Once again a phenomenal meal prepared perfectly to tantalize the taste buds. Had the Apple, blue cheese salad, hanger steak and Mango, coconut and lime sorbet. Each dish was amazingly layered with flavors. Take time to taste and savor. You won't be disappointed

The food and service were wonderful. Unfortunately, Our table was close to the bar and to the servers station, It was hard to hear our server and a little challenging to carry on a conversation.

Roast has been amazing every time we have gone. The bar menu at happy hour allows you to try so many different things! And OMG, the chicken livers and polenta! I would cry when my mother made me eat liver as a child. At Roast, I cry when the plate is empty!

Good service. Bad food. Chef needs to learn their temperatures on steaks.

First time at Roast... Fantastic meal and service.

Expensive bill but was aware of prices when we decided to eat there. I've had expensive meals before in California it this meal was by far the most plentiful.

All around wonderful experience.

Went to Roast to the first time and it was fantastic. The side of creamy polenta was one of the best I’ve had. The service was also outstanding. The server made great suggestions and made for a fantastic evening!

Went for Valentine’s Day and were not disappointed. The food is always excellent and the service is on point. This is still one of our favorites even with all of the other places that have opened.

I went to Roast before a Detroit Pistons game and the dinner was most enjoyable! It is nice to see such a great restaurant in the downtown area. The food and service were both excellent.... thank you to the Staff!

This restaurant checks all the boxes -- service, delicious food and ambiance. The bar can get noisy but otherwise a perfect evening.

I’m in Detroit once a year and I always go to Selden Standard and Roast, where I sit at the bar and have the best burger I’ve ever eaten.

This is a self-serving review :). Everyone enjoyed their meal except me. I ordered the trout and it was presented well and seasoned well. However, when I spend $36 on fish, I expect for it to be pin-boned. There were so many bones (yes I know fish has bones) that it was just not enjoyable at all. Since this was a business dinner I didn't want to make a scene and complain.

We did enjoy the dessert.

The food was outstanding as expected, however we waited an hour between our soup and salad and our entree which was excessive. Our server was terrific, but it seems like the kitchen let her down with the timeliness of the entree.

We dined before a Hockey game short walk to Little Caesars Arena. Appetizers and Steaks were perfectly prepared. The Brussels Sprouts appetizer is the best I've had. A first rate experience in every way.

Exceptional meal. Beef cheek pierogie and Ribeye steak. One of the best cuts of meat I’ve ever been served. Asked for an extra thick cut charred and rare. Perfectly cooked temperature. Very impressed, make this your steakhouse choice in Detroit.

Fantastic dining experience. Highly recommended. Wait staff very courteous, and helpful. The ribeye wasn't great. It was divine. Very flavorful and tender. Best ever. Loved the Caesar Salad and Brussel sprouts with walnuts. Can't wait to visit Detroit and go there again.

Quality of the food was impeccable. Many choices were available. So many options for cocktails I didn't know where to start, but was able to settle on a wine recommendation from our waiter. Prices were a little on the high end, but it was expected. If you want to impress your date take him or her to the Roast.

I was visiting the Autoshow and needed a restaurant close by to take my customer. Nicely located on the same street as the Autoshow was just a couple of blocks away, within walking distance.
It is nice inside, romantic lighting and the waitress was top notch (Amy).
We both started with the Potato soup which was a special and it was delicious. Filet Mignon 9oz was cooked to perfection, mushrooms and crispy potatoes followed that and it was very very good. For dessert I went with the thinny mint and it was also delicious. Overall a very good meal, nice ambiance just a tad ruined with the noise coming from the kitchen, hollering and also some loud sneezes, but the taste of the food was very good.

My wife and came to Detroit from our home in Rhode Island to attend the Auto Show. We had been recommended the restaurant as being the beast steak house in town. The restaurant is elegant and service was excellent. It is much too dark, however. Because we were seated near the window which opened to the well-lit kitchen, ours was the best lit table in the restaurant. It was still too dark for us. I don't know how it came to be, but very dark restaurants have unfortunately come to be synonymous with elegance and romance. We both ordered the filet mignon. It was excellent. We could not have gotten a better piece of meat. I just wish that it was offered in two sizes, as is the case in other high quality steak houses. The sides were a big disappointment. The polenta was actually creamed corn, with that dish's sweetness. It was awful. My four grandparents and my wife's four grandparents were Italian born. We grew up eating polenta. This dish was a gritty creamed corn. The vegetables offered didn't appeal to us, but we settled on the brussels sprouts. They were bitter and dry. We ordered the butterscotch peanut butter pie. It was delicious. All in all, for our meal in this poorly lit restaurant, the meat was sublime, the dessert was wonderful, but the sides were a big disappointment.

My wife and I had a great experience as we celebrated her birthday. The only issue was that our server incorrectly explained the levels of wellness for the steaks. He explained it as if it was very different than the standard levels. My wife's steak was ordered at Medium rare but came out closer to a medium or medium well. Everything else was great!
