Our table suck there was water under the table all over the place service was slow and even forgot half out food !! I keep giving this place the benefit of the doubt but it always disappoint me in some way ! At least our serve did everything she could to accommodate us !
I was disappointed with how quick the food service was, it made it feel as if they were trying to simply turn our table over for the next guests. Within five minutes of ordering or meals (we didn't order an app) our meal was delivered to us. The meal was only moderately warm at best and clearly not made fresh or even given the impression of being made fresh. There is no way that a lasagne bolgnese or chicken parm dish could be completed in about five minutes. It was very disappointing as we spent $20 on each pasta dish and had a bill of $70 after tip. We were there for Valentines Day and we will not be returning in the future.
We are locals, we walk to all restaurants that West Hartford center and blue back has to offer. We don't go to Rizzutos too offer because there are better choices. We love brunch and have been to every restaurant in an area for a brunch. Past Sunday derided to give Rizzutos a chance...... there is a reason why we don't go there. Very slow service. We were sitting at a table for 10 min until someone stop by and they were not busy at all. Food was nothing special. Manager stoped by our table to see how everything was holding dirty dishes, gross...
Anyway, ok place to go if there is nothing else around, but not when there are so many other options.
I was planning a smaller get together which turned into a party of 6 and was happy Rizzutos let me book the larger party on open table app. As indicated, the noise level was definitely energetic, as this was on a Sat. nite around 6. THey have a mixture of some booths, tables with chairs and bar stools for seating. The format is open kitchen so you can see the cooks actively working. There is a nice counter in front of this scene which also included a pizza oven. None of my party had eaten there before. Most of us ordered from the pasta "your way" where you pick pasta, sauce, protein, and other things such as veggies. THe place does wood fired pizza as well. Overall, the food was tasty, served hot and in a timely manner. The wait staff never forgot about us but would pop over after extended periods which doesn't always work well. For example, as we got our pasta and had to ask if there was any grated cheese? If we didn't ask I am sure no one would have bothered to handle this. The pizza-eater gave it a thumbs up, it looked like a slightly thicker crust than a typical Italian thin crust pie, dinner plate size. Only real negative is it would be nice to get some complimentary bread served beforehand. Serving sizes were not gigantic and will hit the spot if you are hungry, but you aren't having it for lunch tomorrow. None of us had dessert, but from what I could see the waitstaff carrying the desserts were generous and done well.
Food was good, not great. Started out with the cheese, meat and veggie platter. Enjoyed that very much, although it took forever to come to the table. Once the main dishes came out, no one cleared the appetizer and left it there the entire dinner, although it was empty. Dishes were good. Pasta a la Vodka was very tomato based with not much creaminess. Potato pizza was ok. Got the gluten free crust which seemed store bought and not very good. Toppings were good. Kids had sword fish and pasta. Both liked their dishes but weren't wowed.
Service was slow and lacked that personal touch.
Our party of 10 dined at Rizzuto's for a working dinner meeting. We were seated in a private area and treated like VIP. Veronica was a very attentive and friendly server. We ordered apps and pizza. Everything came out fast and was tasty. We could not eat everything that we had ordered so we had plenty of leftovers; yet, a very reasonable bill. I always leave Rizzuto's very satisfied.
My husband and I dined at Rizzuto’s on a Saturday evening. We made reservations - which I highly recommend! It was packed! The seating was a little squished. We sat at a table in a nook by the window. It was so drafty we had to move seats. The next seat was just as cold so we ate with our coats on. Something has to be done about the windows, especially for the winter months. The wine list was wonderful. We had a bottle of Cabernet from Tuscany. Delicious! We ordered the stuffed garlic bread for an appetizer and split the large Caesar salad. Both very good. My husband ordered the chicken Parmesan. It was ok. Overdone chicken but tasty. I ordered the beef short rib dinner. Very good! For dessert we shared the creme brûlée. It was good but should have been a little warmer. Our waiter was very, very good. Very attentive but not overboard. Overall an “ok” experience but we wouldn’t rush back.
Really bad experience. It was very crowded, super noisy and waitress was very busy so she forgot our drinks... we waited for our dinner for 40 (after waiting for our drinks for 20, they were so busy they couldn’t even see us calling them) when we finally got our dinner, my steak was dried and completely burnt on bottom and the potato gratin was so burnt I couldn’t even cut it! When I brought this to the waitress’ attention she said “I’m going to make sure they know about this”
This was a $30 dish which I couldn’t even eat, I expected at least an apology... or a discount or something.... we had to pay the whole check (bare in mind I couldn’t eat my $30 dinner!)
Never returning there, it was a horrible experience and I’m not recommending it to anybody!
Unfortunately the night we went there was a problem with the heat. We were not told about it even after we asked for the heat to be turned up. We even moved our seat from the restaurant to the bar to warm up by body heat. At the end of the night when our check came the manager came over and told us about it. Would have been nice to know when we arrived. Made our first experience a bad one and we didn’t even get compted a drink or dessert for the inconvenience.
We went on Christmas Eve. My parents were in town and my dad is a chef, so what was most important to me is that everyone enjoy their meal. The cocktails were pricey but excellent. The food was delicious. My father and husband got lasagna and there was not a speck left on either plate. My stepmother got a chicken dish and I got a different chicken dish, and both were wonderful. We both kept eating past full because the food was so good. My daughter had a steak and loved it. My son had the kids chicken nuggets and enjoyed them. The place was nice but kid friendly and super busy but our waitress was on top of it. The only down side is the set up made it very noisy and we had to speak very loudly to be heard. It was our first time there but we will definitely go back. My parents talked about how good the food was for the rest of their visit.
This was our first visit and has now become one of my favorite restaurants. My husband and I took our daughter and son-in-law out for our annual special Christmas Eve dinner. Everyone was very happy with their entree, the service and the atmosphere. We dine out every week and my daughter and her husband live in Boston, so they are used to good restaurants. We all enjoyed our dining experience so much we look forward to returning again soon!
For the past few years, in the days preceding Christmas, it's become a bit of a new tradition to get together with family for dinner. Rizzuto's has been the spot, and we are never disappointed by the food, the service, or the festive atmosphere. It is, of course, a great spot other times of year, too. It is a noisy place though, and this year I noticed that the noise was worse than usual - so not the spot for a quite convo or romantic dinner.
Absolutely loved Rizzuto's and enjoyed our dinner while celebrating our friend's birthday. It was the perfect space for our group, the food was delicious, and our waitress was attentive, considerate and very pleasant. My only complaint, is I had called during the day to ensure a dessert would be brought over for my friend's birthday (picked out the specific dessert and gave them his name and everything) and it never came, which was definitely a bit of a disappointment.
my personal favorite in the WH CTR area-the food, as always, was great. my beer was not always cold-not good. the service was poor. i didn't notice but both my children, who have worked in restuarants, noticed that our server had only three tables. he was very nice but not the best server. i don't like to be negative but i want to tell the truth. all other aspects were great. thank you
