The experience was fabulous. A big Thank you to our server Suzanne Roberts she knew the menu inside out and help with selections. We came for the bone marrow and it did not disappoint. Great service, delicious food, interesting ambiance, great lighting.
Great food but loud in the restaurant and slow service.
Good, slow service, esp for a business lunch. Nice atmosphere and food was delicious.
Good as usual sad to hear that they were closing
The restaurant is closing as of 10/7, and this was the last "special/guest chef" nights featurning a menu by Adam Sobel, the chef who got RN74 its highest ever review in 2014. The food, presentation and ambiance were exceptional. The culinary highlight was Frogs Legs a la Troisgros, which Adam told me, was a replica of what he ate in 2004 at Troisgros in Roanne, France. Exceptional taste, superb mix of spices: shallots, lemon, toasted cumin, and wonderful almost miniature frog's legs. It was a great way for a good restaurant, with great wine combinations, to go out on top.
Great value for high end food! Too bad they’re replacing this wonderful French bistro with a barbeque eatery.
I've lived in the Bay Area for 7 years now and am ashamed to say that last night was my first time there, despite walking by it daily for the last two years en route to work. I'm ashamed because the filet I had ranked among the top 3 of my life - perfectly cooked and melting in my mouth - and the au poivre style is NOT to be missed. Pricy but worth it; ambiance great too. Get here.
There were 4 of us dining at the that day. 2 of us used gift vouchers from Travel Zoo and other 2 ordered from the menu.
Voucher food was not worth the money, well, desert was actually good. Appetizer were actually very good, salad was sour and I cannot find another word to describe it. We ordered 3 different main dishes (2 PAN-ROASTED MARY’S POULET, HERB-STEAMED HALIBUT and GARDEN VEGETABLE RATATOU ILLE TARTE. None of them was worth the money.
Service and food presentation were excelled.
The restaurant is closing so it is a moot point to review. Will miss it. On my last visit, had to wait 40 minutes for our entree. During the lunch hour, so it wasn't a good experience.
Excellent Service had a great time
Food was great .
I saw some debry in my Burbon and I had to ask them to change my drink ( looks like mosquito ).
We had very hard time to find a parking spot around this restaurant . We spent almost 40 minutes to find a parking about three blocks away from this restaurant . I recommend this restaurant if you do not need to drive in the city otherwise find a restaurant with value .
Again My steak was great .
Brought a friend here for the first time, I wanted her to experience a great restaurant as I have over the years before it closed on October 2, 2017. It was a great evening, and can't wait to come back to visit International Smoke.
Everything was delicious and you get great wine choices. The vegetable tart was amazing, it could turn me into a vegetarian! I love that there are several choices of ½ glasses of wine! I have been here a few times and will miss this place!
Had to make it to RN74 before its closing. Very good, but not necessarily great food. Superb simple green salad, perfectly dressed. Filet was good but not exceptional. Excellent wine tasting opportunities.
I'll miss you RN74
Great place. The decor is gorgeous. Too bad Michael Mina is closing this down so Ayesha Curry will be opening an upscale BBQ. Heard they will partner up. We will see how this turns out.
Not very French nor Burgundian. A warm glass of Provence rose to start did not things well
Excellent food and knowledgeable staff that can recommend fantastic dishes. The most unique Indian fare I have tasted. Definitely need to try this place out.
Wine was expensive
Portions are very small for the price. Quality and taste not that good considering the price. Beef tartare had too many pickles in it and was overbearing on the beef flavor. The "famous" duck wings were just ok. Sort of tasted like Chinese roast duck but 3x as expensive. The chicken in the coq au vin was overcooked and dry. The halibut didn't taste very fresh and was too salty throughout. Tasted like salted cod instead of a fresh halibut fillet.
Service was attentive at times, but inconsistent. Super attentive in the beginning but food and drinks took a long time to get out and then we waited forever for the check. They even forgot our 2nd wine order and played it off like we never even ordered it.
Just delightful. Enjoyable evening with friends. Great food and service
One of the best restaurants in SF. Every dish was beautiful, creative and delicious! So sorry that it is closing and then reopening as a different type of restaurant.
we know you're closing, we are trying to get in every last moment.
RN74 is always good but this was a little less spectacular than previous times. My favorite dish - bone marrow - was ok. Also the main course menu was a little lacking. Just seems like they have lost a little something there.
Fun bistro atmosphere, great Burgundy Pinot , informed and timely service, seating a little tight, roasted foire gras paired well with jam, just right filet, refreshing peach Malba desert, overall very nice dinner out!
enjoyed it. we've been there before and it was very consistent. Great food and excellent service.
Overpriced for good food. Wine list was exceptionally not value oriented
The food was amazing. Everything tasted amazing, it had that special extra effort that really hit the spot! I highly recommend the lemon curd and the stone fruit salad.
Service was slow and not up to me at with the prices or the type of restaurant. I actually enjoyed the waiter he was just slow and we had to ask several times for things.
There is no place to park. They need to bring back valet parking.
The service that Marco and his associates gave us was superb and the food was amazing!
It had been a while since we had been to RN 74, so we dined on a Saturday after a day in the city. When we arrived, it was virtually empty, although it was a bit early (it did fill up by the time we left.) We learned it will be closing in a few months, to make way for a rib joint. We’ll miss the place. We love the décor with the wine listings as if in a European rail station of old. The service makes no mistakes and the wait staff is friendly and helpful. The food, which has move decidedly French brasserie, is wonderful – we had cheese filled beignets, butter lettuce and stone fruit/buratta salads, the roast chicken (to die for), halibut, some cheeses, and lemon cruellers. But it’s the incredible selection of wines that is the star of RN 74. Until closing, they’re running wine special – you tell them the price you’d like to pay and they will pick out a wine that cost the restaurant that amount. We had a wonderful bottle of Volnay under the special. Wine lovers should run to the place while it sells out its cellar.
A great place for business lunches - creative interior with a delicious menu that never fails to please. The noise level allows for comfortable conversation and the service is commendable.
The six course tasting menu was Ok. The pacing was terrible! First 3 courses came within 15 minutes of ordering. The last 3 courses were 30 minutes apart. Over an hour and a half for last three courses terrible!
First time in SF in many years. Heard good and wine program were excellent and we agree!
This was our first visit to RN74 and it was a wonderful experience. The food is delicious and expertly prepared. The portions of bone marrow and the duck wings were huge. We chose the filet au poivre style, which was cooked to perfection! Our waiter was Bryce and he took great care of us. The only downside is the tables are very close together. Luckily, we dined late enough that no one was sitting next to us. They have an excellent wine list, too.
Tres bon bistronone français dommage pour les quantités qui peuvent être revu à la hausse sauf pour le steak qui est toujours une expérience extra au USA
The bone marrow and wine were excellently paired!
The chicken dish was so good - highly recommend. The reduced sauce had this very concentrated flavor and pleasant texture that went well with everything. Service was good and friendly, but a bit slow due to the number of tables our server was managing.
