other dining experience.
A bit more lighting would be helpful.
Bartender Travis was great. Definitely go back.
Service is always outstanding, food good, unique buffet style with individual main course and family sides is a great format. The only challenge is not getting full on the buffet before the main course.
Thanksgiving dinner. Every bite was delicious. Beautifully prepared and presented. Service was fabulous. Absolutely wonderful experience as always !
Food and service was amazing. Would have been better if there weren’t unruly children running around the restaurant playing chase.
Tiffany Ladarola provided was very accommodating and nice.
Great food, service by general manager and valet boy could be better (smile y’all!!!)
We had a great dinner date (which we never get to do with 4 kids at home...it’s been years!) great atmosphere, quiet, romantic and music was perfect. We enjoyed the food although it was a bit overpriced. Our server Alexandra was amazing! She gave us suggestions from the cocktails to dessert. Everything was perfect!
Can't wait to dine in again! The new menu items are delicious... Great service. Definitely enjoyed a great dinner with my family.
Understanding this is a steak house - least expensive steak was $47 young daughter would have preferred chicken - no chicken dishes on the menu apparently it's a new menu & chicken was taken off the menu several weeks ago. Bread basket was wonderful - side dishes were really good except the portions for mashed potatoes were exceptionally small. The Sea Bass was slightly larger than a domino piece sadly they were overly cooked and hard on one side which eliminated the buttery flaky texture & it required that I use a knife - tasted to have been one day over the fresh date and had a fishy taste. It was not edible and I wound up feeling slightly nauseated next morning. The wine we selected by the bottle was not available. Robard's was on my Bucket List having heard great reviews from restaurant owners, friends and Tanji Patton. We reserved a hotel just for this dinner - a celebration of my life 1 year ago almost died from a stroke. The celebration wasn't so happy for me with dinner - I can't imagine Howard Hughes would have been pleased. Drinks were amazing - now I have to buy my daughter an espresso machine. We will not return. Not worth the $360.

We made it very clear how we wanted our steak cooked; medium plus. It our understanding, as was our servers understanding, medium plus means hot pink center. When the $62 filet mignon showed up at our table it was practically raw and resting in a pool of blood. When the manager came to our table he mangled the filet to find it was rare.
From that point forward they could not wait to get us out of the restaurant. They didnt even wrap our unfinished bottle of wine. What an overall disappointment. The backwaiter was not refilling our water and wine as needed and he took my butter-covered bread knife off my plate and placed on the table resulting in a blobsmear of butter on my side of the table.
With exception to our server, this experience at Robards could not have been worse.
In general, restaurants just do not seem to care about repeat business. Based on how quiet Robards was this Friday evening, they should consider making some changes
Great food. Waitress was waiting on too many tables to spend much time on us. Had to ask a few times for things. Water glasses filled late but for the price point should have been better service.
The food was wonderful, as was our server for dinner. His suggestions were perfect, he was attentive and friendly while still giving us the space to enjoy our anniversary dinner. The only disappointment was our time in the bar before our meal. We wanted to sit and have a drink and an appetizer before our meal. It took us 15 minutes to even order a drink, despite there being 3 bartenders. We weren’t even greeted until we had to flag one of them down, and then had to do it again to get a menu. The bar experience was disappointing, but the restaurant dining experience was fantastic. It isn’t somewhere I would want to bring my business clients unless the bar service improves, but the restaurant experience was very nice.
Fabulous service and a spectacular evening. Great Oysters served with great style. Steak was very tasty!
This is our second time visiting Robard's, and both times the restaurant has amazed us with the service and food. Our waiter, Jeff, was fantastic throughout the dinner with recommendations and making sure that the pace for our meal was perfectly executed to not be rushed, but also not be waiting around for too long.
Their craft cocktails are also very good, my wife loved her cucumber martini, while I really enjoyed their new "Elvis" Old Fashioned.
Will have to come back and visit again soon to try their updated menu items.
This was our first visit to Robards. It was fantastic. Our server Ashley was excellent; she had a great attitude and allowed us to take our time. Food was perfectly prepared.
This was our third visit to Robard's, and we had been looking forward to it. I received a $150 gift card for my birthday and we were ready to spend it. After we were seated, I let our server know that we would be using the gift card, and he checked the balance to verify. The experience went downhill from there. Our server didn't return again for at least 7-8 minutes, and even then we had to flag him down just to ask for water and order our cocktails. I don't know if he was just having an off night or what, but he was extremely inattentive. We ordered the chilled shellfish tower to share as our main entree, and the crab claws were some of the worst I've ever had - dry, super flaky and tasteless. The oysters and shrimp were okay, but the lobster was slimy and just overall not what I would expect for an $85 item. I would much rather have the shellfish tower at Truluck's.
We love the ambiance at Robard's and would maybe be willing to give it another shot, but this experience definitely tarnished our overall opinion.
Steaks were good and cooked well (I'm very particular). Be ready for a big check though. I felt like it was a little overpriced.
A definite go to place for excellent food and service. The rack of lamb was top notch as were the Wagyu steaks. Very good sides with large portions to share. We were very pleased.
Very disappointed in our experience. We waited forever to be served by the waitstaff. We actually had to approach them and ask if they would take our order. Once they did, they did not write the order down so we did not get everything that we ordered. At the end of the evening, my husband ordered a specific beer but was given another beer. The waitress insisted she gave him the correct beer. We later discovered that the bar mixed the kegs of beer. We were hopeful that the patio would be a nice place to sit since it was a beautiful evening, but it smelled like it was freshly mulched.
The food was amazing! Make sure you ask for Jeff, he made excellent suggestions and was very attentive!
Great service by our server!
Good food nice place
Place was beautiful.
Ordered Med rare, not Medium.
Sides were cold.
waiter was over bearing.
As always delicious! For us the steaks are the best in Houston and surroundings
Best steak I've ever had. My wife and I both had the Wagyu (ribeye and filet), both were unbelievably good. Would come back just for the bone marrow appetizer alone. It was fantastic. Jeff took great care of us and the sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Best meal I've had in the Woodlands!
Our second visit to Robard’s and was a great experience from start to finish. Try to get Alex as your server. Fantastic.
And GM, Joseph Effert offered personal greeting and service. Much appreciated.
This was my first time there and everything was great!!! We will be back.
This was our fourth time dining at Robard's, which has somewhat become our default "special occasion" dining place. Unfortunately, the place can (and did) get quite noisy, particularly with the bigger parties that are almost certainly wedding guests or business conference travelers. This last time was such an experience. The decor is always nice, although they've add some pretty unattractive mustard yellow booths since our last visit which don't seem to go with the rest of the more industrial decor.
That being said, the service was good, but not SPECTACULAR, like we've had in our previous 3 visits. Perhaps it was just an off night or a lack of experience (our waiter did say he'd only worked there about 3 months). It was also a little odd that no managers came by to check on us as they have in the past.
Service notwithstanding, the food was incredible, as usual. My wife and I both had steaks with potato sides and they were outstanding, huge, and delicious.
We still will continue to return to Robard's for the food, but hope for the top-notch service and a hopefully quieter environment than we had this last time.
Great high end stakes. The price is high but so is the quality
Our server, Brock, was
We had an early dining time of 5:30 so it was so nice before the busy time. Many persons available to greet before the rush and superb view overlooking the lake. I did not ask about Paleo or Vegetarian... My steak was deliciously cooked - great flavor! My granddaughter enjoyed her Rack of Lamb. Since no sides come with the main course we ordered more dishes... spinach parmesan as well as the potato fingerlings with extra sauce for each of us. (It would have been nice to have soup or salad come with the main course.) The Quality there is exceptional tho the value I discounted since all dishes are a lacarte with a substzntially higher cost. I would not reorder the spinach dish as we split it and was a bit soggy unless you had more of the broasted cheese topping. (A wider shallower dish might solve that problem!) Their selections of breads were yummy... thick crusty sour dough,p light jalapeno muffins, & large thin crispy sesame crackers - with an ample supply of butter.
Service: our waiter came often before we could decide... then when ready we had quite a wait until he returned. Maybe he was new. We did not order wine... water glasses were kept topped off very well.
Summary: We look forward to our next visit...too full for dessert which means a quicker trip back to check that out!
Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Will go back again. Starter mussels were great and crab cake was as expected. Steaks were well prepared and accompanying mushroom were excellent and creamed spinach was good. Wine list is good but not overpowering. Wait staff Jeff did a great job taking care of us. Many thanks.
Our waiter Jeff was amazing!!! From the beginning he was all about the customer service and ensuring that we had the best night possible. Food was delicious! We were disappointed in the small size of the oysters at $3.50 per oyster but otherwise food was well proportioned to cost. As far as ambiance....Robard’s is better suited for a business retreat dinner as opposed to an intimate dining experience. Don’t get me wrong we enjoyed ourselves but the noise level was a bit much to enjoy a quaint anniversary celebration. The seating was a bit odd for this situation as well, utilizing a bench seat shared amongst several tables where wait staff had to wait on one another in order to tend to their customers. We definitely enjoyed our meal, and celebration despite those minor details. Again, Jeff was amazing and I would recommend that you request him if possible when you go. Thanks Robard’s for a very nice anniversary and we will be back soon!
Food was very good, ambience was very nice. Waitstaff was excellent. Jeff did a great job.
Food, service, and atmosphere were amazing. Definitely recommend this place to anyone
Excellent food and service
We are a senior quartet. Unfortunately a party of 18 was seated behind us, well after we were seated, and they were having a raucous good time. That good time negatively impacted our expectations of a "quiet" dinner. So be it.
For a perfect evening, Robard's is the perfect place.
