The waitstaff was spot on. Just enough attention, always there when needed and knowledgeable. Christine created the correct atmosphere for a good business dinner.
The lamb shank was one of the best I have ever had.
Super loud audience and environment. People dressed from expensive 3 piece suits to ball caps and shorts. Loud, inappropriate, varied environment of people. Very uncomfortable environment. I would much recommend other steak houses in the area, preferably those where the cost and class are equivalent.

Love this place. My only critique is that they should carry Lola steak sauce and the porterhouse is drastically overpriced.

The selection of starters included unique choices. We had the bone marrow, chicken liver and polenta. The bone marrow and chicken livers were delicious. Great presentation. Everyone loved their meal. Sirloin, lamb shank and scallops. Be aware the portions are large. Our server was courteous, knowledgeable and patient. Just the right amount of attention.
Negative - the hostess advised us we could not be seated a minute before 5pm. We were aware of the 5pm start time. It was her delivery and the emphasis of “not a minute before!”

The service was an absolute ten! The big steak was a bit underwhelming, mostly because of the difference in how much the steak was cooked from the filet to the chop. I'm literally still dreaming about the sweetness in the center of the mushroom soup. Overall a nice experience!
I watch him on Iron Chef so we tried it. We were early but they were nice. We started off with the meatballs for starters & they melt in your mouth with the flavor of lamb, tomato & parmesan. A must try. My Entree was the 9 oz filet with crab bearnaise, $57.00 but the steak was like butter & loaded with flavor. In fact i ate it the second day & it was just as flavorful. Then for my side I chose creamy polenta which was like sweet savory heaven. My tab for 2 was $149.00 but well worth it.

The only problem was that the menu I found on google had nothing to do with the actual menu. The server told us this has happened before, so do check ahead it this matters to you.
We have been to Roast several times before, this time for a milestone birthday. It did not disappoint! Service was prompt but not obtrusive. Wait staff was knowledgeable and helpful; I had ordered their aged ribeye medium rare and was gently suggested that a medium rare + was better for this aged cut. Wine and cocktail menu was broad enough for disparate tastes. Serving portions were sufficient for that dinner and tonight's dinner as well. And the shared dessert came with a birthday candle and greetings. Fabulous meal, great surroundings, superb staff, just an outstanding dinner to celebrate a 70th birthday with a spouse of 46 years!

My wife and I were in Detroit for the first time. We decided on The Roast and we are glad we did. We enjoyed a fabulous meal. The wait staff was exceptional very attentive to us. Our food was excellent, the smoked pork chop was the best pork chop I have ever eaten. It beat out one from Emeril's in New Orleans.
out of 9 meals 1 was tasty the lobster pasta, restaurant was nice only one bathroom though and it was dirty you have to use the hotels.

For starter we had the mussels they were delicious and certainly enough to share. The branzino was also delicious and the filet mignon was perfectly cooked and very tender. The rosemary fries and brussel sprouts were great. To finish it off we had the bar it was quite decadent. It was a lovey evening with great food and service.
The dining experience was fantastic. Got two porterhouse steaks with mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, and beef cheek perogies. Steak was cooked to perfection. Service and atmosphere was perfect for our date. Would recommend. Is very expensive though, but worth it. Spent just under 200 after food, and champagne.
Oysters were a rip off, steak presentation was lacking, I mean, just a piece of meat in center of large plate with nothing else, hello.
Food was excellent. Staff was excellent.
Only issue, a table of 4 came in and were sat near us.
They either work there or are regulars, but everyone
knew them. They spoke quite loudly in what is a
quiet restaurant, and their vocabulary was more for a
night at the bar where you're throwing back shots.
Not a conversation or language I would choose to listen
to during my meal.
I didn't mention it to our server or the manager as both
had been at their table and it was clear they all were friends.
Visited for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. I had the smoked pork chops and they were amazing! The staff was very attentive. We both really enjoyed it.

Food was very good. Would recommend multiple sizes on the sides, Brussels Sprouts were very good but way too many for two, could have used more potatoes. Staff was very good, they were friendly and had a good knowledge of the menu. They also had good information about things and places happening in the surrounding area. We would return.
Roast is amazing! Really a hidden gem in the city. The food was exquisite, the service was phenomenal and the atmosphere wasn't stuffy,more upbeat. I would definitely recommend and will be back for sure.
Roast is always a fantastic experience. This time around was no different. Our server was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and gracious. The food and drinks were all delicious and quick.
The service was excellent and food was terrific. It is a bit pricey but was worth every penny in my opinion.

I'm sorry to report that we were mildly disappointed with the Roast. The friendliest person during our visit was the valet. When we first arrived we were seated at the farthest end of the restaurant . We asked to be moved and were accommodated but not in a very friendly manner. Our waiter was proficient but acted as if he had better things to do than wait our table. I'm pulling for Detroit in a big way and that's why we drove 60 miles to get there. The food was good not great. Our bill was 300+ for 4 people plus tip. Expensive but not overly so if... the staff is great you get a personable waiter and the food is great. Step your game up Roast if you want repeat customers.
I've been to Roast about a half dozen times. Each time, it was excellent. It was equally excellent this time, however the price had increased. I felt that the cost of our meals were much too high for what we ate and drank, as well as being much higher than in the past. I have no objection to paying for a good meal and good service, but this time, it was too much.
