Roast - A Michael Symon Restaurant
Happy Hour: Monday - Friday: 4:00pm-6:30pm
Went for our anniversary dinner, perfectly cooked steak, great service! Definitely made special day feel even more special!💞
We were expecting more due to reputation. Food wasn't as good as it should have been.
We had a wonderful meal! Great environment and the food was delicious. Our waiter was polite and helpful.
This was the first visit for all three of us. The portions were quite plentiful. Had we known, we would have planned our sides a bit better for sharing. Service was solid, although they did seem to ask a bit more than necessary about how the meal was.
High quality food, great service and must do for downtown Detroit. The Bone Marrow appetizer alone was worth the visit, the steak wonderful and desert rich and divine!
ABSOLUTELY A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. OUR WAITRESS WAS VERY PERSONABLE, AND WOULD RECOMMAND TO ALL
Everything was wonderful. We went for father's day and he enjoyed it.
We have eaten here several times and it is very good. However, this time it took our food an unusually long time to be served. And our steaks, which were cooked perfectly, we’re very smoky tasting. We were also disappointed that there were no daily entree specials for the evening. We were a little disappointed this time!
Roast never fails to amaze us. This wasn't our first visit and won't be our last. We love the setting, the treatment we receive, the menu, the service - just everything about it. We highly recommend it to everyone.
The Lamb shank was fantastic. Can't wait to go back
Had a great meal and a great waiter. Ken was very attentive and good at explaining the menu items and wine choices. All the staff were very customer focused.
First time there and it was amazing! Best pork chop I’ve ever had! I do not like Brussels sprouts but I had heard they were very good here. So glad I tried them because they were great!
The dining experience at Roast was fantastic. The waitstaff is very knowledgeable of the menu and drinks. Our waiter's suggestions on the menu were also very helpful. We found the appetizers delicious and the right portion to not ruin our appetite. For dinner we had the filet and brussel sprouts. The sprouts were the best I have ever eaten, and the steak was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The dessert selection is limited, but there is something for everyone's taste ... if you have room.
This place never disappoints. Food is excellent. Never a bad experience here. Very consistent in food quality, service and timeliness. You pay more and you get more. They have a extensive list of wine and cocktails to suit anyone's preferences. I highly recommend the steaks. We'll definitely be back soon.
Exceptional experience before going to the symphony with my adult daughter. Service was quick (as we told them when we sat down, that we had a time limit). Food was crazy delicious...scallops were perfect and the chocolate bar dessert was delish!!
Great service and delicious food. Server was knowledgeable on gluten free choices. Curb side valet in the heart of Detroit.
Good and service was everything I expected and more. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be visiting again in the near future.
Our anniversary was fantastic!
Ordered two steaks to go when got home they had a vinegar-based cabbage dressing on top of them all I could taste was vinegar they need decide if they're going to cook steaks or something else
I Ordered Pork Chop with Creamy Polenta and Roasted Asparagus...
Very nice celebratory dinner, made even better by our server, Kevin. His personality and knowledge of the cuisine made our evening special.
This restaurant is sleek and sophisticated. The food is well prepared and excellent quality. The oysters were fresh and redolent of the sea. Their version of steak frites featured hanger steak the night we were there. It was tender and perfectly cooked. The rosemary fries that accompanied the steak were well seasoned and plentiful. We had the cassata cake and strawberry and cream were both innovative and delicious. The experience was enhanced by the professional staff. We will definitely return.
I am vegan and my wife does not eat pork or shellfish the witness we had was able to help work around the menu
Excellent service a little noisy for our table to converse during our dinner.
Roast remains the best service in the city of Detroit. They are no longer a no celery, but they remain a top steak house experience.
Everything from food to service was excellent!
We have been to Michael Symon restaurants in Cleveland. This was our first trip to Detroit and we decided for a new city to hit one of his restaurants. I wish I would have known this place was inside the Westin Hotel. That was a turn off. We googled the menu online using 'roast menu'. When we arrived the prices were twice as high as the google hit. We were looking forward to swordfish and the porterhouse for two. There was no swordfish on the menu and the porterhouse for two was 140.00. The waitress was a bit pushy. We had a 700 reservation that night. The food was just ok. The filet was a cool temp and the hanger steak which I ordered came all cut up and premixed with some herbs. I wish we would have known. Also the rest room was all the way back into the Westin lobby. This was not our cup of tea this night and missed our previous expectations and history of the Cleveland Michael Symon places.
Enjoyable dinner experience. Our first time at Roast, celebrating a birthday with a party of 4. Appetizers were unique and very good. Bread was great, from Zingerman's. Salads and sides were very good. Steaks were excellent, except one was cooked medium instead of medium rare, as ordered. Wine list was extensive, though my parents would have preferred a paper menu wine list to an I-Pad list. Brandon, our server, was very attentive.
We will return and would highly recommend Roast for a great dining experience in a fabulous setting, the restored Book Cadillac Westin Hotel.
Filet was the highlight, med/rare & very tender but the crust was too salty, meatball appentizer was nothing special from a flavor profile standpoint; brussel sprouts were disappointing some good bites where the vinagette dressing was but much of the dish had no dressing or walnuts and had a lot of overdone leaves that had come off the sprouts. Scallops were underseasoned as was he Yukon gold puree. Bottom line I've had much better for half the price, regret not getting a burger at the bar during happy hour...
Filet was incredibly salty. Wine and side dishes were great.
Wonderful atmosphere and terrific food! Thanks for a great experience.
Love roast. Favorite place to eat downtown. One of the only places ive ever been to that serves duck and it's amazing.
Everything was great, food, service, and adult beverage selection. We go every year for our anniversary and the booths have duck tape were they ripped. Really cheap of them for such a nice restaurant. I am pretty sure it was that way last year when we went too. Amazing steak and Mac and cheese though!!!
The waitstaff was spot on. Just enough attention, always there when needed and knowledgeable. Christine created the correct atmosphere for a good business dinner.
The lamb shank was one of the best I have ever had.
Super loud audience and environment. People dressed from expensive 3 piece suits to ball caps and shorts. Loud, inappropriate, varied environment of people. Very uncomfortable environment. I would much recommend other steak houses in the area, preferably those where the cost and class are equivalent.
Best steak I’ve ever had. Amazing food and ambiance. Will be coming again.
Love this place. My only critique is that they should carry Lola steak sauce and the porterhouse is drastically overpriced.
Our dinner at Roast was excellent. The service was great and the food was delicious.
Food tasty but expensive, and server forgot drinks and a salad order
