Fantastic service great food, it’s a definite go again.
Server was patient with our two kids and helpful with the wine list. Thanks! Food was well prepared
FANTASTIC food, AMAZING service, FABULOUS wine and cocktails... we love this place!
We visit Seattle once a year, and every year doing the Tasting Menu with Wine Pairing at RN74 is a MUST. Can't say enough great things about this restaurant! The customer service is top notch, and the food excellent!
while a bit pricey it was worth it. Excellent in every way
One of the best meals we’ve had — and that’s coming from two foodies! The seasonal salad was delicious and refreshing, the halibut bouillabaisse was to die for, and the steak was absolutely perfect. I’d give RN74 six stars if I could!
This place never disappoints, one of my favorite places in Seattle. Knowledgable staff highlights beautiful food. I also love the endless wine options and their ability to help you find the perfect match for your food and your pocketbook.
My wife and I drive to Seattle from Vancouver several times per year to dine at RN74. It is always a great experience. The food and wine are always amazing. A special thank you to our server Jim and the sommelier Paul for making our night memorable.
Service was outstanding. They didn't rush us. Atmosphere is good.
We celebrated our 10yr Anniversary at RN74 after a hiking trip to Mount Rainier. The Chef’s Experience meal was outstanding. The Service was fantastic! We will definitely return to RN74 the next time we are in Seattle.
Very romantic seating with an outstanding meal. We have the hamachi crudo to start and then the strip and salmon. OMG to the chef and all of the wonderful flavors that were presented. Paired with a wine list that is unbelievable and a waiter who was awesome and you have a great night out.
The food was surprisingly lacking flavor and the flavors that were present were unexpected and overpowering. The servers were contiencious and attentive however in our book you simply can’t overlook poorly executed food when going to a restaurant and spending quite a bit of money. We had the filet and the pork chop.
RN74 delivered. We had a 3 course meal special from Travelzoo and had great service and great food. Our server was great and the sommelier helped us develop a perfect pairing for our different courses. We started with the mussels, which were rather large, but delicious paired with a Sauv Blanc. Then to the Foie Gras with a flight of 3 sweet wines, Austrian, Tokay, and Sauterne, all to die for. I had the steak which was perfectly cooked and paired with a nice Cab, my wife also had the steak but was paired with a great Syrah. We finished with a cheese plate for dessert and finished our sweet wines with it. A perfect meal and evening.
For how much this place charges, this was one of the worst dining experiences in the city. The food was way over priced, the steak I got was a thin piece of new york strip that was over cooked and had pieces of gristle and silver skin, and it cost $50. We also had the steak tartare which had way too much going on including way too much mayo, capers, fried onions, and garnished with radishes. The service was even worse. When I'm spending $50 for just a steak plus sides and drinks, I except service and some help and compassion. Instead our server walked around with a scowl on his face and being extremely short with everything. When I mentioned that I did not like enjoy my steak, no apologies were said, he simply picked it up and took it back and then brought it out boxed up. He followed this up by just walking up and without a word just putting down a few desert menus in front of us and walking away.
I still left a 15% tip just because I know the servers share their tips with the busters and the kitchen, otherwise I would not have
Was yet another great meal and service. While the lamb was good it was the marriage of the peas and mint sauce that took the plate over the top.
We have lived overseas and been to France many many times. Simply because you refer to yourself as a french restaurant, doesn't mean you jack the prices up. In our opinion the meals were overpriced in comparison to the quality of what we received.
We are semi-regular at RN74, have been for about 3 years, and will continue to be. The staff and service are generally very good, and the bartenders usually knowledgeable, and willing to collaborate on cocktails, which is fun. The food quality is consistent high. With all that said, every time we go, we feel somewhat abused by the food prices. They are high, for mostly very small portions.
Fabulous, great restaurant choice in the downtown area.
Great experience from start to finish. Bartenders are on the ball during happy hour, the somm was very helpful and gave us multiple options in the region/price range, food and service were A+ as usual. Will definitely return.
Solid tasting menu. Excellent deserts. Would be back again.
I went to dinner here with some girlfriends and we had high hopes given the menu and the positive reviews. Sadly, it's one of the worst meals/dining experiences I've had in years. The waitress was rude, the service was terrible, and the food was mediocre given the price point.
Excellent waiter and busboy service. We thought the wine steward used a put down on us when we said that we were not looking for a $100. or more bottle of wine. Also, he dropped us like a hot potato once we settled in on our wine. Next time we heard or saw him was to bring us our incorrectly prepared bill. Once I pointed that out he disappeared forevermore. As for the food, really first rate. Beautifully prepared and presented and wonderful to eat. Our excellent waiter was helpful in selecting a few of our dishes and in preparing them to be shared. I've gone beyond being intimidated by some sommelier. Fortunately our wonderful meal was not ruined by his attempt at a discrete put down.
Absolutely fantastic. Incredible food. Wine selection is the best I’ve seen in a long time. Jeff the Sommolier helped us find the perfect bottle as well as paired a couple courses for us. Our server Vinny is the best of the best. I worked in the restaurant business for a long time, and worked at a three star Michelin restaurant way back when. So I’m very picky. This guy knows his stuff! Definitely ask for him. Staff was completely on point. Chef Griese is the man. Highly recommend this restaurant. I will be back to enjoy another great evening.
Wife’s 40th Birthday
We love RN74! The food is interesting and delicious with layers of flavor that develop with each bite. Friendly staff that know when to engage or be stealthy with their service. Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough!
Great time - will be back
Great place to enjoy unique eats from horderves to a great meal with excellent wine selection for an overall good value.
The tasting experiences was very good, very interesting and innovative dishes. It took a bit too long inbetween courses.
Nice wine selection
Food is ok
Servers are nice and friendly
We had a fantastic dinner. Asparagus appetizer was superb. Service was great
We heard that it would be hard to find great dining in downtown Seattle. They were wrong! Fantastic night of food and wine. Great wine list and a knowledgeable and friendly Sommelier. They had a laid back serving style (very French?) which we enjoyed. Felt like we had the table all night if we could manage to eat more. We left totally satisfied and will look forward to going back on our next overnighter to Seattle.
We had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. It was a great choice -- the tasting menu let us try several things (corn agnolotti, pea veloute) that probably wouldn't have been our default order but which turned out to be excellent. Indeed, the vegetable dishes were some of our favorites of the evening, which is not usually something I can say at a French restaurant. The wine pairings were varied and interesting. RN74 is a fun place, though it gets *very loud* when the bar fills up with people.
We took some old and treasured out of town guests here for dinner very recently and had an unexpectedly great meal. Everything was really delicious. Our waiter was just great too-- good service and while he seemed at first a bit remote but when we engaged him in conversation, he was full of interesting commentary and joviality. Nice to have that interaction, and clearly he knew the offerings there, both food and wine. We will definitely go back, and I hope soon and often. It's one of the top food experiences we've had in Seattle.
Exceptionally good food, from truffle butter baguette to superb lapin with excellent service. Would rank among the best restaurants we have eaten at recently except for the noise level and the intimate placement of the tables. We were next to a couple clearly in the early stages of a relationship in which the man had a voice that really carried. Our enjoyment of the food, service and wine list--all of which were excellent and interesting---was somewhat marred by learning rather more about the occupants of the adjoining table than we really wanted to know. This cheek-by-jowl seating arrangement is very New York and not all that typically Southern Californian which is our native habitat as it were. I understand the economics of it, but given a choice of equivalent restaurants, I do try and avoid it.
RN74 live up to its reputation for our party of four. The large salads and French onion soup was wonderful. My pasta and duck dish exploded with flavor. The others in my party ordered salmon and were glad they did. Service, like the food was excellent. The uniquely prepared dishes were a treat for all of us.
Food was phenomenal. Annie has superior customer service skills. Overall. = WONDERFUL
Everything was perfection ! Exceeded expectations!!
Fun fresh food with outside the box options. Server knew the food and the som knew his wines, good teamwork. The food was fantastically paired with our wine and made the night so fun! Will return for the tasting menu next time in Seattle.
We really want to like this restaurant more, and have been many times. The space has great potential and some really cool features like the old fashioned train station sign on the wall with wine offerings. Unfortunately, we never have as much fun as we should. This last time we went on Bastille Day, thinking there would be a festive French atmosphere. It turns out that they had an event during the day only, which ended at 5pm and evening service was the standard fare. There were some service hiccups, fine with us, but what bothered us was the lack of energy and friendliness. The staff seemed very disconnected, from the hostess to the back of the house. The food is not cheap, and at the end of the experience, not worth it. We hope they can up their game.
It was phenomenal!! Escargots, Foie Gras, Oysters, Halibut!!!
We were two couples who came here for the restaurant’s Bastille Day celebration. We actually had an early reservation (6:15 pm) and were excited to partake in any chef specials. Our server was very attentive and friendly. However the downside of the entire evening was that we were told they were out of mussels. While this is seemingly not a big deal, it turns out that SEVERAL of the entrees FEATURE mussels. Most of the entree selections our group wanted listed mussels. For example, we asked our sever how the mussels bouillabaisse would be prepared. You could tell he was embarrassed and his response was “well, ummmm... it will have maybe a bit more clams.” One of us tried that dish and it was basically a bowl full of clams. So it was a major disappointment. We all talked how running out of a feature ingredient at 6pm (on Bastille Day) might be remedied by simply running to Whole Foods and getting 10 pounds of mussels! Or even Safeway.
The restaurant never filled up with lots of empty tables on which should be the biggest day for a French restaurant. So it seems that this place’s best days were in the past. That would explain why they had last minute seating for just about every 15 minute increment on Open Table when we booked. We likely won’t be back which is too bad as it was a hopping place when we visited a year ago.
