About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Great for happy hour
Roaring Fork is an American Western Bistro. We utilize a combination of ingredients indigenous to the American West and locally grown, including produce, to capture the 'spirit' of the west. The restaurant offers a comfortable, laid back environment that includes friendly professional service and the highest quality food. A great deal of attention is paid in creating the recipes and always using ingredients that are found in the American West. Western cuisine is not a ceremony; it's a celebration! The robust flavors and the courage to try something different is what we are all about. We would like to invite everyone to experience our 'spirit' while enjoying our food and hospitality.

The Roaring Fork's Wood Fired Cooking captures the spirit of bold American cuisine, creating flavors that crackle with a rugged edge. In the Old West, the best food was prepared on a simple wood fire. This same spirit, freshness and flavor are at the heart of every dish we serve.

We have been enjoying the Roaring Fork for three decades; always outstanding food in an aesthetically wonderful setting. We always request seating in the rear of the seating area and prefer a booth, whether it is just two of us or four. Larger groups up to eight and 10 can be seated at round tables. The seating ambience is comfortable with dim lighting. Start out with Manhattan or vodka/tonic and lead into a market salad, which they split and is very generous. Main selection can be salmon, 1/2 chicken, tenderloin with grits or buttermilk chicken with mashed potatoes; absolutely delicious every time. Add in the green chile macaroni and cheese.....a real must. Once split the 22 ounce steak with a friend.......outstanding! Finish the evening with a rootbeer float and you have a marvelous meal and delightful eventing. The staff is always superb! The Roaring Fork, named after the river in Western Colorado, offers Gold Medal Water for trout. The Roaring Fork is a Gold Medal Restaurant! Spend an evening ordering from an outstanding menu, great restaurant ambience and fine service. You will return often with friends who enjoy conversation and delicious drinks and a varied, marvelous menu. Compliments again to the chef and staff.

Having travelled through the US extensively over the last two decades or so, my wife and I have experienced many steakhouses and this one is close to bottom of the pile. Food awful. My steak was tasteless and my wife’s chicken overcooked and dry. If we visit Scottsdale again, we’ll avoid this place.

Food & ambience was ok, expected more, and the menu was a bit boring. The appetizers were tasty but chicken on the Caesar salad was dry and the salmon was under seasoned but cooked well. My green beans were not cooked through, very stiff but not crunchy like raw, it was weird. Our waitress was very friendly but acted a bit awkward and goofy with a slow start. Ultimately she did a good job but that mixed with the underwhelming food made for a disappointing experience. We had a good time together with our visit, just didn’t hit like we thought it was going to.

The best food we had on our trip to Phoenix/Scottsdale! My husband is a steak connoisseur and said this was the best steak he’s ever eaten!

The overall experience was very nice. The only downside was the table we were at was very dark. There was very little lighting which made it difficult to read the menu.
