I come to that Restaurant since about 8 years.
The NY stripe Quality was Always excelent. This year I was disappointed. The Steak was served already cut making looking bigger as it was.
But there were sharp onion slices on top. A lot of. Too much. I asked me why. To cover a littel steak?
Side dishes were also not that good as I have it in my memory.
The taste made to me the impression as too many ingredients were mixed together.
I appreciate a honest taste of a vegetable not covered with sugar, Balsamico and so on.
All in all i guess I will come again next Spring. If the food will be the same, I guess that has been the last visit.
The food was delicious. I had the filet mignon with salt and olive oil cooked medium and brussel sprouts. Brandon was a great server!
Excellent as always.
I would for the food, but I would recommend getting a more private table so they could enjoy themselves. The main room was extremely loud... not a place to sit when you're there on a special occasion like we were for our 30th wedding anniversary of which I informed the greeters of beforehand. We were very disappointed in that. Plus the seats were extremely uncomfortable and after sitting in them for over two hours, my back which hadn't bothered me in quite some time got aggravated to the point that I barely slept that night because of the pain. And lastly I will never recommend enjoying any of your finer spirits you have to offer straight or neat because of your pricing. The pricing you've set on all the spirits I had are at the level of gouging. I'm a member the Michigan Bourbon Society and a whisky/whiskey lover and your 15 Year Red breast Whisky in a 1.5oz pour is $41 which is almost half the price of a whole bottle at $91... Your mixed drinks were delicious and priced accordingly at about $10 which I can accept all day, but your spirit pricing is unacceptable and will be dully noted to all that ask me about your establishment. Your food on the other hand was absolutely amazing and I will recommend it any day to anyone. But I do think a few things need to be addressed for me to fully enjoy your restaurant again.
The dinner was great! We did sit in an area that faced a service station. Even that could not ruin our great service and food. Ken our service was so nice and attentive. We had a great time.
My son and his date and some friends dined before going to homecoming. They had a great meal and great service.
Overall, it was a nice anniversary dinner. The noise level was moderate due to the reduced size of the dinning room and proximity to the busy bar area. Service was very good and the filet was a little over done; however, not enough to send back.
Steak was way to salty and not worth $60!!!
Pierogies where awesome. I should have ordered a plate of those instead!!! I will not eat here again!!! Don’t waste your money eating here !!
Service was great!!
Roast always follows through with my special reservation requests and the staff is attentive. We go there for our anniversary every year. It never disappoints.
Restaurant was too dark. Couldn’t read the menu. Steak was wonderful, sides were only okay.
Food was excellent service was very good and bartender made awesome cosmopolitan!
Great ambiance and great service
Our Detroit favorite and standard "go to" for special occasions. Consistent great service and delicious food. Beverages are wonderful, also. Always impressed with the consistency in the food and service. Looking forward to one day coming to your "happy hour".
Nice place to celebrate 69 birthday. Great food. Salmon was the best I’ve ever eaten. Apple dessert was wonderful end to great night..
absolutely! the food was phenomenal. The service and presentation was excellent. The mix of different herbs and flavors were extraordinary. The one bad thing is the ceiling looked like it was in disrepair and had drywall issues
Wonderful pre-theatre experience! Waiter was very conscientious about getting us out on time, yet not rushing us! Food was fabulous, ambience was stunning!
our dinner and server were incredible...thank you all
I had the Filet and my friend had the Rib Eye. Both were cooked to perfection. I tried some of the rib eye and it was seasoned perfectly with lots of flavor. My Filet was really tender and good also. Our sides were mashed potatoes and wild mushrooms which were tasty as well. We didn't leave room for dessert.
Amazing dinner service experience! We were placed at the far end of the dining room, which was a little quieter than the bar area but still had an enthusiastic vibe. Dress was essentially business casual. Chairs are large and comfortable. Service by Brandon was exceptional. Extensive wine list available on a tablet and sorted by colour/region. It was really just everything you would expect from a finer restaurant. Perfect for any occasion or just wanting a few casual drinks at the bar.
Steaks were good. Whipped potatoes and mushrooms were standard fare for anywhere. The sorbet was one scoop good, the other scoop very bad (ginger coconut). Tables for two are crammed together on one wall, so not an intimate setting at all. Liquor and wine prices are too overinflated for this restaurant experience. Server was knowledgeable, and the service staff was exceptional.
Our waiter was AWESOME! we was right there whenever we needed anything, and we was very funny. Highly recommend this place to anyone because of the service.
Excellent!! Everything was on point!
Great place for friends to gather and have a wonderful meal together. I don’t eat red meat but had many delicious options to chose from. Great place and great food!
We didn't care for the seasoning on the rib eye. Personal opinion really. The filet was fantastic.
We went for a kid free anniversary dinner. The food was great, the servers were attentive, and we were able to have a romantic dinner.
Amazing food! Great atmosphere ..... try the roasted bone marrow
Wait staff and service was excellent and authentic. Definitely a cut above what you would expect. Food was delicious, thought out, and provided an experience; seasoning was on point, and temperatures were consistent. Selection was perfect; not too much to overwhelm, but not so little that you can’t find something for everyone.
Amazing food, thoughtful service, and a great space. From the bone marrow and pork belly appetizers to the spinach & feta side dishes ... of course the steaks were great, prepared exactly and had wonderful accompaniments. I really enjoyed the round banquettes, they make conversation very easy.
First you need to know that I have been told I'm very picky! I am.
Love their reservation system and the follow up phone call to confirm was very gracious.
Three small negatives:
1. Way too dark, the lighting should have been brought up.
2. The rib eye, although excellent, was not a good value. $58.00 for a piece of meat that was not absolutely perfect doesn't make the grade. It was perfectly cooked to my request but was a bit grainy in texture.
3. the strawberry shortcake, in one small area had a refrigerator taste to it. But quite scrumptious otherwise!
The waiter, Ken, was outstanding. He took the time to explain preparation of certain dishes to us, making certain we were properly educated. His wine suggestion was spot on. And, this has never happened before, he double checked to make sure the wine was still to my liking AFTER it had sat a bit, saying he realized that wine may not be what the initial contact conjured. Also, he knows his chef and made the very correct recommendation for how my steak should be prepared.
A very nice drink selection, especially if you are looking for a good wine. I liked they had a smaller menu as that helps narrow down the choices. The food was plentiful (we split the rib eye, roast fries, and cauliflower).
The pastry menu is also amazing. The strawberry shortcake was the perfect ending as it was not too filling but was sweet enough to satisfy a sweet tooth craving.
We will be back again (already planning our next visit)!
Great restaurant. Food was excellent - other than our medium steaks were on the rare side, but it still tasted fantastic! Highly recommend!
What an amazing place and food. Very nice and perfect service.
There is nothing to complain about. We enjoyed a wonderful evening.
Spent our anniversary at Roast. Wonderful atmosphere. Great food. Our waitress was knowledgable and helpful. We had the house specialty, Beef Cheek Pierogies, with two glasses of red wine. Perfect. Our entrees, New York strip and the Filet Mignon, were cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Together with the mashed potatoes and the macaroni and cheese, it was a great night out. Highly recommend.
Was there for a romantic dinner with my husband- we were sat next to a group who was there to socialize, ruining the mood. French onion soup, strong and salty... couldn’t enjoy the flavor. Caesar salad flavorless and dry with very soft lettuce that was room temp. Steak and fries and dessert were superior and regained our faith in the restaurant. “The bar” dessert was the best dessert we ever had.
The food and service was outstanding. The beef cheek peirogies were amazing, the scallops were seared to perfection and the brussel sprouts will make you eat your vegetables.
However, the table by the kitchen needs to be removed. The traffic going to and coming from the kitchen was distracting and left a cool breeze in the air as the staff rushed by the table.
I would still go back because I loved the food, but would not settle again with the seating.
So F'g horrible. The entire table's entrees had to be returned because they were unacceptable. Soggy trout skin, raw cold hanger steak, and HORRIBLE PASTA that COAGULATED WHILE EATING. Ineffectual server Amy and pathetic Manager. Eat at the pizza shop around the corner. Yuck, gross, refused.
We've eaten here on four prior occasions. This time we brought friends who had never been. We were excited to impress them. The restaurant was not busy at all on a Saturday night. The server was not engaging with us or our guests, however she was okay. The food however was rely below par for this restaurant. Our tomato salads were truly horrible. Terrible quality of mushy tasteless tomatoes with little salt or seasoning. After waiting for 20 minutes for our entrees, the server came to tell us that the kitchen got backed up and it would be another 15 minutes. Simply unacceptable on a non-busy night.
The chicken dish was mediocre at best bordering on dry and with too many competing flavors to enjoy. My guest's rib eye was cooked as he liked it, but again, he confided to me the next day that it was simply okay and he wouldn't go back to have it. All in all, we were disappointed with a meal of this cost.
The finest steak in the Metro Detroit area! A medium plus filet with zip sauce with brussel sprouts is indescribably tender and delicious! Worth every penny!
My wife and i dined in at this awesome restaurant for our 18 year anniversary. From the moment we walked in the service was impeccable. Close attention was kept on the fact it was our 18 year anniversary. Especially from our waiter BRANDON! Quite possibly the best service we have ever had from any one waiter in our lives. He was on top of everything. Just awesome.
As for the food, my wife and i both agreed it was possibly the single greatest meal we have ever had. The pork belly appetizer was like none other. Salad spot on. And steak just melted in our mouths with flavor.
Thank you Roast for the best anniversary meal and dining experience ever!
Service awesome, food delicious, drinks tasty. Need I say anything more!?
