We had a fantastic experience. The food was amazing and Ken was an attentive and personable server.
We started at the bar; I am a gin drinker and the the selection of top shelf gin here was the best I’ve seen. Our bartender was great, very personable and gave us his menu recommendations. When we were seated our waiter (Ken) was there immediately with menus and to take our drink orders. We were ordering a bottle of wine; my wife is particular about the wines she drinks and gave Ken her likes/dislikes and he came back with a perfect bottle! The steaks and side were all perfectly prepared; I like my steak medium rare, Ken explained how their steaks are marbled and suggested medium rare plus-he was right! The rib eye was fantastic. Roast is now my favorite metro Detroit area restaurant
Nothing inspiring on menu. Think it has changed since original “Roast” theme when it opened
Awesome from beginning to end. You must try it
The food and drink was all very good. There were 4 of us and everyone liked there food.
Will definitely go back.
As a native Clevelander and aficionado of Lola, this was my first trek to Roast and it was FANTASTIC! In the midst of a snowstorm, the bartender was able to whip up a hot buttered rum for me. The crudo appetizer and the New York strip steak were to die for. My waiter suggested a cheesecake dessert, and it was also delicious. Roast is directly connected to the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel and is definitely the place to dine whether or not you are staying in that hotel.
Food was delicious, worth the price. Arrived 45 minutes ahead of our reservation and they told us they couldn’t seat us till our reservation time, the place was only half full. That was a little disappointing. Overall still very good experience.
I'm really disappointed in the Manager handling of my reservations. We had two separate reservations for a total of 11 people. I contacted the restaurant weeks before my reservation and spoke with Jeff, the manager and explained I was unable to reserve 11 seats on Open Table. He recommended two tables that He would make sure were next to each other. However, when we arrived they put one group in the front and the other in the back of the restaurant. I immediately spoke with him and His attitude was "oh well." I explained how important it was for us to sit in close proximity because we were attending a concert after dining and wanted to make sure we completed our meals at the same time, unfortunately that didn't happen. One group finished much soon than the other and had to wait for the second group 20 more minuets. Not the experience we planned. Thank goodness there are sooo many restaurants to dine at in Detroit now, this one is off the list.
Our food and server were excellent but it did take a while to get our steaks.
This was my 4th time at Roast and I was a little worried going back. The previous visit was less than stellar. We decided to give it another shot and boy was this better. Everything was nearly perfect. I recommend a visit to anyone who as never been.
Overall, the restaurant was lovely, the waitress did a good job, but took quite awhile to get the main course. Diners who came in after us were served and done their meal by the time main course was served. I found the filet mignon to be the least impressive of an otherwise very good meal. I think you will find a better steak at Ruth’s Chris.
Amazing food. Service was awesome. They got us fed and off to pistons game on time!
Dinner was nothing short of amazing. Every bite was warm and delicious. Our server, Amy, was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The only thing that I wasn’t super keen on was the cauliflower. It had an odd spice to it, at least odd for cauliflower to me. It may have been cinnamon even. Just strange on cauliflower! I can’t wait to go again. We had the ages ribeye with umami butter and crab bearnaisse filet. Fabulous!
A very mixed experience. Superb cocktails and octopus appetizer, both truly outstanding. But the ribeye and NY strip steaks we had were under seasoned and VERY fatty. Not marbly fatty, just lots of huge fat bits that were impossible to see to cut off in the super dimly lit dining room. Didn't seem like very high quality meat even when we managed bites that weren't all fat. For the price ($56 & $58 as I recall) very underwhelming.
We had eaten there a number of times in the past but not for the last couple of years. Used to be an amazing experience. The chairs now are worn out and the whole thing seemed tired. Indifferent service too. The whole enterprise needs refreshing, particularly since there is now so much worthy competition.
Excellent restaurant. Will definitely return. Food was great
My dry aged ribeye taste like it was just purchased from the grocery store. Couldnt tell it was dry aged at all.
Had excellent service by our server, Christin. Food was fantastic.
Oustanding food. Outstanding service. This place never disappoints.
It was amazing I really appreciate the anniversary dessert and the free drink. Everyone was so nice. The food was amazing and even tasted good the next day as leftovers. Thank you.
My wife and I came to Roast to celebrate Valentine’s Day. I had been wanting to come here for a while and wanted my wife and I to experience it together. We were not disappointed at all. She ordered the pork chop which was not only presented great but matched in taste and I ordered a ribeye steak ordered medium which was soooo good and juicy.
Our waiter was on the spot and made sure our experience was incredible.
Food was amazing, our service was phenomenal and it was the perfect place to have a romantic Valentine's day dinner!
Great food at a reasonable price for the service and quality. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner (the aged porterhouse for two was amazing) and never felt rushed by the service team who were all extremely gracious. 10/10 will go again.
Ordered my rid eye medium well it came out rare. Both of our steaks were too salty.
Second time at this venue. The meat was good, service wonderful the veggies a bit complicated.
Service and ambiance was great and food was mostly good, one entree was served undercooked and warm. Prices too high for food compared to other high end similar restaurants.
We have been going to Roast for years and we always have an amazing experience. The food, staff, and are always exceptional.
Made reservations for my boyfriend’s birthday. We absolutely loved the food. The service is impeccable. Don’t skip dessert.
Excellent service and food. Special request taken care of by staff flawlessly
It was amazing food and a great table. Our server Kevin was the best and we will definitely be back
The vodka martini was one of the best I’ve ever had. Kudos.
The dry aged ribeye was ok....it didn’t taste any different from a USDA Choice cut....also, it was too busy though with the “salad” on top of it....which detracted from the visual enjoyment of the steak. Overall, not worth the $58 I paid for it.
The rosemary fries were AWESOME.
Service was overly casual for a restaurant at this price point. It was as if the server was “mailing it in.”
Likely won’t be back for dinner, but I’d like a couple more of those martinis at the bar and maybe a burger.
Christmas present for my husband was weekend in Detroit. We’ve been to Roast many times before and understand there’s much more competition now in the Detroit foodie space. Roast is reliably excellent, Michelle went above and beyond , you won’t be disappointed. P
It did not live up to expectations. Basic higher end steak house. They sat us in the bar which is louder to begin with. Food was middle of the road given the price point. Wife’s scallops were warm bordering on cold. Best course was desert. Too many other choices to spend my money downtown.
Your staff and food was great - we really enjoyed our dinning experience!
Everything from the atmosphere to the food was excellent. Our server was very attentive and the food was delicious.
Pirogies were very good and so was the main courses. We enjoyed being sat in a quiet booth and being able to spend 1:1 time together.
Greg was great and paired our wines well to our liking. Not many places have a French made Malbec.
The food, wine and service was outstanding.
Roast still delivers after 11 years. The menu is simple and the prices have inched ever higher, but the place remains one of Detroit’s best.
Was staying in the hotel Roast is a part of in the lobby. My wife and I both had Seafood which was done perfectly. Fantastic wine list and craft cocktails. One of those places we may just order appetizers and dessert, not because the entrees didn't measure up but because the appetizers and dessert made the meal.
