Celebrating New job!
Nice atmosphere but a little on the noisier side as we were there closer to closing and the cleaning was rather noisy. Service was fantastic and the food was delicious and cooked perfectly.
Food was very good as usual but the service was inconsistent
My husband and I agree...this was probably the best steak we had ever had in our lives. He had the bone-in rib eye which was rare with the most perfect sear on the outside. I had the small filet which was the most tender thing ever. We started the meal with the Kettle of Green Chili Pork and chose the Green Chili Mac and Cheese and Mexican Street Corn as our sides.
Our waiter was perfect. There when we needed him, invisible the rest of the time. We weren't rushed out and truly enjoyed our food and each other's company.
I would go out of my way to eat here again and will tell anyone to do the same.
This restaurant was "okay". We needed reservations the day of and they were very nice to accommodate a party of five at such a late notice. They have quite a few tables. Our server was very nice and prompt. We ordered several appetizers that were decent, nothing special. The ravioli was more of an Asian style than Italian. One member of our party enjoyed his steak. The rest of us said our meals were "fine", nothing special. We would not choose this restaurant again, but they were good in a pinch.
Visiting Austin with my mother for a couple days to attend my cousin’s wedding and decided to try the Roaring Fork. It was great choice! Perfect ambiance, awsome bar, good fish tacos and had the yummy Creme Brulee. But the best part of our time there was our friendly and very helpful waiter Megan! Megan has to be the best sever there hands down! No disrespect to the other wait staff but she is that good! Attentive and thorough and very friendly. She made sure everything was to our liking. If I lived in Austin I would be a regular.
This wasn't our first time to Roaring Fork on Congress as it's one of our favorite restaurants in downtown Austin. As usual, the service and the food were exceptional. This time Michelle seated us and visited our table more than once to make sure that everything was satisfactory. Cliff was our server. He was very friendly and did a phenomenal job to ensure our orders were served perfectly and timely. The food was as expected - perfectly prepared and delicious. Overall, a terrific experience. We always recommend Roaring Fork to others planning an evening in Austin.
Great food, atmosphere and location!
The waiter staff was excellent, but I preferred more courtesy from the front door staff. They didn’t have enough people at the front door for what should have been an expected rush. It was early, but Moontower Comedy Fest was occurring and shows started at 7 pm.
THE POWER WENT OUT AND THEY SHUT IT ALL DOWN I WOULD LIKE COMPENSATION
The brief time we spent at the Roaring Fork was great. Our waitress was fabulous and the mussels appetizer delicious! However, the power went out before we could get our main meals so alas...cannot review any more. We were looking forward to a delicious meal but it wasn't to be :(
We went for a business meal, and I do not want to give a bad review, but the power went completely out while we had been waiting on our food for a good while. We sat in complete darkness for about 20 minutes before they came to tell us our food would not be coming. I had a group of 7 so it was difficult to find somewhere else to get us in. I have been there before so I was very excited to take this group from out of town and the experience was not a great one. We had to scramble to go somewhere else and did not end up eating until after 9pm after we had to find another restaurant that would take us (We had reservations at 6 there!)
I was disappointed, but we did have a wonderful waitress who did all she could. We were disappointed when she came over to ask us to write down our credit card information to pay for the drinks we had ordered...the Management did not even attempt to offer any discount or anything for the trouble. For such a nice place, I can't believe they would not attempt to accommodate, we did not even get to eat and had wasted 2 hours there and were very hungry when we left.
As a business owner myself, I would have gone above and beyond if this situation. When you don't, people will not come back.
I totally understand these things happen and they are out of your control (no business wants to loose power) BUT how you handle it determines the experience people have and their thoughts about your restaurant.
Excellent and friendly service. The food was fantastic. My group had the salmon, pork tenderloin, and roasted chicken. The pork tenderloin -- with cheese grits and Mexican street corn -- was amazing! We also shared roasted asparagus, which was good, if a tiny bit over done. We finished with cappuccino that was delicious, just a hint of cinnamon. The margaritas are great too! Lovely meal that we all enjoyed. We did get a booth in a back corner as the restaurant was very busy and quite loud. It worked out great .
We were in town for work and saw RF in Time Out. What a cool place that is! The service was great, food amazing... atmosphere super cool. From parties to date night, Austin has a gem.
Filet was excellent as was the salmon! Very nice, moderately priced meal.
Food was delicious! Steaks were prepared perfectly and waiter ensured they were cooked to our liking. Great location too!
We were to Austin on business and had dinner at the Roaring Fork. The staff were amazing from our initial seats at the bar to dinner. Our waiter gave recommendations for dinner. The Redfish was absolutely amazing! Fresh, spicy, healthy and appropriate portions. The service was excellent! The waiter checked in occasionally but left us alone to continue our conversation.
LOVED the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon with grits and mexican corn! Our server was excellent and suggested heading upstairs for our nightcap where you can see the paramount sign and capitol lit up behind it.
We ate here twice recently. Food and service were very good on both occasions. Busy with good buzz but not distracting. Tables well spaced; restaurant has a variety of spaces. Excellent value for money.
Just an awesome place!
One of the best dinners I had in Austin.
Loud, tables very close together! Good wasn't as good as usually.
Waited 10-15 for wait staff to show up. Apologized and manager came over and gave us free appetizer. Then they were out of the entree I ordered. Usually very good but not their best day this visit
A very nice restaurant downtown. The food was very good and the service was outstanding. We often eat here when we are in town. We enjoy having a drink at the Driskill bar and then walking across the street for dinner. We had the Rainbow trout and blackened Redfish. Both were very good.
The place is usually packed so the noise level is as expected. We will definitely go back.
Very loud, obnoxiously loud. Food was horrible and over cooked. Both took one bite of our meals, waitress was going to remake and we simply said no. We would pay for our drinks and leave, they charged us nothing and we left. Not impressed at all.
Roaring Fork is a fantastic restaurant for special occasions, dates, etc. We had friends visiting from NYC and when they come in town, we always go somewhere nice for dinner. The food was outstanding, as was our server. Best Rib Eye I've ever had, and their green chile mac and cheese was fantastic. Would highly recommend!
Waiter was unconscious but the food was great.
The food was excellent. So tasty. Service was awesome. Setting was romantic and comfortable. We had a great time. We both agreed it was the best tasting meal we had while visiting Austin.
I brought a couple to have dinner there since I’d heard really good things about it, and because it was so close to their hotel. From the valet service to the waitstaff the personnel could not have been better. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the too low lighting for seeing the menu and the noise level. We had reservations and I thought our location was going to be great, but after about a half hour it was too loud! My friends really enjoyed the place, though, so that was great!
For my wife and my wedding anniversary, we chose Roaring Fork Downtown, as we were attending a performance at the Paramount Theater, so it was a very convenient one street corner away. Our OpenTable reservation was honored and we were seated. Our wines were both excellent, in particular a great recommendation from our waiter was the Amici Pinot Noir, which went well with our bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin. Though it was a typical busy Friday night, we did not feel rushed or ignored. A very pleasant evening before the performance.
Roaring Fork is always excellent! We always split the green chili mac n cheese and the green chili pork between two people. YUM!!
Absolutely amazing. I went with 6 friends for my birthday, we had a reservation at 8 and the table before us was taking their time, we were seated by 8:30 and the managers comped our appetizers. It was a wonderful experience and worth the wait. Great drinks and amazing food. I will definitely be back!
Awesome food. Great service. Could see this for a group of friends, date or business get together
I went out with a friend to celebrate my birthday. The food was good, it wasn’t really loud, and the waitress was very attentive and friendly. Great experience!
Open Table made it convenient and quick to book a reservation on the same day we found out we would be in Austin. Roaring Fork is a favorite of ours because of the braised beef ribs and the accommodating wait staff. No ribs on the menu that night, but we were highly satisfied with our choices. Never disappointed by this place!
My wife and I celebrated our 22nd anniversary here and everything was perfect! Great food and a pleasant atmosphere. I highly recommend it for date night of any special occasion.
Not much seating in the bar area if you are waiting for a table.
Tomahawk steak was perfectly cooked and is great for sharing. Asparagus & Mac & Cheese good too.
Excellent food and terrific service!
