RN74 - Seattle Ratings and Reviews
Our dining experience at RN74 was magnificent all the extra touches were so heartfelt and appreciated. When we sat down there was a hand written card wishing us a happy anniversary, followed by champagne and more anniversary wishes. Our dishes, tartare, duck & steak were delicious, a great combination of flavors. Towards the end of our meal we were surprised again with an add on dessert with a candle and more well wishes. The restaurant is beautiful, food is delicious but all the extra touches truly made our dinner extra special - thsnk you RN74.
I wasn't sure what to expect what with the mixed reviews, but overall was very pleased. The food was delicious (beet endive salad, French onion soup, duck) though the food should have been served a little hotter. Service was good and friendly. We had an appointment for 7 pm. I called at 6:10 pm, after being kicked out of the Seattle Art Museum due to closing, and they accommodated us coming in about 30 minutes early.
We really enjoyed the vibe of this restaurant. The food was very good but on the expensive side. We decided to order a bunch of appetizers to make it a small-plate experience and that worked out well. They had a wide variety of wines and their ‘last bottle’ list was on the old train station schedule ‘ticker’ boards. So cool!
The ambiance and food was delicious. We had the truffle bread, steak tartar, Brussels sprouts, mushroom fricasee and salmon. They were wonderful. The service was very slow. We had allowed 2 hours for a good arty of 9 and told our waitress we had a show to catch. The drinks were still painfully slow even though the bar was not busy and food was slow. When it did finally arrive it was fantastic.
I’ve been to RN74 before and remember liking the food, but my husband and I went for NYE dinner and we were sooo disappointed with the quality of food and exorbitant price tag. The fixed menu was nothing special at $115. My husband ordered the regular fixed menu and I ordered the vegetarian option. My main course was lentils and mushroom. Neither impressive nor did it taste good. Please explain to me how that justifies $115! We felt ripped off but excused it since it was New Year’s Eve. In hindsight, we decided we were ripped off and wouldn’t come back.
What a great way to start off NewYears Eve. The tasting menu was awesome. I cannot decide between the SLOW-ROASTED TURBOT A LA CANCALAISE or the NIMAN RANCH PRIME DRY-AGED NEW YORK STRIP LION as the best OK both no actually all dishes were superb. The Grande Wine Pairings were spot on, very impressive. The Chateau de Beaucastel, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône Valley, FR 1998 was particularly awesome with the New York Strip Loin. The chef Gary FX Lamorte was kind enough to come to our table and I complemented him and his staff on the excellent presentation and the taste of courses. If in Seattle, you must visit RN74.
Delicious. Probably the best chicken I have ever enjoyed except for the chicken leg (coq uu vin) and the leg only was a little on the dry side. Lovely Birthday wishes when we arrived and birthday dessert treat because we were so stuffed we didn't really order dessert. Had a decent wine pairings. Definitely suggest talking to the sommelier vs. waitress for wine suggestions. Sommelier was considerate and attentive. Did they assume we couldn't afford a nicer wine? That was a little weird they suggested a more price friendly when it wasn't the genuinely best pairing -- a couple choices might have been a little sweeter. And, given it was Christmas Eve, service was good but not amazing -- had to wait a while to order wine pairing for meal and for the check. But was a great table, great experience. Yum. I'd do that again!
Belated anniversary dinner in December. There was no problem canceling our original reservation (when someone got sick), and they were very gracious when circumstances brought us to this reservation 20 minutes late (we called ahead to let them know - politeness works both ways!). The waiter was personable and helpful. Although he pushed our dinners through in order for us to make theatre reservations, it still took forever and we had to pay our bill before we finished dinner. Food was great. Surprising number of people with young children, but kudos to the adults for actually making them behave.
Great sharable dishes - they even split the French Onion Soup into two bowls for you (so you can try other yummy things on the menu). Second visit here - great wine list, fun cocktails, unique dishes (loved the duck!) and friendly staff. Great vibe - kinda spendy but great special occasion spot!
Our service was incredibly slow. She didn't seem concerned about it. It wasn't very busy, but she liked to disappear for 30-45 minutes at a time. Rarely if ever checked on us. When I had to go looking for her because we had been seated for over 30 minutes and no one ever even said "hello", she wasn't too concerned. I'm sure her tip reflected how poor the service was. I've been here many times. I'll not allow them to seat us in her section again.
Absolutely one of the best meals we've EVER had anywhere! Thomas is a culinary genius and is infusing the menu with exciting dishes and great local ingredients, a foodie and wine lover destination! Best food I think RN74 has ever had, if you haven't tried it, go, and the wine somm's are the best! Fabulous service, fun vibe, now one of our favorite spots!
Food was great! Food was great! Had to say it twice. I dont usually give reviews but i felt it was worth a few words. Service was good, could have been better. There is a fine line between attentiveness and and bugging people. Could have been checked on a few more times. We were also under a time limit as we were going to a show afterward. In the future i would have given a half an hour more. In all was a great experience! Love the idea of fine dining with no dress code! Really comfortable atmosphere!
I had wanted to try RN74 for years!!! Finally had the chance for my birthday get together of 11 people. What a disappointment! The decor is nice but that’s about it. Service sucked... took 30 minutes for the waiter to even take our order. When the appetizers and entrees came out, they were given to the wrong people. My cousin kept waiting for her appetizer and come to find out, the waiter had brought it to the opposite end of the table. My entree came out lukewarm. For the price you’re paying, you would expect amazing food and incredible service. Everything except the fries was just ok or lacking. Nothing memorable. My friend ordered dessert for me and when the check came out, the waiter put it on my check. My brother told the waiter he would pay for my portion. After processing all the ttransactions, the waiter came back and told me he did not receive my payment for my dinner. Truly a memorable birthday dinner...
We dine at the nicer restaurants in Seattle and always have lovely experiences with food and service. I made the reservation because we wanted to try a new restaurant which seemed to fit our criteria.
We were quite disappointed.
The set up of the restaurant is uncomfortable. The booths are situated in the middle of the bar area, making it difficult to have a conversation or have the feeling of being in a fine restaurant. For the steep prices, I would have preferred a table in a dining room.
It took quite some time for the waitress to acknowledge us. Then we had to ask for water more than once.
The food was okay, but certainly not worth the price.
The front of house staff was rude when we arrived a few minutes early for our reservation, then we had to wait more than 25 minutes beyond our 8:30 reservation for a table. They brought us complimentary appetizers, but it was a little too little too late. Food overall was very good, extensive wine list, ambiance is great... just missed the mark on service
If you’ve got hours to kill, this is your spot. Went in around 8pm on a Friday night with an 8:15 reservation and since 6+ tables were visibly empty assumed I could get seated early. Was told they were “getting the table set” and it would be a couple minutes early. After a drink at the bar we were brought over to our table at 8:40, which was the same table that was set and ready since 8pm.
From there it got even slower, with horrible service and inattentive and unfriendly staff. Our 2 course dinner (we skipped dessert) lasted until 10:45....pretty pathetic.
The food was nominally above par and over priced. Wish I went to a chain like Capital Grille were I know I would have been taken care off.
Solid "A". Food was very good and service was thorough. Definitely recommend. A little louder than I personally expected but it was still comfortable.
Perhaps most important, they were extremely gracious. We were significantly late for our reservation... 30mins late on a Saturday evening (in December!)... and they seated us without a problem.
