The Roaring Fork's Wood Fired Cooking captures the spirit of bold American cuisine, creating flavors that crackle with a rugged edge. In the Old West, the best food was prepared on a simple wood fire. This same spirit, freshness and flavor are at the heart of every dish we serve.
Roaring Fork - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
We found the hostess very unwelcoming. To be fair, we were 20 min late for our reservation, however, I felt the hostess was chastising us for this which really set the evening off poorly. As we were unfamiliar with Phoenix, we had no idea it would take us so long to get there. We were seated in the bar which appeared fine until we realized their was a significant, cold breeze every time the patio door was opened. We implored the staff to shut the door as soon as they went through, but were completely ignored, leaving it open while guests chatted in front of it. Our waitress, who otherwise seemed sincere, ran off when we tried to talk to her about it. The food itself was OK but certainly not worth the rave reviews we had seen. I love horseradish, but the amount in the horseradish mashed potatoes was just too much. Presentation was also poor. When you order a nice steak, is it really too much to expect a bit of garnish on the plate? How much would it cost to put a few carrots/lettuce on the plate for visual appeal? The asparagus side was also visually unappealing and tasteless.
This was our first time at Roaring Forks. The food was fabulous! Lots of flavor, without being hot & spicy. Our server was seated with 4 tables at once, so Mark, the manager, stepped in to help out, as they don't want you to sit and wait. Mark did a great job fielding food allergy questions. Everything is made in house, so there was no problem with knowing exactly what is in their food, and if a minor substitution is needed. Overall, the dinner was wonderful. The portions are large, so expect leftovers. I highly recommend the tortilla soup and pork carnitas. We will be back!
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Scottsdale!!! The food is always fantastic and has a very warm cozy feel. The only suggestion would be to make sure the soup is served at the proper temperature. All four of our guests had their world famous tortilla soup. Unfortunately it was just luke warm when it was served
We came for dinner to celebrate my 68th birthday - the food was wonderful - I cook a lot so when I say wonderful I mean just that. My birthday cheesecake was split 4 ways, now I wish I had not split it :) The staff was responsive to our needs and really made the experience fun.
My wife and I came here for her birthday dinner. First timers to the finer dining options out there, despite feeling a bit out of place in an unfamiliar environment the wait staff was courteous, friendly, and patient with us. Food was delicious, drinks were amazing. Highly recommend.
I was very disappointed, I never leave reviews but my experience was awful. Service was terrible, I mean terrible. Our waiter was in Lala land the entire time. I have had a better steak at lone star for $25. I paid $55 for a steak that was full of fat and chewy. $15 for a glass of wine that took 15 minutes to get. I would not recommend to anyone
I enjoyed eating at Roaring Fork. The only reason why this isn't 5 stars is because while the quality of the food is good, I did not feel the quality matched the high(ish) prices charged. I definitely would recommend it as a cute date place or a neat place to get a glass of wine and an appetizer.
WE love coming to the Roaring Fork and this was no exception. Our only minor annoyance was being seated right next to the kitchen. We did as a diner who was also seated near the kitchen and they were happy. We chose not to ask to be reseated and would probably do so in the future. We will come back...great menu, above average service and generally very good.
My only negative was on the service side. Had reservation and the table where they tried to seat us was right next to the kitchen. When I make a reservation i don’t like to have the worst table dumped on us. They moved us.The other thing was weird that the busboys were reaching over us to take extra silverware while we were still eating - this was our first time in the dining room after doing many happy hours that were great.
The event being celebrated was anniversaries for 2 couples and we had been there for our anniversaries several years ago and enjoyed it so much we had to do it again. Our server was so great. When we were seated, he wished us Happy Anniversary. After our meal and getting ready to leave, I asked our server about the red roses that we had been given before and he was surprised that we didn't have them on our table when we were seated. He went back to the kitchen or where they were kept and brought out 2 for us ladies. We were very impressed and delighted. One couple had been married 66 years and my marriage was 65 years.
Thank you for making it a memorable night for us.
We try to get to this restaurant every time we visit Scottsdale. Excellent food, particularly the chicken dishes, and first rate service. Can be on the noisy side, particularly if you are seated near a large group. Also difficult to find unless you know exactly where you are going - it is situated on the ground floor of a large office building and the Scottsdale Road address can be misleading.
