Roaring Fork - Downtown, Congress Ratings and Reviews
This is a great spot for a date night. My husband and I have come twice now. Once for our anniversary and once for belated Valentine's celebrations. We've had great service both times, and the atmosphere is romantic without being over the top. The food is always top notch. Would recommend to a friend or someone from out of town in a heartbeat!
Mussels in chorizo broth, great
Date salad. Really good.
Roast chicken, good, dressing dry.
Trout, butterflied and really dry. A butter sauce was brought to try to help but still dry. Sent back.
Very apologetic. Offered to replace but declined.
Offered a card with money on it but only here a few days.
I have mixed feelings about this place. It was nice & food tasted great. The waiter wasn't very attentive, but I'll give him a break since it was busy. The food was a bit overpriced for what you get. And most entrees do not come with a side, that's extra. The menu is a bit sparse, but most things on there i personally would order...but that's me.
This didnt go towards the rating... However, a family of 5 (3 kids) decided to go to a nice restaurant with an older infant that kept crying. If you can afford expensive restaurant prices + parking, then you can afford a babysitter...just sayin'. It's inconsiderate to put the other patrons (there for a nationally recognized DATE NIGHT, who did go to all the time & expense to hire a babysitter) thru your kiddo chaos. I know this wasn't the restaurants fault - they can't ban kids on Valentines...LOL.
Visited Roaring Fork with a group of coworkers. The food was absolutely amazing and our waitress provided great feedback for drink and food options, when asked. I ordered the filet and it was perfectly done. I would highly recommend the date salad and green chile Mac and cheese too! Also, a member of our group had a birthday and our server brought out a cheesecake dessert big enough for the entire table to share. It was a great dining experience and I would definitely recommend the restaurant to others.
This is our second time dining here. Had Caesar salad and chicken tortilla soup. Very generous portions and delicious!!! Great selection of wine. Free dessert on birthdays! I chose the flourless chocolate cake to share between three of us. It was amazing! My favorite Austin meal!
They knocked it out of the park tonight...excellent service, outstanding meal ( they didn't even cheat by adding excess amounts of cream and butter...) lovely ambiance. This place has been around for a while but it's got as much charm as any of the new places in town.
Excellent 12 oz bone in filet shared with spouse melts in your mouth seasoned perfectly - literally one of the best steaks we have ever tasted - Mexican corn mashed potatoes sautéed mushrooms all ala Carte sides can feed 4 adults so plan to share - fresh cherry pie is made on site magnificent - basil lime martini crisp and refreshing -
Can’t wait to visit Austin and Roaring Fork again
We love Roaring Fork. Just had a bad experience this time around where our food took nearly an hour to get to us. We were in no hurry, but when it did get to us, it was cold for three out of the four of us. One of our group members sent her food back, but the other two of us chose to eat it. My burger wasn't as good as it has been in the past and that's most likely because it sat out for a good while. It was not particularly busy at the time, so maybe it was just a mistake on the staff's part. I'm not holding this against the restaurant because we've always had great experiences there. This was just an unfortunate case, hopefully. The staff did offer us half off all of our meals which was a nice gesture on their part.
Great restaurant to go to before any downtown event. You definitely need a reservation though or you won't get a table. Possible to eat at bar, though. They understand that you need to go to an event so they accommodate well. Excellent wait staff. I love the salads and my guy loves the main entrees!
In town for business and my hotel was nearby the UT Campus and wanted a location nearby. Found good reviews of this restaurant on GOOGLE and YELP and the reviews were not wrong. The food was incredible (grilled rainbow trout and sautéed green beans). The cornbread muffins as the pre-snack was excellent.
Our group just kind of ended up here after reading reviews. We were totally blown away with everything. The food and service were incredible. Do NOT pass on the mac and cheese. Request to sit with Leah. She was awesome and definitely added to the dining experience. Thank you, Leah!
Went here for date night and it was absolutely spectacular. The food was amazingly delicious and with really good sized portions. Our waiter Lauren was wonderful with great recommendations and service. We will definitely ask for his section again. All in all, we can't believe we hadn't been there before and can't wait to get back.
Great service but I was dissatisfied with our seat selection. We were seated between 2 tables with babies which was distracting. We also were disappointed finding that the HH prices were not available for the dining area. Other than that, the food and service was great!
