Rizzuto's Oyster Bar and Restaurant - Westport Ratings and Reviews
Rizzutto's-Okay thar's all.
Used to be one of my fav places 3-5 years ago, but not now. Went back Sat. for first time in two years. Friendly service, same ambience but gorgonzola chopped salad weird (better whole or split olives than finely chopped) and my husband's chicken parm overbaked. My eggplant parm was pretty good. Good-sized portions.
We used to be regulars here but the service has gone way, way downhill. Our waitress told us that our food would be "right out" and we still did not have it 25 minutes later. No apology. Then after it did come she did not return until we were all done. Very disappointing.
We love this restaurant! This is the only seafood/pizza/Italian place we've found that consistently delivers stellar food and service. We've been coming here for years and the food is always good. It's also a great place to bring the kids or for date night. One of the true assets they have here is the server Aleksandra. She is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. To have someone so knowledgeable, so efficient and just incredibly nice is a rarity. Most restaurants are hit or miss but I never have to worry about Rizutto's which is why this is our first choice no matter what the occasion. This is also the only place where I get to drink my favorite desert, the toasted almond is to die for. I'm gushing but they deserve it.
Have been to Rizzutos multiple times with family over past months. Food usually of good standard. Service consistently ok. Limited differentiation v wide range of alternatives/competition in area. What really hurts Rizzutos is the cost - while menu prices don't seem overly excessive on an individual basis, we have routinely been surprised when we receive the bill. There is a lot of add-ons and extra costs applied for any level of special request (that no other restaurant applies) which dramatically increases the bill.
We dine out regularly in the area, oftentimes with 2 families (8ppl) - we order fairly consistently so can compare easily between visits/restaurants. An average of $70 a head for dinner (few cocktails, no wine) at a place like this is excessive - there are plenty of other choices in immediate area which offer same/better food at much better value.
We've been here with the family a few times and always enjoy it. Good food and good service. Also has GF options, important for us. Great pizza options, apps and mains. Good beer choices as well.
Of note: we had a family meal together recently and left our "leftovers" at the table as we were leaving. When we remembered and went back, they had already been disposed of. Not a big deal / we were the one's that forgot them.
The restaurant asst manager went out of his way to call me and email later that evening to offer us a gift certificate for our trouble. Entirely unnecessary but shows what attention they pay to customer service here.
Usually love this restaurant and have gone many times because the food and service have always been consistently good. Even had my daughter's baby shower here and still receive compliments on the food served that day! Although the service was still great this last time, some of the food was already cold when brought to our table and a few of our dishes were almost inedible. I was very disappointed, especially since we were celebrating a family birthday. I am hoping it was just an off day and will give it another chance in the future before taking this restaurant out of our regular dining rotation! Except for this last experience, I would normally recommend this restaurant without hesitation.
Decided to go out to Rizzuto's at the last minute and was pleasantly surprised. Winter Burrata was creamy; Chopped salad was fresh. Baked scallops - special was light and delicious, 6 plump scallops. Pappardelle bolognese was filling; cavatelli pesto was just enough. Topped off with Cappuchinos and delightful attentive service. Thanks for the nice night !
Restaurant was not busy, hence it was quiet and one could talk without shouting. This is not the case on weekends. Although a little pricey, the eggplant parmigian was exceptionally good and the Road 2 Ruin IPA was a rare treat. Service was also premium. The parking lot, however, was strangely very full. All-in-all, it was a topnotch dining experience
Long a family favorite, we find the food to be consistently good and the prices fair (for Fairfield County, at least). Will say that service has been noticeably worsening over the last year or so, and there are a few servers on staff who are pretty poor and unfortunately we're seeing those servers take more shifts. That was not the case tonight as we had a friendly and prompt server whom we'd be happy to have as our server again.
On a cocktail menu that's generally pretty pricey, highly recommend you look toward the pitcher deals, as they're uncommonly good values comparatively.
Good food, although small portions. Second time I've been there for Valentines Day, and both times they sat us near the patio doors. It's freezing, both times we were paying attention more to being cold than our Valentines date. I wouldn't go back again for special occasions knowing they always sit people in the cold, when they are trying to be romantic.
I've been to Rizutto's for casual weeknight dinners, Mother's Day brunch, birthdays, Valentines Day weekend, and date night. I've always had a positive experience there, even during the busiest of times. The food is outstanding, the waitstaff is knowledgeable and provides great recommendations based on taste, the mixed drinks are delicious, they have a great wine selection, and management is on point. The courses were spaced out just right and each meal was fresh and hot. I've never felt rushed - which you don't always get at in-demand restaurants. The fireplace is beautiful, too! This restaurant has become our go-to for special occasions and I wouldn't have it any other way. We'll be back!
We dined at Rizzuto's for New Year's Day with my mom, husband and two kids. The ambiance is terrific with the fire, open ceiling, great lighting and open kitchen. Pleasantly surprised. The menu was diverse enough for everyone. A couple of highlights included the fried calamari (light and perfectly cooked), the clams on the half shell, and the oven fired pizzas (excellent crust). We would definitely recommend to friends and have plans to go again. A new local favorite.
I have been to this establishment several times before including NYE. This NYE was disappointing. Many menu choices were already sold out at 7:30pm. Filet Mignon arrived burnt and was sent back twice. Margarita was poorly constructed and sent back. Food quality doesn't live up to the high prices. Time for a change in venue for NYE.
I was disappointed with our recent visit to Rizzutos. Have been there a handful of times before and wanted somewhere nice to take my family visiting from out of town. We had a reservation for 530 as we had kids with us and it was NYE. The table was not ready when we arrived. We were basically shoved in a corner behind another party and did not have enough chairs. We had to squeeze 6 of us on the booth and 4 adults on the chairs across. It was tight to say the least. The service was beyond slow and we had 2 dishes come out with completely raw meat that had to be sent back. Honestly do not this I will return after this experience and given what you get for the price.
Food is okay. Butternut squash ravioli was poor - no brown butter and little if any sage - mostly just butter and parsley. Cheese garlic bread was a weird grainy texture. Most felt food was acceptable but nothing to go out of your way for. Drinks were good and while the dining room was full the acoustics are good so on the plus side it's one of few restaurants where you can actually have a conversation and not be screaming to be heard.
