The Roaring Fork's Wood Fired Cooking captures the spirit of bold American cuisine, creating flavors that crackle with a rugged edge. In the Old West, the best food was prepared on a simple wood fire. This same spirit, freshness and flavor are at the heart of every dish we serve.View Private Dining Details
We had a terrible experience with our service. We waited over 5 minutes to be greeted. When the rest of our party showed up, after 5 minutes we had to search for our waiter to order drinks. We had to go find him several minutes later when we wanted to order. He never came back and asked us anything about our meal.
I had brought in a dessert and I gave the dessert to our waiter when we first arrived. I asked him to put the dessert on a plate and the candles when we were ready for dessert. Again, we had to go find him. I asked to speak to the Manager. A gentleman came out of the kitchen. I told him how dissatisfied we were with the service. That’s when he started in on me telling me no one has ever brought in a dessert with candles. I told him I called the restaurant earlier that day and was told it wAs ok to bring in a dessert.
Our reservation was for 5:30, and I think we got out of there after 8:00 pm because of all the waiting around. Other servers kept apologizing, but our server never did. He wasn’t a good server at all, which made for a bad experience.
We have dined at The Roaring Fork 5-6 times in the last year. This was our last, as we will not dine there or recommend it again.
Always amazing. One of my favorites here in Phoenix. Have been coming for many years and it is always consistent in terms of food, margaritas, service and ambiance!
I have been dining at the Roaring Fork for many years and I have never been disappointed. I usually order the Trout. It is perfectly prepared. The employees are friendly and the service is outstanding.
Fabulous, food, service was outstanding. Bathroom was disgusting worse I've ever seen.
Fabulous place, I go there whenever I am in town from California.
Matt is the. EST waiter on the planet!
In short, it was very good but not great. I'd give the food and ambiance 4 out of 5 stars. The host, wait and table staff were impersonal and why I dropped this to 3 out of 5. In Scottsdale, and at this price point, I really expect a lot more from wait staff and customer service. Portion sizes were outatanding. Trout dish was exceptional! Big @$ burger was great! Guac, green chili pork kettle, flatbread and short rib were good but not deserving of the price tag. Reading reviews I can understand why so many of the positive write ups come from the happy hour crowd. At the discount prices these items are spot on, at premium prices you can do better elsewhere. I'd be willing to try this place again but customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Are staff indentured servants? God forbid anyone cracked a smile and seemed happy to be there. At the very least have someone at the hostess station pleasant to greet you.
Love this place. Our favorite whenever we come to Phoenix!
Great service and delicious food.
The food and the service were amazing. Amy our server recommended items and was on the money. I had the huckleberry margarita and fried chicken. My brother and sister-in-law had the trout. The corn muffins were delicious. We will go back again next year when we are in town. Thanks again to Amy she rocks.
Wonderful service. Food quality and taste were excellent.
I heard they got bought out by Darden? This was definitely not as good as the first time we went.
Another outstanding meal at The Roaring Fork. Terrific food and great service. A must visit in Scottsdale.
We were in Scottsdale on vacation. We found the Roaring Fork average. The food was just ok. My date had the trout and found it dry and bland. She did not finish. I had the short ribs and found those to be pretty good. The service was very good. We would not repeat because there are other options that better suit our taste.
We were seated promptly. Service was excellent. Food was outstanding. A touch pricey for my liking but I would highly recommend.
Food was average at best. We had salmon and chicken with sausage stuffing. Both our salads were bland and not real fresh. There were tables seating groups of 5-10 people on patio so it must be a place to take groups, not recommended for a romantic evening. We would not return for uninspired, plain food.
The service was adequate, not exceptional. My appetizer, the green chili pork, came out lukewarm. The menu is generally interesting and the food fun, but it is not wonderful.
Had a great dinner with great service. We recommend Roaring Fork to anyone looking for that special place.
From the time the reservations were made to paying the bill, we experienced a great dining experience! The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our waiter was professional. The food was outstanding. When coming to Scottsdale don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy this restaurant.
The food and drinks were amazing. We tried 4 different menu items and they were all delicious. I would definitely go again.
In town ... rest and relaxation
This used to be a great place. Servers are no longer well trained. Focus on diner experience is low. Food is mediocre now, and staff and ownership seems complacent.
How can you go wrong with the roaring fork? Everything was perfect and they put us at a table in a quieter section which allow us to enjoy our friends company better.
Lacked the personal service that we were used to here. We were celebrating a special occasion and didn't get any personalized service whatsoever. Wouldn't recommend for a "special occasion ". Don't know if we'll make the effort to go back. A lot of other really good restaurant choices nearby.
This is our go-to restaurant: they are good at everything, including excellent beef and seafood, service (thank you to Danielle our server!), the best tortilla soup I have ever found, and divine desserts.
Great for a special occasion. The huckleberry margaritas were a big hit. Our group had a variety of main courses that allowed the opportunity to taste a number of dishes. Everything was well prepared, especially the duck and the pork chops. Desserts were large enough to share. The sorbet with the pecan pie was the perfect combination. Service was attentive. Some of us are big water drinkers and our glasses were refilled before being emptied.
We had a group of six and we were sat in the enclosed patio next to the fireplace. It was a very nice location. Nice ambiance and decorations. We were really happy with the menu and quality of food and drinks.
Food was great. Service was good.
Loved everything about Roaring Fork. We choose the fixed menu which was excellent from salad to dessert. Fillet was outstanding. Very good service.
Our food was wonderful. I had the twice baked potato that was so huge, I took it home and my won ate the rest the next day. The green chile stew was great.
My husband had a great salad with dates and the queso (wow!).
We will be back
The food was excellent, especially the steak and the lamb fondue. The service was similarly excellent. What I enjoyed was that the restaurant was relatively casual; most steak houses seem to be very dark and very formal. If you are trying to impress this might not be the best place, but if you are looking for good food at a nice restaurant then I would recommend Roaring Fork.
Very good restaurant! Will be back! Food was great, went with friends.
Delicious food and top notch service. I would recommend the chili pork appetizer , mac and chees, and steaks.
We flew in late from the east coast and had an 8:30 reservation...we were early and the place was packed, so we decided to “eat at the bar” since our table was not ready.....fun choice! The food was very good (trout/Mexican corn/pecan pie) and the bartender who served us was great as were the other folks tending bar...enjoyable conversations. Restaurant was energetic, but has a cozy feeling....didn’t order, but I bet the steaks are delicious.
Great decor and. ambience Great food and service was prompt, friendly and attentive.
VERY NICE AS ALWAYSHAVE BEEN THERE MANY TIMES ALWAYS EXCELLENT
Food, ambience and service was great
Great food, great price and great service. You have got to go there ! Happy
The quality of the steak they are purchasing was disappointing. The steaks were served bloody when we asked for medium pink. Blood was in our mashed potatoes. The steaks are cooked with some type of liquid smoke. Also, they don’t have beers in draft. We were served a can of beer and a bottle with warm glasses.
The atmosphere was decent with dim lighting. The waitress was amazing and even refunded our beers because they were hot. Honestly we have had better quality steak at The Keg steakhouse. I would probably not go back. This place is over hyped and it isn’t warranted.
Food and service both great. Love the atmosphere. Will definitely go again!
